Theres not a lot of good Chinese food anywhere in the area, and honestly this place isnt great, but the Mongolian beef is tender and the rest of the food I tried isnt bad. The ambassador green beans is a sweet dish, which I didnt expect, and was disappointing. Hot and sour soup wasnt very hot or sour. The wait staff, however, is exceptional! Very friendly and very attentive. Its often packed as people tend to bring large groups here (portions are very generous), but I never have to call the wait staff over, theyre always on the ball. Theres parking on the side street one in from main Street and its usually got room. Its only 2 hour parking until 6 pm, but that means its not a problem for lunch or dinner. All in all, its probably the best Chinese food Ive had in Santa Maria, and definitely better than anything youll find North in the five cities or San Luis Obispo. Worth a try, you might like sweet green beans!

North China is seriously the best and most satisfying Chinese restaurant weve found on the Central Coast. The servers are on point, bringing tea first, then asking for meal options; we loved the beef and broccoli, plum sauce chicken, the flavors are true to my expectation, and served hot from the kitchen. Chow mein probably geared more to Central Coast palates, so may not order it again. Can hardly wait to go back and explore the rest of the menu!

This place is over rated by ppl. First and last time I went there it took for ever for someone to acknowledge us. Once we ordered our food one plate came out first then 30 min later my meal came out. Nobody apologized for being late and my meal was over seasoned and the orange chicken was old and crusty. Price was too high for that junk food. Save your money or go to Magic Dragon instead. Magic Dragon is 1000 times better.

This is a little treasure I found born and raised in Santa Maria, I had gone here when I was a little girl, hadnt gone since, my husband took me for dinner and oMG the food is so fresh authentic, and the place is super clean, the service is fantastic, this is by far my favorite chinese restaurant anywhere along the central coast, if you havent ate here, you are missing out

FANTASTIC! both food and service were terrific. I had the spicy eggplant, which was not too spicy, a great balance of spicy, sweet and sour. The waitresses work as a team and they were fast and friendly. I lived in this area about 20 years ago, but was back in town for business at Vandenberg AFB. Im so glad I checked Google for a recommended restaurant!

BOMB! Best Chinese food Ive had, compares to no other! Ive been going there for more than 26 years (since I was in my moms belly) and I will continue to go! Definitely recommend, wont find better Chinese than this! North china chicken, north china lo mein, and north china shrimp are my faves... =)

Best Chinese food in Santa Maria valley by far. Great/friendly service. Curry Shrimp entre is insanely good...tons of shrimp per order. The only thing i do not like are the water chestnuts in every single meal... i think they are pointless and prevent me from literally inhaling all my food!

The vegetables are fresh, but the food is just okay. We paid $36 for two entrees, so we expected more than "just okay". This place is over-hyped and WAY overpriced. I think a lot of people who like this restaurant like it because it is nostalgic for them. The staff are super nice though.

Went there twice for lunch. Both times they vacuumed while me and my wife were trying to eat. I wouldnt mind if they tried to vacuum other parts, but right next to me and under MY table while I am trying to eat? Also food wasnt impressive, especially for how much it cost

Im from new york, and havent had good chinese food in a long time. then was driving down the street and saw "north china" and it look like a legit restaurant, so went inside, and omg...so good. 3 of us usually go, and get the dinner for 4. so good. food coma later tho.

There was a short wait time for dinner, the food was excellent, and the restaurant was clean. The waitress was very busy, but did an excellent job of getting us what we needed. I frequently go there for lunch and their lunch combinations are delicious also.

Fantastic food, we got the sizzling rice soup, cashew chicken, pork with string beans and red bean ice cream. We spent much of dinner discussing how delicious the food was. The staff was five star..friendly, attentive, and simply wonderful.
