Good concept, but lacking in customer service, and the food was only moderate. Its fun to have a 400+degree piece of granite cooking your food in front of you, but a restaurant needs more than just that to great. While there appeared to be lots of staff for the number of people dining, we had very little interaction with them, and none seemed concerned with asking if we needed anything; even after we had cleared the food from our plates. The service we did receive was polite, but not overly helpful, which was a let-down given the uniqueness of the dining experience. Wed only been there one time prior, several years ago, and needed a refresher on how to deal with the literally smoking hot rocks in front of us. Also, the food quality was not where it needed to be for a $27 piece of Ahi, and a $29 steak. As for the atmosphere, its clearly an after work crowd, and the few that were there were roaming freely between multiple large tables. It was still private enough for a casual date, and the large TVs gave opportunity for conversation, but were not so plentiful as to be obtrusive.

First time dining here as well as writing a review as I have never had been this surprised (and unfortunately not in a good way).Interesting concept cooking meat on the rok, but service was completely disappointing for a Sunday evening at 8 pm. After being seated by the hostess I waited for around 5 minutes before the manager (I believe) came to take my order and had the HOSTESS get me a glass of water. It was quite sad that I saw 4 different waiters/waitresses working tables around me and a busboy cleaning tables but none had the decency to take 5 secs to ask if I would like to start with anything to drink. Needless to say I went the whole dinner without my water refilled since I didnt even get a dedicated waiter. Would give this 1.5 stars, half star for the manager who tried.

Went there for lunch today with workmates. I ordered the 8oz Rok chicken special. The waiter talked me into ordering the 10oz. I knew I had to cook it but man the chicken was really raw. The waiter said I had to cook it for 40-45 seconds. When I questioned him about that he said that I had to cut it into small pieces. So I did but in no way was it ready after 45 seconds. After cooking it for a few minutes I tried a small piece and it tasted hard and chewy. Pretty disgusting. Chicken does not taste like that. So I waited then tried another small piece. Same result. So I did not eat the rest. I asked for a to-go box. When my waiter finally came around I told him that I did not like the chicken. He failed to inquire why. I will not be bringing my family here for any meals.

Got the chicken on the "rok". My two sides were sweet potato fries and fruit. Everything on the menu is pretty pricey. Chicken was the least expensive protein on the rok, at $17. My friend got the hangar steak at $19 for 6 oz, which was very good. The chicken breast was well-seasoned, but dry. Sweet potato fries were yummy. Fruit was underwhelming, and gets warm since its on the same plate as the rok. My friend also had orzo pilaf as a side dish, and that was really yummy. The interior is nice, and they have a couple flat screen TVs and a bar. Overall we had a nice experience, and left feeling full and satisfied. I would definitely get the hangar steak if I ever came here again.

Great service!!! I give food here 3.5 stars. Its a fun and super busy experience. You are handed a 700 F Rok with a piece of meat or fish on it. Youll be busy eating or cooking/flipping the food in front of you. With that said, its certainly not cheap Be careful with taking kids to this place! The Rok is hot and you do not want anything to touch it, especially those tender hands of little kids. I saw several melted plastic knife handles... Tips: 1) Happy hour from 2-6PM! 2) Get a Groupon ($15 for $25) though it doesnt cover much of your bill, still better than nothing

I was not impressed. The food was bland (I got the bacon mac-n-cheese, but barely touched it because it was so bad) and the service was slow. One friends quesadilla was also bland, but the friend got the chicken sandwich liked it. It took them 15+ minutes just to bring us our drinks. The waitress even noticed that I had hardly touched my food and asked it it was alright, but did nothing after I told her it wasnt very good (in a nice way). No offer to send it back, or add more sauce, offer to get salt, anything. Not worth $20+ per person.

Rok has a really interesting concept, a heated piece of volcanic rock which allows you to cook your own entree at your table. The waiter did an okay job at explaining the concept, but told me to leave my fork on the Rok to prevent foodbourne illnesses through heat. The only problem was that my fork heated up and then almost burned me when I grabbed it. Overall Rok had really high quality ingredients, and a cool concept. Im not the biggest fan of the novelty "cook your own food", so make sure thats your type of restaurant.

Came in around 920pm, 40 minutes before close. They told us we had to order in 5 minutes because the kitchen closes then. The server acted like he didnt want to be there and was not personable at all. We ordered burgers and calamari. The calamari was good but the burgers were greasy and just average. Overall bill was $54 with tip for two burgers, calamari, a soda, and a beer. Subpar service, rude service, and average food. Find somewhere else.

I didnt care for this. We ordered steak and Ahi tuna. While the lava rock makes for an interesting ambiance, it really ends up over cooking the meat which winds up dry and disappointing. We were offered mushrooms and onions to add to our order, turns out those are an additional charge each, we werent informed of this beforehand. All in all it was a very disappointing experience and I have no desire to go back and try again.

As their name implies, their thing is to serve meat on an 700 degree lava rock that you then cook to your liking. A cool concept, but unless you like your meat extra well done then its really pointless to order your food this way--pointless being the key word when it comes to Rok. Youre better off at Black Angus 1 exit down 237 or for a much better experience, just head to Birks around the corner from Levis Stadium.

Went here for the first time about a week ago to surprise a friend for his birthday. We all had a fantastic time! While it may be just a little pricey, its a great place for special occasions because of how unique the Rok is that you get your meal served on. And on top of the great food, we had a fantastic server, Yama, who made it his mission to ensure we were happy from the moment we sat down.

We ordered a poke appetizer and the ingredients were quite disproportionate. They also gave a really big dollop of wasabi, quite unnecessary. We both ordered a New York Steak and setting it on the rock was fun, the chimichurri sauce didnt add much flavor. I wish they had given us extra salt. Possibly go back again, but not my first choice.
