I already went in detail about the quality of the food in my review their Norwalk location, but in summary; ramen is okay but absurdly salty (and its not because "its like that in Japan"). Spring rolls were good, but way overpriced. The service here is what sets this establishment apart, and its definitely not in a good way. The hostess is inefficient and unapologetically rude when they mess up the "first come, first serve" order of arrivals. But if your patience managed to get you beyond that, youll be seated and served by the most distant and rude waiters and waitresses Ive ever encountered. They act like theyre doing you a favor when theyre taking your order, and trust me, youre going to need to ask several times in order to get their attention. My advice: bring a police whistle. Then after taking your order, youll be left waiting for nearly an hour just for some ramen. If you dare ask them what is taking so long, youll be met with a stone cold stare without any utterance of an apology. They even go as far as blaming you for arriving during their busy hours... The word to describe the staff isnt surly, because at least surly would imply that there is a desire to increase efficiency at the expense of friendliness. This is just pure laziness and idiocy. And to think that maybe 4 years ago I never would have thought that Id be writing this… mecha noodle bar has had a long and hard fall from grace. Its unlikely that theyd ever seek to regain my patronage given their anti-consumer policies that theyve since established, but even if they did, I would still think 10 times before making the mistake of returning.

UPDATE: Ive gone back a 3-4 times and the pork meat has gone down. It lacks flavor. It use to have a glaze on top and it doesnt. The pork is more bland in the bao and tonkotsu. The chicken had always been bland- tough bland boiled type white meat. I still enjoy the broth and ramen but will look for veggie options until I can try other noodle places. Not the best place for new any more. ----------------------------- The broths are deep, rich and flavorful. The steamed buns pork belly is the best. Atmosphere is small and can be cramped when busy. Take out portions are smaller than dine-in portions. Not a fan of the beef noodle classic plate and the tonkotsu is better than the paitan ramen. The bubble tea unfortunately is not very good. Over priced for ice laden tea or mix juice. And the black bubble are weak in flavor. It should have a strong licorice taste and it didnt. Ive had better bubble tea at the mall. Nevertheless, I recommend this place if you love noodles or want traditional steamed bao.

I decided to check out Mecha for lunch after hearing good reviews. We started with the Pork Belly and KFC Steamed Baos (each with 2) which were delicious! The ingredients were really fresh and both the pork and chicken had a great crispiness. I ordered the Paitan Chicken Ramen which was plated beautifully. It was really packed with flavor and a really big portion for lunch. After the Steamed Baos it ended up being a really heavy lunch. Great service and flavors in an area that was lacking much diversity in cuisine. My issue was that I was really suprised at the prices for lunch here, around $11-14 for lunch entrees. I hope they come out with a lunch menu or half portions.

My wife and I agree, this place is a solid 3 stars at best. It will have to do if you are in the mood for ramen or pork buns, and you cant make it into the city. I enjoyed the pork belly and Korean fried chicken bun, but noticed that they do taste different from the city. My wife was quick to point out its because the rice bun is most likely frozen, and in the city they make them fresh (like at Ippudo). I also ordered the Brisket bahn mi, which is new. Although it was okay, it was kind of drenched in sauce. The place is alright, but not worth a 40 minute wait. The wait to get seated and the price of the drinks are on par with NYC, but not the taste

Fabulous food!! If you love the experience of having Ramen and/or Pho you will love this place. Its always packed and there are very few tables. You sit Japanese bar style, so if you are uncomfortable sitting right next to strangers, beware. Very modern and hip vibe. Kitchen sits right behind the bar were you can see the food been cooked. If you go, please have the Baos (pork buns). The Lemongrass spareribs are extremely good but they have a kick. A little on the pricey side if you have a big party. They give you LOTS of food!!

Freshly renovated and enlarged Asian noodle shop. Wait staff is friendly but lack knowledge of menu. Seats are not very comfy. Bubble tea definitely over priced. Food is okay - fresh ingredients if somewhat lack in quality; taste-wise not so much, flavor is lacking but not because of lack of effort, the technique is just not there. That said there is zero competition for same type of food in the area so to satisfy your craving you pretty much have to come here.

If I could swim in a bowl of the tonkotsu ramen; I would. I love this place. The KFC Bao is incredible, you have to try it. Mecha holds its own against some of the major ramen establishments in NYC (its better than totto, trust me). My only complaint is that it is so small - almost impossible to get a table without waiting a really long time (but hey, it shows how well they are doing!) Easily my favorite restaurant in Fairfield. Easily.

True ramen is hard to find in Fairfield County. Mecha was first on the scene in 2013, and remains the standard bearer in Ffld Cty, although Kawa Ni in Westport is giving them a run for the money. They have tonkotsu, Paitan chicken, and miso-based broths, with noodle styles to match. You can ask for different noodle styls than what comes by default if you wish. Pho is also on offer. Fried kale salad and friend broccoli are excellent!

We love love this place. We bring our one year old and they are always extremely nice and attentive. The food is outstanding. My favorite is the Tonkatsu Ramen, and my wife gets the vegetarian ramen. They are very friendly to the Gluten Free crowd. A bunch of options are or can be made Gluten free. The tables are small so I wouldnt recommend going with a large crowd. One request though, please bring back the fried broccoli appetizer!!!

Been to mecha at least 10 times was great at first but now I see their true colors.. the food is average at best last three times eating there I had pretty bad stomach aches.. after today I can say I wont be going back I ordered out and my entire order was wrong and everything was ice cold. No to mention the manager can be rude. Lets just say I wasted $41 on something I could have made in my house with a 99¢ bag of chicken ramen

This is by far my favorite restaurant in fairfield county. everything they have on their menu is beyond delicious!!! the staff is friendly, food is beyond amazing, and the service is fairly quick once you sit down. the only downside would be that they do not take reservations so sometimes the wait is really long since it is a smaller restaurant but it is totally worth it and i recommend it to everyone!!! :)
