I have only been to this place three times. I am a busy traveller and professional, usually would stop and eat wherever i can while i get my other errands such as my laundry done. The first time I came to this place I was not impressed at all with the food. The second time I was there the lady was very rude. It looks like they are only nice to people coming in that they are familiar with. However if you are a stranger then you get ignored. You dont get the same service as anyone else that they know. The third time is worse. I came on a quiet afternoon, very tired so I decided to get some coffee to wake me up. My mistake to try and go to the closest place i know. As soon as i payed for the coffee the lady sent me out. The place was empty but she would not let me stay. I guess it would be understandable if it was crrowded and people needed tables but there were only two other people there that came to pick up a take out order. She poured the coffee in a styrofaom cup big enough for take home soup. Very bland. For $2.00. I should have just gone to starbucks and got my coffee there. I am not sure if it was an insult to chinese culture for buying coffee at a chinese restaurant but that was definitely something I have not experienced before. And by the way, very poor food handling. Big red flag! The lady accepted money from few other customers, wiped her hands and started making wontons right away. I am not sure if they are even required to wash their hands before they start making food again.

My daughter likes this place, so while we do laundry next door we usually go to Happy Garden for dinner. Ive never been a big fan as I found the food rather tasteless but on our last visit, just as I was scooping the last of Mushu Pork or something off the platter, there it was = a cockroach. If someone had told me this story I probably wouldnt have believed it. I guess it could happen anywhere but I think what really got me was the restaurant (owner?)s response. "Oh, sorry". Thats it! Well, Im sorry too that I cant pass by the place without a flashback.

Food tasted pretty good. Fresh. However the portions are teeeeeny. Im from sacramento for a 12$ dinner you get a huge plate enough for probably 2 or 3 people. Wonton soup was broth and two overcooked wontons. Prawns were pretty good. And the almond chicken was fresh and crunchy. So 3 out of 5. I can see its because of the location they can basically do whatever they want. But i wont be back.

Located in the shopping complex which has Whole Foods. Cheap lunch. But OMG, never thought Chinese food could be this bad. I love Chinese, had it in many different countries and think you really cant go that wrong....but thats before I walked into this establishment. Everything smelled and tasted funny...and Im Asian!! And the service.....dont even want to mention it. Please avoid.

I have been going to Happy Garden for over 10 years with my family and we absolutely adore every aspect of this sweet place. The people, service and food are excellent and Lisa (Hostess and owner) has become part of our family. Get Happy and you will always go back for more!!!

I like this place for good old fashioned Chinese food. They have stuff that the fast food places dont have. Beef Chow Fun is great. Dont know about the last comment. The restaurant is clean and the hostess is on top of things. Doesnt sound like the same place I go to.

Sonoma my home town, my ex is from Hong Kong. Ive even eaten jelly fish salad as his family owned restaurants in China Town & also San Rafael. This little restaurant lives up to great Chinese food. So negative quids are just canned paste.

This restaurant has the best egg fo young in the world (sorry about the spelling). It is the only reason I regret moving from Sonoma. I have never found anything as good anywhere (and I am still looking after seven years) Try it.

fast, friendly, fresh......am i forgetting anything? oh yeah-frugal, as in the prices are incredibly low. great combos and theyll sub chicken for pork on anything
