I went here at 11:45am for lunch with a friend. We wanted to beat the lunch crowd. First, the ambiance. They only have seating outside on the sidewalk. Inside, theres just enough room for a 4 person line in front of the counter. The Mexican ladies are very nice and easy to understand. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich sans pickles. My friend ordered the Pastrami con muchos jalapeños. I really liked the bread -- it was very soft. My friend didnt think it was anything special. My friend really enjoyed his sandwich. He appreciated that it was piled high with fresh California veggies. Especially the diced jalapeños, which added a surprising kick. The tomatoes were super fresh and sweet too. And very red. I was very satisfied with my sandwich. The bread and chicken were warm and savory, and veggies were generously portioned and cool. Neither of us would say we were blown away, though. They had a decent selection of drinks and potato chips (my friend went with his favorite - cracked pepper and sea salt). Two cans of diet coke rounded out the meal. Id go again. If there was a line, it would have been uncomfortably slow.

We found this place looking for gluten free options. The owner was excited to talk about his homemade gluten free bread recipes and his ideas for other gluten free products. The sandwiches he made us were very good. I had the Avocado bacon sandwich and it was the best sandwich Ive had in a very long time. The prices were reasonable, and the staff were very friendly. Many people just popped their heads in to say hello to the owner. The decor is nothing special, and once you try his food you realize he puts all of his energy into making great breads and sandwiches. You should really check this place out.

De primer nivel, Super Sandwiches con una variedad de pan, vegetales, embutidos y quesos, combinados de una excelente manera, tostado, caliente o dorado. El dueño es muy mal hablado tal vez por eso los jalapeños estan en su punto. Economico, delicioso y diferente. Una joya en la Mision

I dont get it. This must be one of those places that pays for a high Yelp listing, because both the coffee and sandwich were sub par. The bread wasnt even well toasted, and that pretty easy to get right. Three stars for the great service only, because the ladies who run it seem awesome, clearly have lots of regulars and were nothing but nice. But I just wanted some decent food to go. The avocado was perfect, so I ate that off the sandwich. The rest of it was not worth the wait.

I tried this place out after reading a bunch of positive reviews. I lived down the street from Ikes for a while, so I know what a good sandwich tastes like in SF. This small almost-hidden place serves HUGE tasty sandwiches, isnt stingy on the meat and the staff there has a great attitude and makes sure the vagrants dont bother the clientele. So far my favorites have to be the Reuben and their breakfast sandwiches but I plan to try a whole lot more.

Juan is the best, and he makes great sandwiches too! He also has plenty of vegetarian options, and great homemade soups. Juan also cares a lot about the surrounding community. Oh, and did I mention that he makes great sandwiches? :) Also, regarding this comment: "I dont get it. This must be one of those places that pays for a high Yelp listing". Lol. No, he does nothing of the sort. He is just amazing, and youre incredibly snooty.

Have you ever eaten at a place thats SO GOOD you had to retroactively go back and reduce all other reviews youve ever given by one star just to do it justice? Cuz thats what eating at this place is like. I got the Reuben with the Baguette instead of the rye, and added a few veggies like tomatoes/onions/pepperoncinis

Juan and his family who run The Sandwich Place are so great here. They are nice, quick, and really make an effort to get to know "regulars". The cutest thing was when Juans elderly mother tried to help me pay via Square. The sandwiches are delicious, so good that I try a new one every time I go.

Yes, the sandwiches are great with a good variety of meat and veggie. The bread is fresh and consistently good. I recently had a chance to check out the new location in San Mateo which has already gotten popular so the lunch lines are getting longer. Thanks Ike for coming to San Francisco!

I am usually pretty reluctant to try sandwich places because they just dont get me that excited but since this place had a 4.6 star rating I decided to give it a try and I loved it. The owner was a super cool guy and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back many times.

Stumbled upon this place looking for breakfast. Took a minute, but well worth the short wait. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich is awesome. You can taste the freshness in the bread. More than the food, I dont think Ive had a more enjoyable wait talking to Juan, the owner.

It has the grittiness of mission street with the prices of Valencia. Sandwich was smaller and greasier than hipster places of similar pricing. Its quite expensive for a small greasy sandwich on Mission St. Friendly service, probably wouldnt come out of my way to get back here.

Its a good value, lots for an economical price. I got a vegetarian like sandwich and I enjoyed it. They do soups too but it wasnt as good as the sandwiches. I prefer their non meat sandwiches because like most places, the meat isnt high quality. It will fill you up though.

Very good, unique, and flavorful menu. Something for everybody, and the people that run it are great. They have a couple of tables to sit out front. It was good, but a little rough on my stomach.
