I was really suprised when I went here last night. I normally try to only get to go food because Im not a fan of sitting around waiting in a restaruant. We arrived and were promptly given water, tea and menus. We were then checked on shortly asking if we were ready to order which we were. Our waiter brought us our other drinks after taking out order and then our food was out on the table in less than 10 minutes easy. It really only felt like 5 minutes. Refill game was on point, drinks werent empty for more than a minute. Price isnt bad for how much food you get either. I will be down to go here again for sure.

Weve been eating at MG as long as we can remember, and its the best Chinese weve found in SLO. Sadly, theres not much competition. Not sure what authentic Chinese actually is, but we love multiple dishes at MG. Lunch is the best deal, and their hot and sour soup is a must for us. My favorite is Mongolian Beef or Kung Pao Chicken (both ordered EXTRA spicy), and my wife likes the Orange Chicken best, and though we are regulars, we do mix up what we order on occasion. Its a classic neighborhood restaurant - willing to modify your order, and they bring the food quickly, which we like.

Best Chinese in SLO - Mandarin Gourmet easily has the most flavorful, diverse chinese food in the town. The orange chicken is my favorite. They add chiles to it, making it perfectly spicy. Mongolian Beef is really good as well. The prices are a little high for my taste, but you do get a lot of food as well, enough for leftovers for sure. I have found the service lacking at times, but the food is really the main draw and is the saving grace of this restaurant. If you live here, or just visiting and want the best Chinese that SLO has to offer, you have to go to MG

We liked this place. The sauces were very tasty and the staff pleasant. The reason for the 3-star review was the fattiness of the beef. My wife had a beef dish and I had a mix of beef, chicken and seafood. In both of our meals, the beef was so chewy we didnt want to finish it or even bring those bits of leftovers home, which is rare. Maybe we just picked the wrong night for our first experience there. We heard good things from friends so may try our luck once more, but not after sampling elsewhere for Chinese.

Called in an order for takeout of two combo pho with NO tripe and it was mainly all tripe! This was a huge dissapointment as it was near impossible to pick out and mainly was thrown out. They gave us barely any basil and then they forgot the peanut sauce that comes with the salad rolls. Most dissapointing take out for two experience weve ever had and 37 dollars and change. Called to alert them and the owner was too busy to talk or call back. With attitude like that wont last long in slo

I just called this restaurant and asked them if they have fish in black bean sauce. and he said that they do not have any seafood dishes other than Frozen shrimps so I had to ask this guy you know the whole basis of Chinese food is fish thats their main stay. So how could it be a real Chinese restaurant if they dont serve fish? So that was sad to discover. Being from Los Angeles, that really caught me off-guard but I just told the guy, why dont you just call it McDonalds then.

Decided to try this place during my visit to SLO. Ordered egg foo yong and noticed that it was fully loaded with vegetables. Well the pork one that I ordered was severely undercooked and tough as rawhide. The egg was micro-thin and had no taste to it whatsoever, not even the sauce had any flavor. Super big disappointment for me since I was really looking forward to eating their best chinese food in town. Avoid at all cost.

4 stars for the decent Pho. Not Bay Area good, but good for around here. They do use local Hearst Beef. Much of the regular far is way oily. The American help really has no clue about the food. The owner/ cooks are genuine Chinese/ Vietnamese. Run down, but has local crowds. Sadly not much in Chinese in SLO....need to go to Santa Barbara for Dim Sum.

One of the better Chinese food establishments you can find around town. The food is well priced and offers a good sit down establishment with nice atmosphere. This is by no means and "authentic" Chinese eatery, but I dare you to find one on the Central Coast.

The salad rolls are awesome. Servers are usually pretty cool and the portions are huge. A couple times, though, Ive ordered stuff that tastes like piss. An acquired taste? The price/quality ratio is very good and they give you a lot of rice. I ♥ rice.

I called ahead to order lunch for take out. Advised 15-20 minutes. Showed up after 20 minutes elapsed. Waited another 10 minutes. Still no food but my lunch was over.

Great food and good service. Knocked off one star because they seated us ...an older couple .....to where we were surrounded by families with small children.

If you like healthy flavorful, fresh food this is NOT the place. I had a bland mu shu with dry stale pancakes. Not good at all.

My sons $10 chow mein was a greasy mess with a lot of gristle in the white meat chicken. Nothing gourmet about this place.

Food and service is good. Ask for Pot Stickers not crispy or they burn them. Pot Stickers very tasty if not overcooked.
