A review from a vegan for Tokyo Gardens! A beautiful facility, a treasure for Visalia and, as a vegan, enough options to make a satisfying meal. In general, not a varied veg selection (veggies, tempura, some rolls, & salad) with some things to avoid (the udon, miso soup, tempura dipping sauce). Was happy to find that they fry their vegetable tempura separately. In place of the non-veg dipping sauce, they allowed teriyaki. My server was nice, but had the least understanding of her own menu of anyone Ive encountered in a while. After explaining and asking questions, I still had to send a few things back saying, "yes, chicken broth is an animal product" (miso soup). My tempura vegetables also came with a piece of fried crab that I fortunately noticed and avoided. Next time in intend to speak with a manager to be sure on somethings. Ill also check with the sushi chefs to see if they have more veg options off the menu. Otherwise, a very pleasant experience. Patrons have a choice of sitting in a sushi room, cooking stations (Benihana style), the full bar, or a more traditional restaurant area with private rooms. The koi pond and fountains are really lovely. For good food in a great setting at a price, I do recommend Tokyo Gardens.

I am japanese, maybe too critical, but from too much rice on the spicy tuna roll to the soup and further to the meal. I was very disappointed. My mother always told me that a good sushi chef does not use alot of rice in an order of sushi. And that is how I rate a sushi bar or restauraunt that serves sushi. The Tempura was entirely too greasy and seemed to be fried too hard. The beef teriyaki was too rare for me. To all the restauraunts out there, not everyone likes rare meat. The broth type soup was nothing that I have had before. I have had better broth style soups in japanese restauraunts. The salad was ok. This by far was a terrible experience for $31.50. Sorry Tokyo Garden, thumbs down from me. Spend the time and travel approx 2 blocks away and goto Gozen Japanese restauraunt. Did not eat a quarter of the meal......."Check Please, No thank you, I would not like a togo box!"

Food is ok at best. The wait as extremely too long. If they sit u at a table you have to wait until thy table is full before they even take your order. Not only did we wait for an hr and 30 mins to place our order the drink refills were a dollar. Customers obviously come because they are hungry. The whole dollar for a refill would have been fine had I been able to place my order. So my drink was way watered down by the time the cook even started cooking my food. The waitress wasnt polite at all. This place was a complete waste of my time. Total wait time 2 hrs and 15 mins, ate the little bit of food I was given which was over 30 dollars. All in all I wont be visiting here ever again

This is a great spot for some good food and a great experience. They have great and friendly staff and the cooks make you feel like theyve know you for ever and are pretty nice. Awsome staff. The other review that says "kids always fall on the fish pone" is hilarious, Ive been coming to this place for probably 15 years and I dont recall ever seeing or hearing anybody falling that fish pon. Lol They have good parking and its not over priced (not cheap tho).

This was our first time in this restaurant and we had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful with their recommendations on the sushi and with the entrees. We are new to the area and are still finding places to eat in the area. Michael was our cook and he was very good at what he does. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful our drinks werent ever empty and she was very attentive. Thanks for the wonderful experience and a wonderful meal.

Do not go here on a hot day in the summer. Unfortunately the good food, great experience, and friendly staff were overshadowed by boiling temperatures in the restaurant. Having been to similar restaurants and not been so hot and uncomfortable I know that this is a flaw in their AC System and not something one should expect. Staff apologized and said its just how it is during the summer.

Food and wait staff were great and the Teppanyaki chef was very entertaining, which would normally deserve 5 stars. But when a cockroach crawled up from the grill onto our table and the Manager makes excuses about nearby construction and as an apology offers the table bowls of ice cream, it made us feel incredibly unimportant to him or his business. We wont be returning.

The food was OK but nothing great. They forgot that my wife wanted fried rice so they had to go back and make more. On top of that the chef didn't grab enough steak so he had to get another steak which meant that all the steaks on the grill got overcooked. Not worth the $90 spent for two adults and one child's meal split two ways plus an appetizer.

Seriously the worst teppenyaki experience Ive ever had. Very disorganized. The chef had no idea what he was doing. He made a joke about it being his first day but I wouldnt be surprised if that were true. Burned the rice. Everything was bland and overcooked - including my $60 lobster. Ill never go back to Visalia for teppenyaki. What a waste of money

Really good sushi, a good selection of rolls. I have had teppanyaki here before and it was good, not great but solid. Usually get good service here, although this time they were a bit slow on drinks and getting the check. I would have gave less stars if I had not been here before, but also would have given 4 stars if the service was a bit better.

I had a party with my friends, chef was funny and great, he made a beating heart out of the fried rice! All the servers were friendly too, there was also this guy server, a good-looking asian with a good manner when he greeted us at the table, thumbs up! Thank you, Tokyo Garden, will be back for the delicious scallop!

The wife and I go there at least twice a month. The sushi is nothing but the freshest fish prepared by the most knowledgeable chefs anywhere around. If you have never been to Tokyo Gardens, its a must. Jst. ask for Edie, he can make any dish you can think of and make them taste incredible..

My husband and I love good dining. We had a great great time this time around . We come here often but this night we had a great waitress Judy from colombia. Its nice to feel care for when youre dining somewhere. 5 stars to Judy. :) . Just like the Italian waitresses we had in Europe.
