My Girlfriend and I recently moved to Belmar, and really enjoyed coming here our first few times. The waitstaff was very friendly, honored our apartments discount card (a card provided by our apt complex which provides discounts for stores/shops in Belmar for being Belmar residents), and had no problem with our dog sitting under our table on the patio. Well the last time we were there was completely different, and enough to make us never want to go back. First off, the service was SLOW. After being seated on the patio, we waited about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there. A waitress came by and said "Ill be right with you". About 5 minutes later she came back to take our drink orders. Another 10 minutes went by before we saw the beers we had ordered. I can understand drinks taking a while when a place is busy, but aside from a few tables and some people seated at the bar, the entire inside was empty, and the patio only had a handfull of tables occupied. Because the patio was pretty empty, I lifted my dog over the fence (she had been sitting outside the patio) and let her lay down under our table on the patio, where she laid for about 20 minutes, while we drank our beers. We finished our beers, and waited another 10 minutes before our waitress came back and asked if we wanted another round. We ordered another round, and waited another 10 minutes to get the beers. During that time somone that worked there came out and told us we werent allowed to have our dog on the patio. No problem, I woke her up and lifted her back over to the other side of the fence. Rules are rules, and I have no problem following them, but find it pretty annoying that they welcomed her on the patio the first few times we were there, but now all of a sudden she isnt allowed. After what feels like an eternity, our second round of drinks comes out. Halfway through our drinks, we decide to be proactive and ask for the bill (assuming it would take a while to come out). But we didnt see our waitress again for another 15-20 minutes, and by that time our beers were gone. When she finally came over to check on us, I asked for the bill and gave her our discount card. She returned saying that they do not accept the discount card. I informed her that we had used that discount card 3 times before, one of those times being last week, and had no problem. She said she has nothing to do with it, and that her manager refused to accept it. Not being in the mood to argue, I said whatever, and paid the bill. The horrible service, combined with the fact that their new(?) manager doesnt honor the belmar discount card (which is honored virtually everywhere in Belmar, and was honored here just last week), and their changing policy about dogs on the patio is enough to make us never go here again.

Horrible experience. First we walk in and the hostess checks our ids to get a table, then doesnt even write down our names for a table. We decide to go to the bar to have a drink just to pass time by waiting for our table. We close out, leave the bartender a fat tip. say thank you, she looks at us and doesnt even acknowledge the thank you. Then, we are sat outside, and people are smoking everywhere. I understand we are on the patio, but it was overbearing. We would have sat inside if we knew there was smoking allowed on the patio. We then ordered our food. After an hour and fifteen minutes of waiting for our food, we asked our server if the food was coming out any time soon. She admittedly said she completely forgot to put our food in. She asked again what we wanted. We then get our food, and I got the wrong thing. I was so hungry, I didnt care at this point and ate it. We brought to her attention that it was the wrong thing, but that it was okay. Our server was very nice, but a smile doesnt make it okay that it took an hour and a half to get our food as well as getting the wrong thing. I am usually completely understanding, as I am in the service industry myself, but this was just unacceptable. Everything that could have possibly gone wrong did. The ladies next to us were having issues as well and they were complete jerks to their server and got free rounds of drinks and extra attention. Being a jerk is not my style, but in this case, I guess thats how you get good service or a little bit of compensation for the horrible service we received. I will not be going back to eat there any time soon. Sad thing is, I have been to the Baker St Pub in Thornton as well as in Boulder and they were great. This one was NOT.

***VEGGIES BEWARE*** (Friends of veggies take note) I am a VERY easy going veggie. I eat eggs and drink milk etc. Just no meat. (Fish included) That said, I do have some basic standards that I will flip my lid over and this particular visit to Baker St. hit them all. Some restaurants are not exactly veggie friendly by design. Steakhouses etc. That said, most have one or two things that, whether intentionally placed there for veggies or not, serve our needs. Basic things, salads, appetisers, sides. Mostly so we can have a meal with friends and not make a scene of deciding where to eat. The menu has very little to choose from but what damns it is the fact that almost without exception you will be paying more for less. The same salad with meat *and* avocado on it will be *less* than the one without but you can add some avocado to it for an extra fee.... Finally what sealed the deal was that the staff I dealt with were inefficient and unobservant. Mainly that when a customer is asking about what things do not have meat in them and is distressed at finding out their main and secondary choices are unavailable the server doesnt at least mention it when they order something else that comes standard with meat but is not labeled so. After this experience I will likely not return. I cannot speak for other experiences and I sincerely hope they are better than mine for the restaurants sake. Dont run screaming but veggies especially, steer clear.

I feel like every Baker St. Ive been to (a whopping 3), the happy hour is where its at. I mean, when the happy hour goes from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. every day? Thats a dream come true for those of us who cant just take off work at 3 or even 4 to grab a decently priced drink. I recently came here for lunch and turns out they have lunch specials too. The food is still very pub type food. The queso seemed to be basic velveeta and the salads we ordered (to counteract the queso) left some to be desired. The server was nice but quiet and a little unsure. She had someone following her around so I guessed she was training and still getting her bearings. If youre going for happy hour drinks, expect decent prices but not much else. The patio is great for people watching in Belmar when the weather is nice.
