Old school stop and eat (walk-up). Convenient and tasty but you arent doing yourself any favors if you ride the bus, BART, or any moving transport to get here and back on to your next destination. This place makes it pretty obvious the way its situated that youre supposed to WALK up and WALK on, that way you can have less shame about an unclear but clearly huge amount of calories you consumed, too fast, followed by a shake that by itself had to have more calories than any all-you-can-eat sushi meal youve enjoyed previously. Plus with the Whiz having really stood the test of time, they are counting on their customers to live long and prosper, and keep returning, just not from bypass surgery. Highly recommend if youre in the area and wondering where you can get a bite to eat that isnt overcrowded with a wait party crawling out the door. Its a neighborhood spot and asks nothing in return from its customers, who have been loyally served decade after decade.

I really liked Whiz Burger, it was great. We got 2 burger burgers with cheese, 1 seasoned fries (criss cut), onion rings, a soda, and a strawberry shake. The criss cut fries and onion rings were nothing to write home about. The burgers were delish. Great bun (perfect bun to meat/topping ration). Simple burger set up: mayo, lettuce, pickle, tomato, onion. Burger: 1/2 inch thick, well seasoned. The best way I can describe them is that they are similar to In-and-Out but better, and more homemade. The strawberry shake was also very good. Well be back :) They had a health score of 100, awesome!

Great food at decent prices. The steak with the sauce was a very delicious cut... and with fries, just $14. Cant beat that in San Francisco anymore! Doesnt hurt that the owner is our server, too. Would definitely come back for that steak, as well as the fish and chips my wife got. The batter was light and it wasnt this huge, honkin piece of battered fish. It was the right portion with some thyme and a hint of rosemary... somebody definitely put some love into that fish and chips recipe!

Seriously under-rated cheap, hole in the wall burger joint. - Better tasting and cheaper burgers than big fast food chains ($11 for a burger+shake) - Good quality ingredients not expected from a place like this. Chicken is always fresh and soft. Ice creams that go in shakes are Foster Farms! (I asked for the brand once because the mango shake I was sipping was just incredible)

Somehow this place has escaped the cruel hand of modern times. What a stroke of luck! A throw back to the classic burger stand. The burgers are top notch. I had a chocolate milkshake and it alone would be reason enough for 5 stars! Fries are great too. Im going back to try more on the menu! Im so glad that foodies havent been able to ruin this wonderful American food gem.

You people are nutz. The crew over at the Whiz are quiet, focused, and consistent. They are also busy as hell and have to deal with people attracted by the bright lights to the place. Its one of the few walk up counters left in the city. Abraham [the tall buff asian guy with the glasses] is my favorite. Really nice guy.

Solid burgers with fresh ingredients. I also got the chili cheese fries, which were more chili than fries, but not bad. Glad this place is in the mission, great when youre in the mood for an old-fashioned burger, and they have an extensive menu that Im curious to try.

I frequently hit this spot to get a shake while out in the mission. For me, its a relic of a time before the dot com boom, which makes me feel sort of nostalgic. Also, the posted health score is 100/100 which always confused me, based on the look of the place... :)

Greasy standalone fastfood place. Whiz Burger is great (burger w/ avacado and bacon added), fries are freshly cooked. Its a walk-up counter with limited outdoor seating (a few picnic tables). I highly recommend their ice cream cones.

Bad business !!!!!! so when you go eat here make sure you save your receipt!!!! The owner called to have my car towed by Eagels Towing and road service . Burger $8 towing $300 so I would have to say the burger was not worth it !

Great old school burger dining experience. Hasnt been updated since the 50s but the food is great if youre just looking for something to scarf down. Cheese is 80c extra but the burgers are cheap, so its not too big a deal.

My friend loves the wholesome banana shakes. I stop in for the hot dogs and fries. A bit removed from the Mission madness but still in the district, this is a nice spot to sit with friends on an SF bike ride.

We are absolutely obsessed with Whiz Burgers Drive-In. We usually order lettuce wrap burgers (grass fed beef) with bacon & cheese.. omg seriously delicious! You must try! The owner and team are very nice :)

Good hamburgers. Great for a quick bite. They could keep it cleaner. If you are a little fussy about smells and dirt you wont be able to eat there. My solution is to always ask to take away and eat at home.

Not great, but not terrible either. Like in between Burger King and In-N-Out? Best thing is that theres parking, so Lyft drivers can park hang out and get a bite and not worry about getting a ticket.

I got a burger with garlic frys. Nothing special. Its a regular burger like at any store. On AM PM gas station you may do a better one. I got some garlic frys steamed and not good. Very dissapointed

Very bad service , I was standing there and the guy was on his cellphone. Also I ask him if I can make some changes on my drink and with bad attitude he told no. So I had to buy two drinks.

Feels like a 50s burger and shake place that survived a nuclear apocalypse. Theres even a pay phone there. Honestly no clue what the deal is with this place, but its pretty cool.

This place offers a simple old-school burger thats slightly tastier than the megachains but not as fancy as Super Burger or Popsons. I love the old-school outdoor-seating ambiance.

Good classic burger, thick garlic fries with a touch of crunch on the outside and soft inside. My new fav burger joint.

Got myself a veggie burger, the patty was a bit dense but delicious. The fries were pretty good and hit the spot!

Its awfully great. Reminds me of the food at the motocross track concession stand I worked at in high school.
