The bartenders are great and friendly but they close their bar at about 9 p.m. daily except for Friday and Saturday when its busy with karaoke. So if you expect to go there after work (if youre a bartender or something) forget it. Its dirty, theres no working refrigeration in the bar either which makes me a little nervous about the kitchen as well. It looks a little bit run down. In fact I know it is because I used to work there. The owner is a jerk and tries to scam people and talks badly about them. Talks badly about his own customers & employees. I took a job there and was promised Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. He tried to make it even between the couple of bartenders so that each bartender had one weekend evening shift to make money because thats when karaoke is happening & when its packed, & you work by yourself. Well, I was completely trained AND had bartended before, and he kept letting the other MALE bartender work, saying I was incapable of doing it. He had no choice one night when the man couldnt make it in and I did great. I kept up with everybody, I was complimented on how good my drinks tasted and he still wouldnt let me work that day after telling me thats what I was being hired to work. Also, had I known that my shifts were going to be 4 hours long I never would have worked there. Disappointing in that sense. Customer service not so good. Some of the food is okay; some not., some so so.

Its sad to lose an old friend. For decades, the Royal Unicorn served up a vast array of Chinese food, most of it substantially better than your run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. Three months ago, however, ownership changed, along with the management and chefs. They have not improved on anything -- quite the contrary. We ordered a large number of dishes, not one of which was anywhere near as good as its predecessor under the old owners. To take one example: the "special" chow mein was an unappealing gray monochrome glob of noodles and chicken, no vegetables. All the other dishes had way too much onion. Every dish was bland and oily. The kitchen was much slower than before. Our waiter, who has served us for years, put a brave face on it, but acted embarrassed about the food and the slowness with which it came. They have added some Thai dishes to the menu. We suggest they learn to cook Chinese first. Better yet, dont. The chefs are untalented and uninspired. The love is gone. After thirty-some years, sadly, there is no reason to go back.

I have to review this restaurant after 5 orders now. The first time I ordered a Combo meal they forgot the soup, and the 3rd time and the 5th time, just tonight. Not so sure why they keep missing it. The food is hit and miss. It seems every other order, and we order pretty much the same time each time, it good or bad, no consistency. Ordered the Drunken Noodle tonight, the noodles were thin dry noddles that stuck together as the sauce seemed to be absent. The shrimp was too "shrimpy" is smell and taste, and way too many bell peppers. Why must everyone use bell peppers as a filler? You can get a free Crab Rangoon with a $30 order but they are never hot, as if they are pre-made for the night. Hubby got the Orange Peel Beef, which was much better than the Drunken Noodle. I am giving up on this place and will find another that can produce consistent food product.

So glad I discovered the Royal Unicorn! I wish this place was in my neighborhood so I could eat here more often. My boyfriend is sooo picky about his Almond Fried Chicken & this is pretty much the only place hell go to eat it now! I prefer my Almond Chicken Stir-fried with vegetables and guess what? They have that here too! Most places in Seattle dont have both so I was really excited about that. The food here is so yummy and fresh & the guy that works here is super friendly and makes a really good drink too! Its pretty amazing how he never writes down our order and gets it exactly right every time especially considering how busy he usually is. Love this place!

This place is a mega dive but I love their Chinese food. They have karaoke on the weekends and maybe even on Thursday, Im not sure. If youre into some good people-watching and possibly a fight, you never know. The Royal uni is definitely the place to go. Im trying to be honest about my post so that you know what its like, but I stopped by here once every month or two.

Good food for cheap. Not the most welcoming employees, but the cheap food coupled with cheap prices makes it well worth it. As a dine-in, its 3.5 stars, but for pick up, its a five star restaurant. I get what I want, quickly, and for a good price.

New owners. Menu online is not the same. Food is meh at best. Quality is not good at all and tastes old. Ordered crab wontons and were given fried pieces of wonton with nothing inside. Not in impressed at ALL! Will not return

Excellent fresh food and service! The cooks use no msg and not too much salt. Google had posted that the restaurant is closed on weekends. Not so! They are open of course, and I see that Google has corrected this. Good.

The driver apologized and seemed like a good kid but I placed an order for delivery at 12:22 pm today and the food did not arrive till 1:40 pm, whats the hold up ? food arrived soggy and cold . this is not acceptable

For price, I really liked this.. take this review with some leeway. I was in the mood for chinese food. Not Teriyaki, Sushi, Pho, or Thai. Chinese food.. and this place had it i ate it and it was plenty good for me.
