We eat at Black Bear Diner often, and have always been satisfied with food and experience. However, today we had an issue with our order. The restaurant was busy, like always, but we got our order timely. My son ordered a club sandwich, with fries and a dinner salad with thousand island dressing. She brought salad out first, with ranch dressing, in a container on the side. My son told her he wanted thousand island. He said to just exchange the container, but she insisted on bringing whole new salad. When his club sandwich came he discovered it did not have any bacon in it. The server did not however return so he could tell her, until after he was done eating, at which time when we told her, she offered to bring him some bacon. Not wanting just bacon, when he was done eating, we declined. She apologized and said she would inform the manager, who came over, and also apologized, and said he would reduce the bill. He brought the adjusted bill, with $1.49 taken off, patted my son on the shoulder, and said so sorry for that! I just feel what he took off was kind of insulting, and for that small of an adjustment to the bill, it wasnt worth the time we waited, nor was it a sincere gesture. Isnt bacon a main ingredient of a club sandwich. Am I wrong?

This is my second try at a Black Bear Diner the first being 10 years ago in another city. My friends said this was a great place to eat. They were wrong! The waitress was fine and pleasant and tried to be helpful. That is where the good ends. The omelet I ordered was lukewarm, at best, and the hash browns were mushy. I ordered dry toast and got buttered toast and the new toast did not arrive until "after" the meal was over. The meal I ordered turned out to be the daily special but I heard our waitress explaining to the cook what I ordered and basically how it was made. I am sorry but this place is being removed from places I will eat. It was a bad choice some ten years ago and a bad choice today. One more thing, kudos to my waitress, she really did try.

OMG! Food is absolutely fantastic! Had the Bears Choice (2 pieces french toast, 2 eggs & 2 pcs of bacon) with your choice of main and meat. A little more than I wanted to pay @ $10.50 but they buttered me up with the big portions. Down side would be 20 minute wait for food after ordering. Food was super hot and fresh so, I wont complain. The server was as sweet as the tasty syrup and attentive considering the crowd. 2 minute wait to be seated at 1pm. Worth it!

Fantastic food! Claudia was a fabulous server. Friendly, thoughtful and extremely efficient. She made great recommendations and we were not disappointed. We had the Grizz split between our three children, which was more than enough. I had the SCRAMbowl which was waaaaaay too much food. It was amazing! My wife had the Southern Scramble which she truly enjoyed. We will definitely return again and again.

Black bear is at a very convenient location right off of the freeway. It has ample parking and is usually quite busy. They have a good menu and serve decent food, combined with fairly decent wait staff. The portions that you get are usually quite big so if you have an appetite this is the place to go. They also have some good looking desserts at the front counter to take home with you.

Carla is a fantastic server. Attentive, considerate and enthusiastic...it is apparent that she likes her work. My poached eggs were spot on; poached eggs are a crap shoot at restaurants. My coffee was always full and my food hot. The only down side was our prime rib was well as opposed to medium. The flavor was still good.

WOW!! I wish we wouldve been told how great this place was before our last day in town! I had a California Benedict, which was amazing (and Im quite picky about hollandaise sauce!) My husband had the pineapple upside down PANCAKES.... yes you read that right! Superb breakfast, wish we could go back again this trip!!

Were not from the area but we loved the food, service, and my boyfriend really loved the fresh orange juice. Good prices. Very clean. Would come back if I was ever in the area again. We went at a slow time so if its busy in there, the experience might be different. But we got our food very quickly.

You can always count on Black Bear Diner for a great meal in any town! Boy the waitstaff seriously hustles at this location! Wonderful Parmesan Sourdough Burger, (ate the cole slaw) but the parmesan house made chips are wonderful! A must try! Thanks for getting me home to San Jose! Cheers!!

Im not really sure if the "extra" appeal of these diners. They seem all around pretty similar to any IHOP or Dennys. I guess maybe if you are really into bears. The menu selection and food are exactly what you expect. Big servings of American comfort food at a decent price.

Black bear is on of my favorite restaurants! I love how you can get a wide variety of foods and for a really good price too. Im always surprised at how much food you can get for the low prices they offer. I got the B.L.A.S.T. and was very happy with my order.

Definitely qualifies as comfort food. Great menu for both food choices and a look back at Vacaville history. Busy lunchtime, but food gets served timely and to my satisfaction. Nice atmosphere. They offer Pepsi products from the drink menu.

Good comfort food, but portion-heavy. When you ask for crisp bacon, it shouldnt be limp and full of wet fat. Table service was great, but too long for food to come from the kitchen, about 40 mins, and the place was not busy.

This is a team that has it together! These folks had a packed restaurant and no one waited for more than a few minutes. Food was served quickly with great attitudes from every employee... great stuff.

Last ate here Mon, 01 Aug 2016 Easy dining atmosphere. Fun bear decor. Menu isnt as extensive as other dine-in restaurants but it has enough of a variety to feel youre getting a choice.
