We live in Lyons and want to support local business. Have tried this place 3 times. First time for beer and wings about 30 minutes into our visit we asked about the wings-our server forgot to order them. Second visit, the hostess ignored us so we seated ourselves. Finally a young male server noticed us and gave us excellent service and the food was delicious. SW romaine arugula salad was fresh and had tons of sliced japalenos. Grilled cheese, burger and chili we ordered was hot and delicious. Third visit last Friday night we got draft beer that was room temperature, server forgot to order my husbands chili, SW salad was totally different than time before . Took forever to get the burger and grilled cheese that was no longer even warm, tomatoes soup was cold and congealed- no management in the premises. Doubt we will try this place again.

Visited about 5 times in the last year. Early experiences were promising; quickly going downhill. In March we visited and waited 45 minutes for an order of nachos with rancid meat - thankfully figured out what the smell was before we ate the meat and got sick. Gave them one more try in August and were served very, very spoiled blue cheese dressing with "warm" chicken wings. Terrible food poisoning. Not sure how the local health inspectors have not flagged this place. Its a shame about this place... such a nice patio.

This place is aiming to please, with really friendly and outgoing customer service. My lady and I wandered in to a private event (a film show party) and instead of turning us away Tre, the host of venue, welcomed us in saying there was plenty of foods for us. They had live music, great food, and a wonderful vibe. We will be back again, and we will recommend to others! Thanks Tre and thanks Axe and Oar!

We try to support local restaurants but our experience was abysmal. The burger, ordered well-done, came back blood red. They couldnt draw a draft of beer, it was all foam, had to walk up to the bar, ask for a bottle. The waitress, who worked one day a week, didnt even know the bar-food menu and read it to us! We waited forever and the place was empty. Management was amateurish and indifferent.

The food itself was very good. I loved the setting of the place. The staff were casual, which is nice, but it seemed to be getting in the way of there customer service for people they did not know. It took forever for us to have our order taken and then one of our orders was wrong. Very good over all.

Ax and Oar has the best guacamole in Lyons. They have a good beer list, a great dinner menu, and a cool little area to chill in Lazy Boy chairs.
