Yummy but NOT authentic Summary: Food is decent, reasonably priced for a restaurant, and tastes good, but if you are from SEA and expecting stuff to be like at home youre in for some weird surprises. (Im Malaysian) The food was fairly good but not authentic at all. We had kailan (which the menu bizarrely explains as "Chinese broccoli" rather than "Chinese kale"), and what were supposedly udang sambal goreng and beef rendang. The udang (prawns) were goreng (fried) all right, but they were battered, and I dont know how they got the idea that salsa is anything like sambal (chili paste). They were also excessively salty. The beef rendang was tender and in a nice curry, but rendang is not supposed to be a wet curry - its essentially beef curry thats slow-cooked until most of the water evaporates, leaving it tender but without any free liquid. We had pulut hitam (black glutinous rice, with coconut milk) for dessert. The pulut hitam was dryish and moulded into a mound/inverted bowl shape, whereas I have NEVER seen solid pulut hitam before - its supposed to be in porridge form as the dessert. The flavour was good but the big mound was dry in the middle.

Called to order food at Wednesday Night @ 9:30PM and was told "the kitchen is closed". It clearly says theyre open until 11am-10pm. I mentioned this to the girl, she got furious with me and practically screamed "the kitchen is closed!" and hung up on me!! What an absolute joke of a person and restaurant!! So I called Red Dragon Chinese Restaurant down the street and they answered the phone and we more then happy to deliver us some food. Seems like the employees at Jaya Asian Grill have no customer service skill, are lazy and just dont care about the consumer. I highly recommend Red Dragon and suggest management fire the girl on the phone at Jaya Asian Grill who is costing them business and money. Ridiculous that she would be allowed to treat a customer that way 30 minutes prior to closing. Good companies and people deserve recognition so call Red Dragon and theyll treat you right regardless of the time of day. Theyre no lazy and the food was amazing.

I was born in Singapore and I have family there and in Malaysia. Im a HUGE fan of Malaysian/Singaporean food (as is everyone there). I would say that this place is as authentic as you can get for being in America. I read some bad reviews about this place, but that was mostly about less-than-perfect customer service. I say screw customer service, this place has great food! I didnt notice anything wrong with the service, they were very friendly and nice, but even if I went on a "bad day," Id still be happy so long as the food still tasted the same. I highly recommend the "chow" kway teow, hainanese rice, laska, and beef rendang. I havent tried the other stuff, so I cant give an opinion. Stay away from the thai food they offer (its good, but not their specialty). All in all, Im glad theres at least one Sing/MY restaurant in the Denver area (are there others that I dont know about?).

Wow! I think I just found my new favorite Asian restaurant! My Tiawanese friend who grew up in Malaysia took me here last night and I wasnt sure what I was in for. It was a wonderful experience ~ great service, very mom and pop kind of feeling, clean, modern atmosphere, and delicious food at very reasonable prices! I had the Spicy Thai Shrimp and I was so surprised to see big, plump shrimps on a large plate with fresh Thai basil and assorted fresh veggie. And the hot paste was AWESOME! The only caution I have for the non-Asians is to be aware that there is a strong fish sauce smell in the air, which I personally love, that may deter some but hopefully you can bypass that and enjoy the delicious food and reasonable prices!

Just started working nearby, and was looking for a good Asian place to grab lunch occasionally. I was pleasantly surprised. The lettuce wraps were good (though VERY messy!), the eggroll was good, and the hot and sour soup is very good. Ive been looking for a decent hot and sour soup in the area, and Ive found my go-to place. I also ordered the orange chicken, but Im saving that for dinner. Ill be back. The only reason Im not giving 5 stars is that I ordered online, but it wasnt ready when I arrived 15 minutes later. They acted a little surprised when I asked for it, and I got the impression that maybe they hadnt received the order or hadnt started it yet.

The food we had was extremely good. Ive eaten Singapore-Malaysian hundreds of times, and this is excellent for a place like Denver. I had Beef Randang (Rendang Sapi)--delicious. Another member of the party had Chili Ayam Malacca; a third had Kway Teow Daging. All was delicious-- believe me, I know my food. If you dont like spicy food (I do) you can ask for mild. This compares favorably with very expensive restaurants; the prices are very reasonable; this is an inexpensive restaurant. I recommend this to fine food lovers. I would love to know that this restaurant and its cuisine is going to stay alive in Denver.

Entered this place on google advice and a passerby. One of the reviewers here commented on waitstaff, I can only confirm that the waitress I got knew enough to take my order, but when I asked if they had any one real standout dish, I was simply pointed to the lunch specials and she left. The pineapple chicken curry I got was more potato, and to echo an Asian reviewer from here, was not as bold as I would expect. I am an experienced Asian food fan, but not native. This reinforced my opinion that any ethnic restaurant with "grill" in the name is bound for mediocrity.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE WITH ANY COMPANY PERIOD!!!!! Driver went to the wrong apartment and have some piece of s*** my food. When I called to tell them they didnt believe me and I heard them talking in the background saying some other person signed for it, but they werent gonna tell me the truth. When I asked for compensation they said they will do nothing besides send the order out again and the manager told me "I AM A BAD CUSTOMER." Unbelievable bunch of crazy people working there. Id rather starve than order from here again.

Theres not many Indonesian/Malaysian restaurants in Denver, so those wonderful cuisines are not well represented in the metro area. Jaya is a nice breath of fresh air from the variety of generic "Asian fusion" places that dont recreate any cuisine particularly well, but peddle the most popular dishes. Food selection is good, seems to have a heavy Chinese influence. Some of their Indonesian dishes like their Mi Goreng dont taste like what Ive had in Indonesian, so could be a local adaptation or chefs personal version.

The food was not very tasty, I ordered the beef steak samba and lo mein chicken and it was awful. The sauce smelled like dog food, and the lo mein was unseasoned and dry. I called the manager Dave and complained and was told that I was able to get a refund. I came later to get a refund and was told by a different manager that I couldnt get a refund after bringing all the food back that I didnt even get to eat. The lady manager was extremely rude. I will never recommend this place to anyone.
