Yes, the items are good but the seating is unconventional and the staff is rude. They dont greet you and explain that you get in line her to order the baked goods.Then they talk to each other while ignoring customers and if you order food they act like they are making Art they take for ever for the price you pay and the poor seating you think they would make toast quicker and help each other coffee guy was swamped and the girl at the other counter was just standing their? typical santa cruz Bad customer service I wont be back I can get baked good at other places

Amazing and wonderful delicacies made here! Spacious and lovely interior, which is nice, because if youre there at a popular time of day (is there any other kind at this deservedly-adored spot?), youll be in line for a while. Thats okay, though, as it will give you a chance to poll your neighbors for the scoop on all the fabulous food you havent tried yet. I can vouch for the blueberry coffeecake -- it has a fancier title, which Ive forgotten, but I well remember how good it tasted and how delicately it fell apart on my fork and in my mouth. Yum!

Always tasty pastries, good coffee, and great bread. Im personally a sucker for the goats horn, which is a loaf with cheese in it (feels a bit like cheating, I admit, but I dig it). Also highly recommend the quiche and frittata, which are amazing, but make sure to come early as they tend to sell out before too long. They put out good sandwiches around noonish. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I come here at least a couple days a week for breakfast and am always happy.

Fabulous! What a class operation. Not only are the baked goods amazingly delicious, with a great variety of things you dont find elsewhere, but theres attention to so many other details: Beautiful flowers on the big communal table, good music on a clean sound system, pretty lighting, intelligent friendly staff, and even specialty coffee, made with skill ... Blue Bottle from SF-- I was skeptical that a bakery would pull it off, but they know what theyre doing! Delicious.

I was completely and utterly blown out of the water by this place! I am one of the pickiest people when it comes to bakeries and I was absolutely amazed by how delicious everything was! Ive had their pastries, breads, and coffee and thought everything was absolutely delicious! I will absolutely be going back again! When I visited it was incredibly busy, but the staff worked swiftly and kept the line moving.

The smells alone would be enough to bring me back every day. Delicious breads baked fresh every day, served by really friendly people. I was a little overwhelmed with all the choices when I walked in but the person behind the counter was really helpful. I especially loved the hearty rye with carroway seeds and a couple of their pies. Delicious.

Great little coffee / bread shop in West Side Santa Cruz. Indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff producing the more creative side of breakfast. I had a tasty spicy chai along with some egg concoction that was foreign and tasty. What i have to rave about is the cinnamon bread slices that i had with butter, soo fresh and tasty!!

Delicious Bread!! Oh my gosh these are the best bread I have ever had. My favorite is the 3 seed. The walnut and rye are also delicious. I wish I knew how to make breads this special. Scones are also amazing. I love the gluten free one and they have a great olallieberry almond scone too. Cant wait to get more.

A treasure. My favorite bread ever, including other gourmet bay area bakers, and time living or traveling in Germany, Italy and France. Organic, healthy, and made from starter rather than yeast (which means lower gluten and generally tastier and better for you). Their bread is a staple of my familys diet!

THE BEST bakery in Santa Cruz! Their gluten free brownies are better than any brownie (gluten free or not) Ive ever had. They also serve Four Barrel coffee, which is great. They had to stop serving Blue Bottle due to Blue Bottles new barrista policy :(

Before eating here, Id suggest you kill your tastebuds at a local pub because the food here tastes nasty. After hearing all the great things about this place, then trying it, Im convinced half of Santa Cruz is composed of literally tasteless customers.

The pastry I got was good but I asked for an extra hot mocha which was at best, luke warm. And they refused to make it hotter. I have had hundreds of mochas from hundreds of coffee shops and they are the only one who refused to give me a hot drink.

Excellent "rustic" bakery. My favorites are koung amman, the palmier, and Annies rye. Lots of whole grain choices, kids play section, and a barista for drinks.
