After looking up Roots online, I was convinced that it was the right kind of place to eat (organic and local food with a California flair). When we sat down to eat one friend asked the waitress about the chicken confit and the waitress said she "wouldnt sell it" and that the chef told her she had to, but she thought it was bad. When another friend arrived late, she pushed her into getting her 2nd choice since "it would take too long" to cook the 1st choice. The final act was that the bartender at the nearby bar dropped a wine glass and chipped it. He was surprised it didnt break and threw it very hard into the side of the plastic rubbish bin and it broke on the floor behind the bar where it remained for the night. The food was average, but definitely not worth it for the unprofessional atmosphere.

The chef does a great job. The place is inside of hotel & sometimes very empty. Try leg of lamb, Beef Bourginion, specials... Love it!
