This place is super tempting. The staff is very kind. And its clean. So why did I dislike it? The food is not so good but is very expensive. In the latest installment, I got a veggie burger known as the "veggie breakfast sandwich."Staff asked "Want me to heat this up," so I said yes. Who eats cold veggie burgers? The heating up resulted in turning the english muffin this sandwich was served on into basically a hockey puck. And it turned the sandwich contents, including bean and tofu breakfast sausage, free-range eggs, spinach and lemon aioli -- there was not NY Cheddar as advertised on the label -- into a starchy mush. Yup. It was microwaved as one piece like in a fast food joint. Expected much more for about an $8 breakfast sandwich. Last time I got a salad here that contained ingredients not listed on the box and that I am allergic to… Cmon! Rookies. Will not be going back here except for the $2 fair trade, organic coffee or tea.

While on the pricey side, Proper Food lives up to it’s name. A varied selection of fresh salads, sandwiches, soups, juices and more to keep you nourished through the workday. My go-to pick here is the nicoise salad. This FiDi joint is more like a grocery store, as there is a counter to pay and no dedicated space to sit. I recommend Proper Food when you are looking for something quick and healthy during a solo lunch break.

My boyfriend told me that he wanted an "old man cocktail and old school food" for dinner, so we went to North Beach Restaurant. I had heard good things about this place for years, but had never eaten here before. This place is definitely old school, the kind of place where the waitstaff has been there for decades (my father worked as a professional waiter when I was a kid, so places like this are really special to me.)

Ate there for lunch while I was in SFO visiting. The food was sooo good (essentially anything with chickpeas was to die for). The vegan cookie was a pleasant surprise how good it was. There is a nice sitting area with young shade trees to eat and watch everyone walk by.

I really liked their roast salmon sandwich. Their salads are pretty expensive but I find the sandwich more reasonably prices!
