Joze is a tucked-away little gem on Front Street. Joe spent years traveling and accumulating international cuisines from the Mediterranean, Iran, India, Nepal, and more. The menu is his cherry-picked takes on the best aspects of these various cuisines. The meals are flavorful, balanced, healthy, and leave you feeling good. If youre lucky, you can snag a spot with a widow into the kitchen and watch the master at work. Joze is cash only, and the lady who often works the front is very brisk, but dont worry, she doesnt hate you! Shes making sure everything keeps moving and the food gets out quickly. I highly recommend the Joze Dahl for a simple dinner to leave you feeling good, or the Berber burger for something a step above.

Holy Moly! This place is so many things. Its part dance studio next door, part Vietnamese, part Thai, part Indian, but never infused with one another. They are very particular about keeping the tastes separate which makes them each stand out even more. Being Pakistani-Indian, I had expectations coming in, but they were all blown in the best possible way. Sasha was truly amazing!! The owner was incredibly kind as well. Thank you, sir! Note: The Dahl, and Ca-something Basa is very good. Fish is lightly cooked and flaky, not fishy at all.

We went for the "Now Rooz Persian New Year Feast." The food was fabulous. The dancers (House of Inanna) really added to the experience. The venue was tiny and eclectic; plenty of interesting things to see and the food is fabulous. Not the most comfortable seating, but quiet enough to hold a conversation. The people serving were very friendly and helpful. We absolutely plan to go back when were in that part of town. (Did I mention the food was fabulous?)

This place is a legend ~ this guy Joseph Schultz has had a restaurant in Santa Cruz for 43 years !! Really, not many can say that !! What a colorful storied epic history it has been. Every long time Santa Cruz local has a story about India Joze. And now here he is in a smaller, leaner, more magical venue than ever before....A perfect background for this flavor adventure ! Truly, this chef is pure culinary Alchemist !!

The food at India Joze is fantastic, every time I go I get whatever on the specials menu includes Basa (a catfish from Asia) and Ive never been disappointed. The Dahl (A big bowl of lentil stew with flatbread and rice on the side) is probably the best meal you can get in Santa Cruz for $6 and if you like interesting drinks, theyve got them in spades. I visit every week at the very least.

Ive yet to have a menu item at Joze that I didnt like. Flavourful sampling of world cuisine--Thai, Indian, Balinese, and Moroccan (to name a few). Everything is prepared fresh and the prices are incredibly reasonable. Pro tip: If you place your order online, you get a $1 discount on each entree!

great food with lots of nightly specials. Great vegetarian and non vegetarian options, friendly staff, inexpensive, and a chutney bar! not really indian food as you might have guessed from the name, but plenty of east and far east influence in the menu
