The Pinwheel Café is a welcomed addition to the Rolling Hills village. Their fig and honey as well as their raisin and nut scones are a treat not found locally. We also tried their butter croissants which fluff-up perfectly allowing one to fill the cavity with marmalade or jam of your choice. For sake of comparison, the pastries here are much better than at Starbucks. I cant speak to their coffee (on the coffee wagon) but their hot chocolate is very good, especially their lavender flavored serving. The Pinwheel also serves breakfast, which falls short to the quality of pastries, but good enough for an occasional order. The Pinwheel is open early, which is great for early morning walkers and those getting some special pastries for the office. Im not a big fan of background music, which, to me, is a little too loud for my liking. I prefer sitting outside rather than inside under one of the air conditioning vents. The Pinwheel has a charm that is finding its stride. It has not been open for very long. It is an excellent place to spend time with friends. Im looking forward to future visits.

Everything was very good, but to be honest, I wanted to like it more. Most locals will remember that this restaurant took the place of a French style cafe and bakers, LAmande. So, its natural that the first question about Pinwheel will be, "is it as good or better than LAmande?" My answer based on my first experience with Pinwheel unfortunately is no. Still, it was quite good, and without the comparison to the prior place, my review would be much more positive.

I loved the ambiance of this place! My Iced Latte was carefully made and tasted just as i wanted. Come here if you want a relaxed environment.. maybe a nice lunch date with a girlfriend!
