I love this place, ever since the new management or owner took over. The food is FANTASTIC and always different. I love mango chutney, and they are the ONLY Indian restaurant around here that has that on their buffet. Service is great, and they have Chai that comes with the buffet! The atmosphere is very nice, too, since they refurbished the inside. OH and the bathrooms are now nice. I like this more than Ambrosia in Aptos.

This place used to be the Royal Taj which was my favorite Indian food of all the places Ive tried it; San Jose, San Francisco, Amsterdam. So when they changed to Maharaja I was a little skeptical, but its just as good if not better. Its reasonably priced, and the lunch buffet is a great deal with awesome variety. Service is on point and friendly too.

Service was great, but the food was just alright. Very greasy, decent flavors. The naan and onion kulcha were glistening like kids with oily sunblock under the morning sun. The korma was decent and the paneer pakora was the best of the fried veggie platter, but unless youre recovering from a hangover, Id try another place next time.

Your best option for Indian in Santa Cruz. Anywhere else, this place would be a 3, but here it looks a lot better in comparison. Solid and affordable lunch buffet that is mostly vegetarian and comes with yummy chia(serve yourself).

Good price, but below-average food. I shouldnt expect to be "wowed" by a $13 dinner, but there was nothing special about my Saturday night visit. The host was also my waiter, and he bused the tables. Somethings not right.
