My husband and I eat here frequently and we LOVE this place. My husband I took two of our friends (who are from Saudi Arabia) to eat here on Christmas eve of all times. They re-opened the restaurant just so that we could eat. It was BEYOND nice of them. Every time we have eaten there the food has been spectacular. and the staff could not possibly be nicer. Between my husband, our friends and I we have tried almost everything on the menu. So far our favorites are chicken shawarma, kufteh chicken, the amazing house chai tea and hands down the stuffed salmon. Im from Washington state and grew up on salmon fishing boats. Believe me. I KNOW salmon. I would never order salmon in a restaurant... so I was a bit skeptical when my husband ordered it. But it was so good that I called my father and told him that finally I had found a place that does salmon better than he does. I hope my husbands job stays here a long time so I can keep enjoying this amazing food. And my friends from Saudi Arabia... well.. one of them tells me frequently how bad he gets cravings for the food at Ali Babas. He said that it was the best he had had since he left home. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this restaurant! I would be here every night if our budget would allow it. ;)

My church group meets every Monday at Ali Baba Cafe so we may dine together and then discuss our coming weeks agenda. The food is very good indeed, always fresh (and with ample portions) and both the a la carte specials as well as the full meals are billed at a relatively low price--and honestly the only even remotely expensive item on the menu is the fresh TURKISH coffee. (You get a nice little pot that serves about three to five demitasse servings, and it is DELICIOUS--better than Starbux and at less cost!) Still, what makes dining here even more pleasant is the excellent service; the cook and the waitress are so attentive and helpful, you feel like family. Another nice thing is that without any fanfare or publicity or self-glorification, the owner opens his doors for four hours on the last Sunday afternoon of every month to feed the homeless, free of charge. (If you know someone who needs a good hot meal for nothing but showing up and asking, this is the place!) For these reasons, I encourage more people to discover this little gem on Madera and to come often, and eat a lot! Guy "wha-z-is-name"... : )

I went on my lunch break with 2 co-workers and it was relatively empty in the restaurant. We ordered and both co-workers received their dishes within 15mins, I however did not receive my meal until we were ready to leave and I asked for a to-go box. We asked the manager if there was a discount that he could offer us and after 5mins or more of mumbling under his breath he said he would not charge me for my meal. Although this seemed like a nice gesture, as we were walking away he asks, "Is that your to go plate?" and as soon as I turned around the manager GRABBED THE FOOD OUT OF MY HANDS AND THREW IT IN THE GARBAGE BIN because it wasnt charged and paid for!!! What in the world is wrong with this picture? First of all I was assaulted and he is very lucky that I did not press charges. Second I never asked for a free meal, I hadnt eaten and I was real hungry and the jerk threw my food away. My entire company is boycotting that ridiculous restaurant.

We noticed the restaurant when it first opened and just the name enticed us. We decided to give it a try. The food is delicious. It has become a weekly dining experience for us. We usually order take out and are particularly fond of the Chicken Shawarma platter which comes with a salad and delicious hummus. Yum! The staff is friendly and take the time to get to know their regular customers. They even knew and remembered our names after just a few visits. Ive been a frequent customer of other places before and have never had any of them know my name. It was a pleasant surprise. I definitely recommend giving the restaurant a try.

Our family eats with you every week and this last time we came we had your stuffed filet of salmon and my wife got the shrimp curry. We always eat the chicken, so this time we ventured out and IT WAS SO GOOD! I wanted to write the review because we talk to some of our friends and they didnt even know you were in Simi, so I wanna let people know you are like this little hidden secret on Madera in Simi with the BEST food in Simi as far as we are concerned. Also best hummus anywhere, period!

I have been going to this place since 2008 -not a single bad dish was served. Everything tastes fresh and made with care. Whether youre ordering a salad or a plate, fish, chicken, beef or lamb - everything is delicious. I never had indigestion or heartburn from their food and I have a very delicate stomach. The staff and owner are super nice. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Perfect for lunch or dinner. We usually have a company lunch here at least once a month. Thanks Omar and team!

I wish I hadnt told my vegetarian/ piscatorial parents about this place- its like the only place my dad wants now.For all you veggie eaters, he adores the eggplant and roasted red pepper Paganini- my mom likes everything veggie and not spicy.I almost lowered a star because Im being forced to eat at this place twice a week because of the parents loving it.Obviously its not the restaurants fault that they are so good but gosh darn it!

We like Ali Baba because the food is tasty and fresh. The staff has only been very nice. The place is clean and the tables arent crowded together. Last time I was there it appeared that the air conditioner wasnt working well and I detected some cleaning fluid smell in the air (Im a little sensitive to that), but that doesnt change my opinion on the place. I really like fresh, flavorful food.

I went here a few days ago after reading a few reviews. My wife had suggested we try someplace new in town instead of the same old taco places. Wow,what a nice surprise! The hummus dip was really good and the Falaffel was excellent. My wife ordered the chicken pita sandwich and loved it. Omar the manager was very friendly and made an extra falaffel ball for my wife to try. A nice discovery!

What a wonderful restaurant. Delicious food and great service. I can make any comparison between the food because everything in the menu has its special flavor that would make you smile once you test it. I go there every weekend with my friends. The chef is a nice person who always come to you with a smile in his face to make sure that everything is good and he is open for observations.

Delicious food. I ordered the chicken and beef shawarma with an order of chicken curry and it was delicious. The portion size is very generous and the order comes with hummus, pita bread, veggies, rice, and a salad. The owner is a class act, very nice and sociable. I definitely recommend to anyone who is interested you will not regret it!
