The staff (given the kind of place) is excellent. Decor is early school cafeteria with booths, which you should expect. There are minor menu changes from time to time, most often the soups. Salad selection is pretty good but ironically they often dont have tomatoes (other than those teeny cherry-sized toughskin thangs). Weirdest chicken soup around, and I dont mean that in a good way. Chili is okay but has kidney beans which should be illegal. Albondigas is great when available; some of the best anywhere. Very good selection of soda/coffee. Youll probably be entertained by the Screaming Babies, a common San Jose floor show. If theyre not appearing, you can usually count on the Whiner Kids to fill in. Should both be missing youll be treated to yet another inexplicable corporate music selection.

This location never seems to have romain lettuce. You get iceberg lettuce which has zero nutritional value (this place is suppose to be a healthy alternative? To what? Eating salted cardboard?) And some mesculine mix then some pre dressed stuff which is usually wilty as a piece of wet toilet paper and sometimes spinach. What kind of restaurant that specializes in a salad bar doesnt have romain? Every other buffet in this city ive been to has a salad bar with guess what? ROMAIN LETTUCE !!!O: ......I can go to mcdonalds and get a healthier salad for less. Then when i try to ask management about it apparently of the 2 managers present neither understand a lick of english. I may as well have been talking to a wall. Glad to see those prices theyre charging pay off for the patrons.

Rosa is a gem! There is a lovely woman named Rosa who works during the afternoon and she is always there with a smile on her face. She will always ask how people are doing and always makes me feel so welcome when I am there. My husband and I work in downtown SJ and come here about once a week. The food is fresh and I feel good that I am making a healthy and tasty choice for lunch. I must admit I have gone to A LOT of Sweet Tomatoes all over the bay area and I can honestly say: this is the best. Very clean, organized, not many screaming kids and most importantly the staff is soooo friendly. Everyone there is nice but my favorite is Rosa, she has very short hair, always has a hat, wears glasses and a friendly smile. She is a sweetheart!

Good for kids to help themselves. So good, some nights can be overwhelming with multiple screeching kids running up and down aisles to the food tables, creating spills along the way. I am a parent, so I understand, but not a good place for young couples on dates. Healthy options. Lots of choices to dress up and top your salads. Not so great if you hunger for meat. Good all you eat soups. Staff is not too quick to refill popular dishes in the hot buffet or the self service bowls and utensils. Flow is not good at baked potato station; when anyone stops to top his/her potato, no one else can easily reach and dress potatoes.

My family enjoys this Sweet Tomatoes location out of all the San Jose locations. I was surprised that they recently raised the price or actually lowed the discount that they e-mail out to all their club members. The recent price with the Club Veg coupon is $27.99 for a family of four Monday-Thursday and $29.99 for Friday-Sunday. Even though the prices have went up, Im sure we will still continue to visit this restaurant because the food is usually pretty fresh, the restaurant is relatively clean compared to the other locations, and the kids love the dessert.

This place used to be awesome. They make things from scratch and it shows. Ive been to this and the South San Jose location a few times recently and it has gone downhill. Bankruptcy has not been kind to them as it trickled down fast. Last few visits have shown they are slow to refill the buffet, less staff are present, tables are left dirty or waiting to be bussed. On the last visit the softserve machine was broken and no dessert was present an hour and a half before closing.

Big salad bar with a good selection of fresh vegetables, and also with several choices of soups, pastas, and breads. The Coleman location has an industrial looking cafeteria. The lighting is on the harsh side. Food is good, but this location seems to be always understaffed (at least during dinner times), so some areas get wiped out and not replenished very timely. I feel for the bussers. Theyre frantically cleaning up to keep pace with the turnover.

I use a coupon code on my smart phone, and I am able to get a good price every time I come in. This locations layout is great because their food area is not directly behind the register, making getting your food easier. This is my favorite buffet restaurant in the whole San Jose area. It can get pretty loud and crowded sometimes, so I try to come at less popular hours (before and after typical lunch hours)

There were no forks available until I asked someone for them. One of the fountain drinks was out, and the cashier looked at me like I was crazy when I said it was out. The bathrooms smelled bad. Also, one of the bakers wiped off the counter with a cleaning rash and then served up blueberry muffins within changing her plastic gloves. This place used to be way better.

Nothing out of the ordinary, normal Sweet Tomatoes experience. Caught in the lunch rush so some items were empty at the salad bar on my side. New thing for me was the sign saying you couldnt use trays for the baked goods, I dont go that often so I dont know how long its been there.. The pizza, abysmal squares. The lady who cleaned the tables in our area was nice.

Took 30 minutes to check out. Only one person on the registers during rush. Proper food safety protocols were not being followed. Salad bar bins were being topped off instead of waiting until they are empty and replacing. Not a great place to go on a lunch break. Construction going on in the middle of the day. Staff was generally nice but definitely overworked.

The food here is pretty consistent, Ive been here a couple times and the food is pretty much the same (in a good way). They have a nice selection of seasonal / limited items; there was an apple crumble the last time I went. The only thing I would improve is that the restocking time could be better, there were a few times things were empty.

This is my new favorite. The menu selection is fresh, clean and delicious. Maybe the price is higher than Fresh Choice, but you get more value for your hard earned money. Even the kids enjoyed it. The wait staff was also attentive. You gotta try this place and make it a regular place for fresh, healthy, nutritious food.
