As a regular to La Foresta, I am saddened to have been motivated to report this review. Despite having a nice space, enjoyable wine and food on a fairly regular basis (a subjective review, I know)...when it comes to billing accuracy, one thing most people can agree is important, I felt the need to share this review. Of-course mistakes happen and when rectified correctly you can usually maintain a happy customer. However, if you have a a discrepancy here you should expect to be challenged, yelled at or hung up on....in this case, all three. As a regular of a group that meets at La Foresta, we recently found that a mistake was made on one of our bills (my group splits the check for bar food and drinks). One of us was over charged by a pretty significant amount which was NOT reflected on her restaurant receipt but WAS reflected on her credit card statement AFTER she left. The attempt to have them rectify the error on the phone was met with blame and an aggravated snap "This is why we dont like to split checks!" "You shouldnt be splitting checks with people" This is a strange complaint considering we have been splitting checks there for over a year. They proceeded to admit that the charge was done AFTER we left the restaurant, purposely, because one of the other members of our groups credit card had an error going through... Meaning La Foresta chose to increase the amount on one card without notifying the card holder and AFTER the card holder signed, tipped and left the restaurant. (#isthatfraud) They did this to absorb the charge on the other persons declined card. After multiple hang ups and an overall petulant avoidance to rectify the issue... they relucantly agreed to credit back the money to the over charged card. This review is just to alert you that yes, the space is great, the food can be good and the cocktails and environment are fun for the area.. But, do know that you are not in a place where they regard the customer as high value... certainly they do not believe the customer is always right, or right sometimes, or right, I suspect ever.... :-) even when they really ARE. Very rarely do restaurants who want to keep customers... yell at them. But hey its a new world now, maybe customer retention strategy has changed.....If you know that and youre good with that... then enjoy a nice meal and some fine wine amongst your party, thick skin required.

I have had the privilege of dining here about 4-- 5 ttime when i have visited family in Ct. We love this place for special celebrations or just a night out. The food and service is phenomenal! The calamari appetizer is great, lightly breaded and and perfectly fried. The clam casino app was delicous, a little small to share by itself. We did both for a party of 5, and we quickly consumed. In the past we have done a charcuterie board and a seafood fritte? which was great for sharing. The main courses are amazing, but you have to hear the special. 50% of the time you will be swayed by the specials, which are amazing. We recall a special we had where the side was truffled potatoes with lobster, a good portion of lobster. It left such an impression that we forgot what the main entree was. Now my italian is not that great and i cant repeat the exact menu names, but i have had, or sampled many dishes. I loved the duck dish, veal saltimboca, veal cassomore?, the stuffed chicken, stuffed veal chops, yellow fin tuna. Needless to say, theres something for everyone and the meals are exquisite. I live outside Boston but love visiting family here as it means a trip to La Foresta.

This gem of a restaurant was amazing. I cannot seem to stop talking about it. We took my father there for his 65th Birthday. Our server was Orlando. He literally knew all of our names and he kept saying we were family. He introduced us to our new favorite red wine which we bought two bottles of and gave us great advice on what to eat. I had the Bolognase which was out of this world. It had a dollop of ricotta on top of it too. My mother got the Vodka Sauce with lobster meat (now my favorite lol) which was so delicious, I wished it was my meal. My father got the filet mignon which literally melted in our mouths. And lastly, my brother got the cavatelli with sausage and rabe which was also great! All of the pasta is fresh made along with the bread that was super hot and to die for. I did not even mention our simple caeser salads that were the best weve ever had. All in all, I recommend this restaurant to everyone. It is literally our new restaurant seeing that it came to our hometown and its two minutes away. Ask for Orlando to be your server. Without asking, he brought over tiramisu for my father and sang happy birthday. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!

The food was excellent and the waitress was great. The only complaint I have, and others I know have had the same complaint, is that when we walked in to give our name to the hostess (who actually was the owner) he kept walking away from the check in station. Then when he did come back he carried on a conversation with someone picking up food and totally ignored us and another couple trying to check in. He then walked away from the station once again and didnt come back for at least 5 minutes leaving us standing there. Finally he came back and we said could you check our name off so you know we are here? He did and that was it. I asked if our table was ready (our reservation was for 8:00) and he said no. Not knowing to go to the bar or stand there we asked if our name will be called when the table was ready. He said "yea yea". We didnt get seated until 8:30. Kinda turned me off but the food was excellent!

The room where we were seated was very loud. Had to ask for silverware.Menu was nice, prices as you would expect from an upscale establishment like this unless you order one of the specials. The menu prices ranged from $24-$33, but if you order from the verbal specials presented by the staff you had better ask the price or look out. I ordered the surf & turf and did not ask the price, Well, when the bill came I was being asked to pay $57.82 for lack luster meal, the lobster tail was tiny, I mean I have seen larger tails on crayfish in the river, the filet mignon was also tiny and not the highest of quality either. It was outrageous to even see it on the bill. I brought it up to the waiter, he apologized up and down but nothing was done about it. I paid the bill because it was New Years eve and didnt want to cause a scene with the group I was with. Needless to say I shall not return... Ever!

We spent an overnight in Madison, CT and hoped for a fine restaurant for dinner close by. We made reservations for La Foresta. This restaurant overwhelmingly exceeded our expectations! The food was absolutely delicious-from salads to dessert! I had the Caprese salad & veal medallions with lobster and truffle mashed potatoes -incredible! My husband had the salmon with lobster mashed potatoes-also amazing! The portions are very large & elegantly presented. For dessert, we both had the chocolate covered (inside & out) cannolis. They gave us 2 a piece. I was going to save mine, but, they were SO good, I ate them at once. La Foresta is also a wine bar-so many selections! The wait staff is friendly and attentive. La Foresta is on my top 20 best meals in my life ( and I am 57) Definitely a 5 star experience!
