[WARNING!] The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (WAS) my favorite Café of all. Especially this one at the mall because The Oaks mall is where I work. I always stop here before I go to work. Unfortunately! they lost a Frequent costumer because there are times in which I dont have my card on me for whatever reason and pay cash. Some times I dont have change so I ask if they can break $100 dollar bill. I understand if Im the first guest at opening if they cant do it so I waited till 9am. I had a close relationship with these employees until I realized that, They DONT ACCEPT U.S. CURRENCY if its an "old bill." At least thats what they told me. After ordering I was going to pay with a U.S. $100 dollar bill until they all passed my bill around checking it like 4 times each. And then the girl with the colored hair told me they didnt accept "old bills because of counterfeit" It is U.S. currency and if the bank legally gave it to me, any place should Legally accept it. And since she didnt. That is extremely ILLEGAL! I can open and file a Lawsuit for that and also claim that I was discriminated however, I believe in Karma so Coffee Bean owners, if youre seeing this you better check your employees and legal standards or someone different than me will do what I wont! I took my business to my least favorite coffee shop, Starbucks where they gladly took my "old" $100 dollar bill. I literally felt bad because everyone stops at coffee bean for coffee at 9am and being told that in front of everyone in line was humiliating!, it was very unpleasant. I hold a high title in one of the biggest Retailers in the mall and this is just horrible how you can have employees like these. I also know the concierge Boss at the oaks. Whom I will also communicate this too. And post this review on Yelp and Google café stop. So that everyone knows about this "old bill" issue. That way they dont go through the same thing.

This place is sick, cant believe it took me this long to find it shout out to my uncle who lives in Taiwan for telling me!The vibe here is soon Thousand Oaks, CA : open space, refurbished warehouse, hipsters everywhere, natural lighting, random terrariums, overpriced coffee wouldnt appreciate it much since I dont drink coffee. love it. This is a great study space and a great first date spot.I had the sparkling Cascara shrub, which is made out of the coffee fruit and tastes like Kochab. It was pleasantly light and although pricey, worth it in terms of being able to enjoy the relaxing environment of the coffee shop.
