Mediocre at best. Food is very generic and soul-less. Tastes like it is simply reheated out of a can or jar and prepared by someone with no culinary passion whatsoever. Service is abysmal. Asked by the bartender what I wanted to drink within a couple minutes of being seated (good start) - beer was the reply - never got it, she left to do other stuff, went to the bathroom, talked on her phone, but I had to get it from her colleague. The guy next to me waited 45 minutes for a pork chop with rice and beans, despite both of us sitting down about 11:15 and being the only patrons in the restaurant - I guess I was lucky, as my beef enchiladas only took 25 minutes to come out. At the end, service was no better. Guy (who back-filled from his distracted colleague above and poured my beer) brought me my check, but he never returned to collect the cash, give me change (see if I was paying with a credit card), etc. I just spared myself any more agony at Bella Vista and left a larger tip than they were entitled to. Wont be back - Id rate this one a mindless kitchen disaster that really should just shut down.

This place does have a couple things going for it. The price is very reasonable for downtown. And it certainly has a nice neighborhood watering hole feel. Often the music is Norteño. And it has its own parking, which is nice. Beyond that, theres not much to say. It closes earlier than one night expect for a bar with tacos downtown. The food is mediocre at best. The tacos are decent, but avoid anything with beans; they taste like the canned refried variety. The bar service is lacking even when theyre slow, and their bar is only modestly stocked: one red and one white wine at any time, a couple draft domestics and your standard liquor wall. Overall, I cant say not to go here. But being right downtown, a 5 minute walk in any direction will land you at somewhere better. If youre on a tight budget and just want cheap grub and a few drinks, this might be the spot for you.

Roommate took us to this little place. I was wanting real mexican food. I got it. Fantastic service, friendly and listened when I asked about things. Im a spice wuss, and my boyfriend is a spice Marine. My food came out with just the right amount of spice for me, and his came with the right for him. Portions were great, drinks never were empty, and everything tasted fantastic. I got a bite of the boyfriends tamale... heaven. Perfect flavors, fresh ingredients. And honestly, for less than we usually spend at Taco Bell trying to get full, we got better food and still got full! Were all going back any time we want mexican food. The menu, by the way, has so many good options that I couldnt decide what I really wanted to try. Now that we know its this great, I can try something different each time we go. So even your picky eaters should find something to eat here!

My partner and I have been to Bella Vista at least 50 times in the last 10 years, and we always count on consistently great Tex Mex flavors. Service during the dinner hour is inconsistent. After the waiter (usually Marcus) delivers the check, if you stand by the register, hell run over and take care of you right away. We sometimes stand by the register even before we get the check. We love the down to earth experience and the great food at Bella Vista. Weve been 100% happy with the quality and taste of the food. The salsa is fantastic. Bella Vista is a little seedy and not for everyone, but we think Its the best Tex-Mex in town. During the lunch hour, theres a line out the door, so others must agree. 8/12/2016 Update -- Another great meal.

This place is going downhill fast. The food has never been great but it used to come quick and it was affordable (despite the sneaky way they hand you chips and salsa then charge you for it later) so it was a good place to grab a quick bite and head back to work. Recently, however the food has been getting worse (I think they started adding water to their chili to make it last longer) and the service is painfully slow. On top of it all the waitstaff is unpleasant and rude. I used to go there at least once a week, but until I hear theyve improved, I cant imagine going back.

I approached this establishment with the hopes of grabbing a drink and a quick bite to eat. I walked in and briefly waited to be seated, but after a few minutes I decided to approach the bar. I stood and waited but was never addressed, despite making eye contact with the bartender. I did not have particularly high expectations, but they were drastically lowered after this encounter. Since I was not able to try the food, I can only speak for the service: very poor.

I am not sure how it is possible for Mexican food to be bland, and based on the other reviews perhaps I was there on an off day. The salsa served with the chips was a little hot for me, but had minimal taste. My lunch was terrible. I had enchiladas, and the sauce had no flavor. I only ate about 1/2 my lunch - not too bad since it is relatively cheap.

Love the fact that they dont load the cheese enchiladas with onions. The atmosphere reminded me of being back home in Texas. Great service, and I would have given 5 stars if they served Chile con queso with tortilla chips, but I guess that is a Tex-Mex thing. Back for a second time, and tried their salsa. Best I have had in Colorado. 5 stars!

Anyone saying that wanted "real" Mexican and didnt find it at this gem, must call Taco Bell authentic. This place is the real deal and is a fairly-priced, great-service spot for a great steak burrito and a margarita. Also, they dont charge for chips. I was shocked to find that this place had less than 4 stars. Try it out.

I had the fish tacos, they were good. I enjoyed the heat to the salsa they give with the chips, reminded me of the New Mexican food Im familiar with. Service seems a little slow, but I was there during the lunch rush so its understandable. Ill be going back!

I have been eating at Bella Vista for years. This family owned restaurant has always been one of my favorites. The staff is excellent. The food and drinks are really good. Very affordable. I highly recommend them.

Reasonably priced. Authentic Mexican food. Delicious. The only thing I would change would be the tortilla chips. They are thick and I prefer thin chips. Will go back first chance I get.

This place is a favorite among us that work at 1999 Broadway. Theres quite a bit of room for seating the lunch time rush and the food is always delicious. Give their margarita a try!
