The food has been fairly good. I did have one sandwich (today actually) that was underwhelming but thats the exception and not the rule. The vibe in the shop is very mellow and young. The workers interact with their customers and that lightens up the environment. The menu is refreshing and funny. The pictures on the beverage machines (go in and see what I mean) are even funnier! Seating is limited but the food is made well and quickly. Bonus!! Go around back and look at the artwork painted on the back of the Sandwich Spot! I found this out by accident while trying to find parking to get lunch. Its spectacular!

Sandwich spot is one of those places youll get huge and messy sandwiches, not the thin and dry kind. Every single option has a good portion of meat and its a challenge to finish. Jon The Bomb and Central Park Heat are among my favorites, though any one of the featured sandwiches are great. Its a small shop downtown with a sports leaning as its always playing the latest game inside. They guys behind the counter are younger and have generally fun personalities. On a nice weathered weekend, a stroll downtown usually results in grabbing a sandwich here.

Really good sandwich place in downtown San Mateo. It can take a little while to get your sandwich made, but its being done by hand and the sandwiches are really good. If youve got the extra few minutes to wait, its worth it. Theyve got a really extensive sandwich menu, so you have plenty of options. Even at lunch you can generally find a place to sit inside, though theres not many seats.

This place is easy to miss. Theres been times where I was looking for this place and missed it, so they might need a bigger sign. Beyond that minor quibble all of the sanwiches that I have tried have been good and ill take the small, locally owned sub shop any day over the big guys. Go try it, as long as you can find it!

small yet satisfying. not sure of the guys name when I went in there but wow he makes a killer sandwich. Im a big food critic. always trying new things I asked the guy what he recommends and to just make it. he made Me the madbum with his own lil flair. best sandwich Ive eaten at the sandwich spot

Best sandwich place in downtown SM except maybe the counter at Draegers. Good meats, good bread, fast service, friendly staff, Central location. I know some people love Ikes but the lack of proper crusty rolls and the long hike to the other side of the tracks makes it a distant #2 for me.

Just left with my order. They messed up the order--put mustard on both sandwiches. And To make matters worse, I just went to take a bite of my vegetarian sandwich and theres pieces of meat on the bottom of it!! Dont waste your money. Total stoners!
