Oh Hubert, we had such high expectations. To make a long story short, we arrived right before the dinner rush. It took about 15 minutes to get seated, which was the amount of time estimated, so + for the accurate time of seating. After we sat down, the experience as a whole went slowly down hill. To start, my coke was a bit flat and it took me a few minutes to wave down a waiter to switch to something else. It took me another few minutes to get his attention so that I could get a filled bottle of ketchup. It seems like the staff has laser eye line of sight and dont see anything except whats in front of them. It improved by the end of the night, but we were about finished by then - so negative points for that. The food was prepared well. I got the Hubert Burger and it was moist for a buffalo patty. Unfortunately the toppings werent applied with much care. The spinach was all to one side and the caramelized onions werent evenly distributed either. I had to open up the burger and center everything myself. Also, by the time I got the burger the bottom was already a bit soggy, so taking time to center everything didnt help with the already drenched bottom half. All-in-all, this felt more like a $10 burger and not a $23 burger. I guess the extra $10 pays for the experience/location/ambiance. Unfortunately only the location deserves anything higher than a neutral recommendation. We also ordered the sliders. They were OK. Nothing noteworthy either way. One potential positive note is that the milk shakes looked good. Im not a big milk shake person and my fiance doesnt handle them well - (TMI, I know) - so we didnt order any, but the presentation of their milk shake sampler looked quite delish

I just ate here today with my mom and wife and it was quite simply divine. Six floors off of the street gave a great view of Union Square. If you want to show off to your out-of-town family then this is a great place to go. I casually strolled them through the first five and-a-half (yeah, half) floors of shopping which wore them down a little bit so theyd want to eat wherever I might suggest and we ended up right in front of the Burger Bar. How convenient. We put our name in and they gave us the option of waiting there for the few minutes of our wait or they could take a phone number and theyd give us a call when our table was ready. We took the latter option and I couldnt be happier. It let us get a little bit more window shopping in before dining. We were sat as soon as we arrived after our alert that our table was ready. The Hostess noted to another waitress to bring us some waters (I had mentioned earlier how thirsty I was) and our waitress was over not a moment after the water had arrived. While the prices are a little higher than other restaurants in the area, its not too outrageous (so long as you stay away from the hand fed Kobe and the 1/3 oz of truffle). I had an angus beef burger with bleu cheese and bacon and it was delicious. Absolutely delicious. I would recommend it. They also have what looked like milkshakes taken from Paul Bunyons Ox (if Oxen make milkshakes). I wish I had one...maybe Ill go back now for one, Im getting hungry again... THere was an elevator to take us straight back to the Mezzanine level which was extraordinarily convenient after a very filling lunch.

Burger Bar is a burger restaurant from a gourmet chef (Hubert Keller) at gourmet prices (~$20 a burger) that serves painfully-mediocre food. On the list of well-known, superstar chefs, Hubert Keller has always been the one that I always scratch my head about -- I thought Fleur de Lys was all presentation with mediocre taste. But a burger joint shouldnt be too difficult for a renowned, experienced chef, right? Maybe for Keller it is. The Le "Frog" Burger, with brie cheese, shaved asparagus, sprouts, and garlic aioli, was just okay. The flavors werent very strong, so it didnt have anything special going for it. The thick meat patty wasnt cooked enough for a "medium," so it was just an unseasoned, mushy burger. Ive also had the Hubert Keller burger, which I had at a "medium," but was strangely too well-done, so it was just an unseasoned, dry burger. The one redeeming factor? Burger Bar has some pretty killer fries. Both the regular and sweet potato fries were delicious -- perfectly crispy. The view of Union Square is also a good reason to come up for a drink or two. As for the main star of the show, Burger Bars burgers just arent good enough for the outlandish prices. In fact, if you just walk a few blocks down, youll hit Pearls Burgers, which has burgers that are phenomenally better at 1/3 of the price. There are so many delicious burgers in SF that Burger Bar should only be considered if: (1) youre shopping at Macys and your lazy ass is too hungry and tired to leave the Macys building, or (2) you are a tourist who doesnt know any better.

DONT GO HERE!! We were in San Francisco for the weekend and stayed at a hotel which is within walking distance to Burger Bar. After a long day one Sunday evening, we decided to get carryout for dinner and take it back to the hotel. It was around 7:30pm when I got to Burger Bar to place my order for a burger cooked medium and they were not that busy. It took them about 40 minutes to make my burger. By the time I got back to our hotel room and sat down to eat, I noticed that the bottom bun was completely pink from all of the blood that came from the burger which was cooked rare, at best. Exhausted and I frustrated I called back to request a refund on my card for the burger that was thrown in the trash, by this time it was about 9:00pm. They offered to make me a new one if I went back, but given the time I declined as I did not want to eat that late. The Asst Manager informed me that all of their burgers are under cooked, so if you want it medium, you have to order it well done. Needless to say, the bartender never bothered to mention this when I placed my order. He also said that he couldnt refund my money that I had to speak with the Manager on Monday and he left a message. Long story short, I had to call the Manager as he didnt bother calling me and he gave me some BS line about having to call his IT regarding the refund. It was clear that he was blowing me off. I have not heard from him since, so I essentially wasted my time and TWENTY dollars on a grossly undercooked burger. I would NOT recommend supporting this establishment.

I just attempted to have lunch w/a friend & Burger Bar in SF. we walked in @1:30, ordered by 1:40 after it took waiter forever 2see us. We waited over 30 minutes for two Turkey sandwiches. We were given two Beef Sandwiches. The waiter quickly ran to the back, grabbed what I assumed was the manager. The manager then came to our table, notice the bill already on table, asked if we already had eaten. We then made sure to point out our food never came, we were on tight schedule & asked for bill earlier (but also noticed we were charged for wrong meals). The manager offered to make meal s(overlooking our time rush). The manager didnt offer to provide two complimentary meals on them for our next visit. Of course we will never be going to any Burger Bar again because of this very inconvenient service. Maybe Macys should evict Burger Bar in SF. Oh, &, I dont appreciate being forced to "Like" Burger Bar SF on Facebook just 2 post a truthful account of experience I just had 45 minutes ago!
