Plow was pretty good, but was it an hour wait long good? Ehhh, lets just say Im not in a hurry to come back. And an hour is on the SHORTER end of the wait time frame! Decided to make a trip here for brunch on "Spring Forward" DST day, hoping people were thrown off by the hour that disappeared from the day. Was intending to get there by 9:45am but lagged myself until 10:30a (oops, darn DST lol). I was almost dropped off to get our names on the list but I rushed out my house blind (without contacts on) so we had to go find parking first (again, oops lol). Good thing parking was easy to find! We got a spot right around the corner and then the hour wait commenced... We were seated at the bar, which I love because of the open kitchen, and this is how I learned that: [+] pork sausages are uncooked, hand-formed and cooked only when ordered [+/-] chicken-apple sausages are cooked a bit and "reheated"/"recooked" [-] bacon is cooked beforehand, sits in an open metal pan, and simply "reheated" on the flat top griddle (albeit it is most efficient this way, considering how busy it is here) [+] everything else is cooked only when ordered [+] the cooks have a very organized system so, props to those guys! THE PLOW ($16) [+/-] Lemon ricotta pancakes (2 small) were very good in some bites (depending on where the ricotta is), but it was a bit dry overall and had a very faint lemon flavor. I usually dont use syrup with my pancakes but for this, I had to dip a bit to add some sweetness to it. [+] Potatoes were on point. I love the crispy, herby tastes and it was not overly salty either. [+] Chicken-apple sausages (4 links) were very enjoyable and did not taste overcooked from the "recooking" [+/-] Eggs are made to your liking CORNED BEEF HASH ($15) [-] Yes, it comes with potatoes but it is NOT their signature crispy, herby goodness! Youve been warned. [+] Corned beef was corned beef. Good and thinly-sliced. [+/-] Comes with 2 slices of lightly-toasted rustic loaf [+/-] Eggs are made to your liking SERVICE [-] Took a while to get our waters after we were seated [-] Waitress/server totally forgot I asked for a box, even after giving us our check [+/-] Was never asked how we were doing, but maybe because we were at the bar? We finished our meal around 12:30pm and there was STILL a long wait. I dont know how people wait so long for this place! Its good but Im not blown away. If Im going to wake up early and wait at least an hour for food, I expect nothing less than awesome. Until next time, Plow. And maybe on a weekday morning for a shorter wait time.

Food was delicious, however, although I understand that they need to keep all 39 seats filled at all times, I was treated like second class trying to get seating for one. I arrived ten minutes after they opened this morning and was given an estimated 30-40 minute wait time. No problem. I had anticipated this wait. After 50 minutes I noticed that the first wave of five individuals seated at the counter were finishing up and leaving. I checked where my name was on the list, next, and assumed that I would be seated at one of the five stools at the counter. The hostess then seated a party of two and three at the counter. At the one hour mark since my arrival, I asked again. The hostess informed me, and I quote, "I just seated the people at the counter and you will need to wait until they finish." When I very quietly and politely pointed out that it had now been an hour wait and that she was seating parties that signed in after me, she abruptly informed me that my choices were to "wait until the newly seated people finished dining or I could dine outside." Mind you that it was so cold this morning that no one was seated outside. I was eventually seated at a table when I declined eating outside and waiting an additional hour. Furthermore, no one in our section was offered refills on the coffee. Guess you have to ask. Anyways, everyone works hard during the week and likes to be treated with respect. Good food, bad experience. Plenty of good food in SF with kind and fair treatment, so I probably wont be back.

Good? Yeah sure. Worth the weekend wait? Unfortunately not. I was super excited to finally come to plow, I plowed myself out of bed at 7am just to make it to plow by 7:55am right before opening. At that point, there was already a long line! Omg, crazy! (It must be amazing for everyone to be lining up like they line up for new iphone releases). We didnt make it to the first seating, so ended up going to a near by coffee shop to wait for 30min, came back and there was an available table for us. Woohoo. The staff, though super busy was attentive and very friendly. We ordered a coconut mochi cake, The Plow, breakfast sandwich and French toast. My favorite was probably the mochi cake and everything else was pretty good but nothing mind blowing. The French toast and breakfast sandwich were both decent but the way its made feels like you can do it yourself at home. The plow had lemon ricotta pancakes which were probably the highlight of that dish. Coffee was subpar :(, id just get coffee next door. Overall, good experience and if there werent a line, Id definitely go more often since it is that comfort brunch food that youd want on a Sunday morning. Ive heard from others that their weekday lunch menu is better and dishes are more special, maybe thats what Im missing from this review. Ill have to try it again on a weekday.

Im glad I finally made it to Plow after hearing great things about it for quite some time now. Especially since its in my own neighborhood, the charming Potrero Hill, which I have fallen in love with after moving here a year ago (which is a blog-worthy entry on its own). Sadly, I did not walk there given the tremendous surrounding hills, but after the decadent brunch, wish I did, to ease the guilt of having ingested a mere 5000 calories (im sure!) in one sitting. *sigh* but some things in life are worth it! The Plow platter is the dream come true for a greedy person with an indecisive mind and a huge appetite. Never again would one have to choose between savory and sweet- the platter comes with generous samplings of eggs, crispy fried potatoes which were amazing, choice of bacon or 2 types of sausages, and a small stack of lemon ricotta pancakes. Its as though the chef knew the dilemma I have every time I stare at a brunch menu and want to order 3 different entrees to satiate all cravings, only to be forced to settle for one and a side of this or that. So, for those with this same first world problem as mine, there is finally a solution! Now if only the rest of the brunch places would just catch on...

I have been meaning to try this place for years, just never had the right opportunity. Well, that time finding ally came, and it was oh so worth it. As expected, when we first arrived we had to wait for a table. What worked out well, though, is that we arrived shortly before 2, which I believe is when they "stop" their brunch service, which I believe really means is when they will stop taking down names. Once we were seated, I was really pleased with the menu and variety of options. It was a pretty nice selection of did, both sweet, savory, and even some healthy options, too. I landed on a scrambled egg dish, while my friends got an order of the yogurt and granola, and the breakfast combo (eggs, sausage, pancake). Every dish was great. The highlight for me were the INCREDIBLE potatoes which were cooked to a perfect crunch, and had so much flavor. I also had a bite of the lemon ricotta pancakes, and those were fantastic. They were quite rich, though, so I dont know if I write be able to do an entire order of them.
