The food is delicious, but the service wasnt up to par. When I first entered the restaurant, the young woman at the counter was completing several take-out orders. She didnt acknowledge my presence, or say, "Ill be right with you." I sat at a table and continued to wait, until another customer came in. I returned to the counter, and the young lady finally spoke to me by saying, "Are you ready to order yet?" That comment caught me by surprise, since I was NEVER asked, so I replied, "Ive been ready," and gave my order. I was informed my order would take at least 15 minutes, so I continued to wait. The customer who arrived behind me (and was properly greeted) received his food before me, so I went up to the counter to find out why. The young woman tried to tell me I came AFTER him, which wasnt the case. Then, she explained his order consisted of items that were already prepared. The wait continued a little longer, and my order was ready. She bagged it, and while adding the hot sauce I wanted, she spilled it all over the inside of my bag. She smeared it over the bag, rather than give me a new, clean bag.

I wanted to like this but I cant make myself like it because I just didnt. Were from Boulder and whenever were in that area around lunch I hope my partner doesnt suggest it because I have a feeling hell be disappointed I didnt like it- but I dont think hes had soul food before. This just fell short in several ways- like he didnt learn to cook at his mothers, grandmothers or anybodys side but I dont know where. Its expensive but the cook/owner wears his crisp chefs jacket, thermometer in pocket, so he looks like it should be priced above the norm. He behaves like he has a poker up his backside, giving more power to his Chef Look but his food falls short. Its like taking a picture with an iPhone (cooking) and doing the basic editing of cropping and calling it good. (making sure its cooked to temperature and minimally salted) He didnt think of balancing the color and contrast very much (traditional seasoning) and he certainly doesnt use filters or other enhancements (seasonings or dishes that are unique) that could make his pictures (food) really stand out.

We went there today for Mothers Day. The service was horrible! Took forever to get our side of french fries. The lady said our wings would not be hot and they would not make my tongue vibrate. That really is what she said. That really is what she said. I opened the container my eyes water. I took a bite in my mouth was on fire. I took it up to the counter to ask for just some plain Wings instead. 10 minutes later, he came out to tell me theres nothing they could do they cant replace my food for another protein and less I wanted to pay for another protein. We had some other wings that were okay but still not great. My husband got done eating his last wing and it was not even cooked completely. DO NOT GO THERE!!!

The food is awesome. I will give them that. But that is all. The last two times I called in my order for pick-up I was made to wait until EVERYONE in the restaurant that was either in line or waiting for food had paid. About 15 minutes the first time and closer to half an hour the second. Now this might not have been a problem had there not been a separate sign and line for pick-up orders. And had my orders not been clearly visible, packaged, and ready to go. What was the purpose of calling in the order? To get cold food? I will not accept such abysmal customer service and will not frequent this establishment again.

I love this place. I have tried everything on the menu, multiple times.... the staff is always very friendly, and their sweet tea is perfection. Mac n cheese, greens, red beans and rice, fried shrimp, okra, you name it they got it. Its a small cozy atmosphere and the food will awaken your taste buds. THEY COOK EVERYTHING TO ORDER DO NOT COME HERE IF YOURE LOOKING FOR FAST FOOD! Call ahead if youre in a hurry, but I recommend just taking the time to have a seat, listen to the music, put your phone down, enjoy your company, and smell the aroma! The food is worth the wait, trust me.

So good I had to leave a review! The catfish, meatloaf, red beans and rice, and cornbread are fantastic! The gumbo is amazzzzzzing! The southern style okra with shrimp is slap yo mama good! I had this for lunch today....Im getting it again for dinner after work. Thats how good it was. Great price for this quality of food. The lady that serves you was very nice and great service. Im gonna try the fried chicken, greens, mac-n-cheese, amd mashed potatoes for dinner....this should confirm that everything there is the best food I have had in forever!

Great food, super friendly service, and no fluff to distract from the food. I had the meatloaf, cabbage and mashed potatoes = Delicious! If you want soul/comfort food in Aurora area or Anschutz medical campus, do not pass this by. Mel was super friendly, articulate and professional. If you want the fried chicken, call ahead, they cook to order! I was looking to sample the fried chicken but didnt plan sufficient time in waiting for the order, a mistake I will not repeat. I withheld the fifth star in anticipation of that fried chicken.

The food here is very good! The owner is also very nice and will chat with you while you wait. Now this is a Soul Food place in Denver, so please know that EVERYONE will flood here for food and it can get busy!!! Sometimes there is a wait or orders get mixed but its been my experience that "Good" things are indeed worth the wait and I encourage people to give this place 2 or 3 tries before making a Final decision.

I enjoyed the food a lot. I have tried the fried chicken, catfish, red beans and rice, peach cobbler, mac N cheese, collard greens. It is very good soul food. Everyone was really friendly. Their menu is available online to view. Not the cheapest, but for decent southern food it never is. I would definitely recommend this place. They are some nice folks who run it and I try to support family owned places.

Great place to grab real food and quicker than restaurants. Had the peach cobbler AND banana pudding yesterday. Both are so good I dont know how you choose only one. Some items such as their yummy fried chicken is cooked to order, but theyre still quick, and this helps make their food so good. Mickey Kendra Chelsea great customer service. Loved it. My co-workers and I were doing some environmental work outside and nearby this restaurant one morning. As the day wore on, the delicious smells wafting our way from the restaurant became more and more noticeable, until we eventually agreed to have a late lunch here. Once inside, the service was prompt, and the food was outstanding!! I will be back.

Loved this place! Came here on a whim looking for good soul food in Denver & we were not at all disappointed. Chicken, mac & cheese, fried okra, greens, yams, corn bread & gumbo were all amazing. Takes some time - about 20min for the chicken, because its all made to order, but totally worth it. We will for sure be back. I definitely recommend it
