My husband and I just moved in to the area and have been passing by this sign that says Sagar Sweets & Restaurant so I decided to Google it. Being a huge fan of Indian food, I was so happy to find out I live next to one! I read the reviews of course but didnt let myself be discouraged by the negative reviews as some people did seem to like it. The food is different from the usual Indian food Ive had but I do enjoy the flavors and I like that I can actually taste real ingredients. The owner was very nice to give us mango lassi on the house while waiting for our take out order since they only served it if you dined in. I like that it isnt too thick and its definitely perfect with any dish! He also gave us a generous sample of the Punjabi Curry which Im very thankful for because its now one of my favorite things here. Oh and of course, dont forget to order the samosa! It is fresh and crispy and flavorful! I normally have a low tolerance to spicy foods but despite most dishes being spicy, Im happy to tolerate it because the flavors are so worth it! This is definitely going to be a go-to spot for me.

Been in business since 1978, so they must be doing something right... Absolutely the best Tandoori Chicken Ive ever had, hands down. Ever. You have to try it, well worth the wait because they make it fresh! Get some delicious samosas as you wait. But you dont eat meat and your so upset you want to go drown yourself? Do it! In their mouthwatering Pani Puri aka Golgappa! Want to impress some white people? Bring them here and get Naan bread! "OMG! BECKY! THIS IS THE BEST. THING. EVER!! Im gonna tweet it." - White person. Best place to get your sweets. You just had a kid? Get laddos to celebrate your laddo! Having that auntie over that hates on everything? She wont hate these fresh hot jalebis! Your Nani getting on your last nerve and wish she would just shut up? Get her some barfis and enjoy some peace and quiet as she falls into a sugar sleep coma!

The inside decor is not the greatest, however it was not that reason for 2 .. food was also not great or even average ... tasted a bit pungent Tried thali and the owner/chef or whoever he was, was reluctant to answer which 2 dishes would be served if we ordered thali ..and he was like he is going to prepare the best meal and we shouldnt bother which dishes ... no one is questioning how food is going to taste, before eating it, however let us know what would be served (if someone doesnt like xyz dish in thali, he would order something else)... anyways, food taste was not the greatest to rate it average

I dont know why Im giving one star. The owner is garbage. He dont know how to behave with someone. His customer service is bad. You can watch flies are flying all over. Their restroom is very dirty. They have hygiene problem. Sweets are kept open. Very dirty place to eat. One of the worse restaurant in Bay Area. He dont even change his dirty cloths. It seems he is saving lot of water for San Jose by not taking shower. If you want to see joker just go over there. You will write the same experience.

Really good samosas and the owner is rsally friendly(although he does not look like it). Order ahead in case you are going just for the samosas..he makes it from scratch and you can tell that after taking the 1st bite. Not a fan of other things on the menu...A lot of options for indian sweets but they dont taste fresh.

New remodeling looks great and feels amazing. The foods got an upgrade as well. Everything tastes so great. This is my go to restaurant. Better than my moms homemade food. It is a must try Indian restaurant. If you do go you must try samosas, paneer pakora, jalebis, fish pakora, gobi Manchuria, papdi chat and more!!

Ive tried a lot of the menu items (curries, chaat, breads). Honestly would recommend avoiding most of the selections here. However, their samosas and gelabis are some of the best Ive tasted. Go for those alone and make sure to ask for fresh samosas (worth the wait).

I wish I could have given my rating in negative numbers!! Such a horrible place with rotten and stale food! (They sprinkle red chili powder on top of stale white rice and call it BIRYANI..just disgusting) I never had such poor quality Indian food till date in the US.

Worse Indian food I ever ate. Flies are all over. The owner himself making sweets with dirty hands. Not recommended at all. Jewel of India is far better and they are located by Alum rock and 280.

Bought diwali Sweets and they were awesome. The owner treated us with free Jalebis as well. Do ask for samosa there. Thali is okayish but worth the money.

I ordered papdi chaat, it was a pool of watery yogurt with onions and chutney. Very disappointing. The samosa chat with chana was good

Food is nice, but the owner is irritating. He makes you feel like you are having free food. Very frustrated man.

Personal favorite for a few snacks! The only concern is that you needed to pay in cash for bills under 20$
