After hearing about it over and over again from some friends and insisting that it is a must try, we went down and had lunch there today. My hubby and I split one mango chicken burger and one Rave burger so we can both try them. The Rave burger was really spicy! the big slices of jalapeno were a bit overwhelming for me as I took a first really big bite unaware the spiciness level. The patty was good, but the crispy onions were a bit too thin you couldnt even taste them. As for the mango chicken, well it was a big disappointment. The chicken was dry and the over all taste was Meh... The bun on all the burgers were a bit burned, which is not acceptable in a restaurant. The curly spicy fries were good and the place is neat and clean.

the rave serves a very good hamburger. i enjoyed the big, thick, juicy, beefy flavored patty, and on a big bun with all the customary condiments piled high that made for a darn good-looking burger. the thick wedge potatoes were about the flavor and texture of well cooked potato and not like the thin, greasy, ordinary french fries. ive yet to find another burger of this quality in san mateo. Upon another visit I was completely disappointed, service was dull, slow, and apathetic. Somewhere the quality of food, especially the beef patty, had greatly diminished as it became a tasteless, dry mealy mash of some kind of beef product. Ill strike this joint off my list.

Luvs this Place, Fresh, Local, and very clean... The servers where great, and they had a Chicago album playing, great setting its small but totally a comfortable place to chill with friends and enjoy a great Burger & a Beer. I had ordered a build your own Kobe burger Medium Well and they totally did it up! (Feta & Lettuce Yum) My friend had the Citrus chicken and it was just as delicious as it sounds, Im not a huge Fan of Fries but hands down Awesome Sweet Potato & Regular we tried them both. I for sure would recommend that everyone goes to give it a try~

Love this place for the "gourmet" or "higher quality" style burger and beer. Owners are very nice. I like sitting at the small bar, where you can watch two TVs, usually showing sports. If Im the only one at the bar the owner will give me the controller and let me pick what I want. Ive had the Rave, Western, Macho, and California burgers. I like the grilled jalapenos on the Rave and Macho burger. The burger meat has good flavoring. The buns are soft. I either have the sweet potato fries or spicy curly fries. Always pleasant, always good.

They had good burgers. Twice I have gone lately and service is bad. First one the place is full and server is all over the place overwhelmed, a group next to had to take their food to go since they took a long time to get their food. Second time I go and I sit and wait and no service is provided. Forget about!! Rave off the list bad service!

I like the burgers here, theyre very decent. Its a lot about the experience - the ambiance, wine, and so on - though, and when I want a burger I tend to prefer more of a corner joint than neighborhood bistro. If you go for nice, youll probably like it though. And the location is wonderful, near downtown shopping and bars.

I go there a few times per month, good quality food (the Rave Burger is probably my favorite,) good onion rings. Eating at the restaurant can be a little slow if you go while its busy, and it might take a few minutes to get the check. I usually go in, and request it to go, food is still just as good.

Great burgers and salads. They often have specialty ground meats like lamb and buffalo for burgers, too. Good chicken sandwiches. I like the sliders (mini burgers) so I can choose a couple different types of burger at a reasonable price. Full service bar, too, and a sophisticated atmosphere.

We had the California burger and Four cheese burger. Thick patty and the buns are butter toasted - just how I like it. Onion rings are great. Service is good but I think theyre understaffed.

Burgers are decent here. The patties are really juice and a good portion. I liked the 2am burger which came with onion strings, bacon, and a fried egg. Its too bad their fries are only okay.

Staff and service were good, and the food was great. The Mega is way too big to finish, though, and skip the milkshake because it wasnt very good. There were no crabs in the crab cakes.

Came here soon after they opened and meant to get back sooner. Loved the onion strings. Back for the Macho Burger and a glass of Zinfandel. Not busy on a sat at 6:30.

Really good slider selection and I recommend you try the teriyaki-pineapple if you ever go here. The food comes fairly quick so if you can order sliders on the fly.

The burgers are Okay. Lots of variety on topping options, but the patty is pretty "meh". And there is no hint of crab in the crabcake slider that I could detect.
