This place is simply amazing and all one needs to do is dine here once to see for themselves firsthand! I highly recommend this place. 10 stars if I could! If you live in The City, (or even outside of it) take the time out to visit Huli Huli...its well worth it, believe me. I tried Huli Huli for the first time yesterday when my friends wife recommended them to me and it was an amazing meal! (I even went back for breakfast this morning) First of all, the staff are super friendly and genuinely warm and this comes through in the food that they prepare and serve. They put their heart and soul into it and it shows! All of the ingredients are fresh and of high quality, and they even source their garden in the backyard for many of the vegetables and herbs that they use in their dishes. This is apparent when you taste their food...FRESH and well balanced! Perfectly seasoned. Love this place!!! The portions are ridiculously generous and you will not leave here feeling hungry. I had the beef teriyaki yesterday and it came with some perfectly cooked rice and a very scrumptious and hearty scoop of macaroni salad. The teriyaki beef is very lean, tender, cooked and seasoned to perfection. A high quality and delicious meal for around $8.45? Are you kidding me??? Unheard of in San Francisco. If this place were in The Marina District, Noe Valley or The Mission District they could charge double what they currently charge and STILL have lines out the door, its that good. And this morning I had the Portuguese sausage burrito and it was equally as good. ($5.25) Our community was so in need of a restaurant like this and Huli Huli has definitely come through in a big way. Its a little out of the way to get to but it is so very worth the effort. I will definitely be frequenting Huli Huli in the future, as well as recommending them to everyone. Thank you Francis, Lisa, Shawn, Kevin, Marcus, Doug and everyone else who has had a hand in getting these restaurant doors open! You are an amazing group!

Ive been living and working in the Bayview district of SF for a going on a year now, and I really appreciate that I can get order healthy meals here at this restaurant, which is a breath of fresh air for this neighborhood. Im especially fond their chicken salad with homemade dressing, the Hula plate with brown rice and a side salad, and their Hawaiian burrito. I mean, where else are you going to find a Hawaiian burrito? The pricing is pretty good too. I like sitting outside in their garden, which isnt the type of space you can normally find here in the busy streets of SF, and since I come from the Midwest, I value this little garden very much. Oh, and the fish tank is awesome - it even has an eel! I expect to be eating at Huli Huli on a weekly basis for as long as Im in SF, especially considering that they are a ministry based non-profit that helps men turn their lives around. This is a beautiful display of what a restaurant really can be.

This place is unbelievable, AGAIN. Tried them again, thought it was just the cranky guy. Nope, it comes from the manager Marcus. Used to go here 2-3 times a week, used to. So, all I want to do is substitute the vegetables for rice, simple huh?? Nope, first the employee told me I cant, and this time I asked to speak with the manager Marcus. He confirmed they dont sub starch for vegetables?? Really. I am sure the vegetables I dont want cost more than the tiny scoop of rice, guaranteed. And not to mention I am the customer right?? Its not like I am asking to sub the vegetables for some chicken, just some cheap rice. So Marcus told me to take my business elsewhere and I did, forever. Cant believe in this day with so much competition they would do something like this. I guess they have so much business they dont need mine. I was trying to support these guys but cant with attitudes like this.

All was good there until today. Hopefully the guy was just having a bad day. I visit this place 2-3 times a week. I always get a BBQ chicken plate. Dont like vegetables, always substitute a scoop of rice for the veggies. No big deal right?? The guy told me they dont do that EVER and when I told him I substitute this way weekly, he accused me of lying (I am not kidding) and kept saying no you dont when I told him yes I did do the substitution. This went on 5 times. So after this discussion, he finally did it. It was like pulling teeth with this guy. I am sure the scoop of rice is cheaper than the veggies, so I am doing them a favor right?? All for a scoop of rice...GEEZ. This guy doesnt need to be at the counter, maybe cleaning toilets or something else.

I ate here when I was visiting San Francisco with my family. Kids loved the dish especially chicken and macaroni salad. Amount that they gave us for the money we paid, it was a lot! I loved it! I got to see many staffs there. They were very kind. We also ordered Hawaiian shaved ice and enjoyed with snow cap and ice cream scoop in it :) I dont know why some people might complain about vegetables and substituting with rice.. Maybe employees has to follow the rule that the owners has set? Please be more understanding toward them. Just like anybody else, they might have bad days sometime you know? Lets love one another.

The service was sweet and friendly - but my god the food was horrible. Its served in transparent plastic clamshells (what? no dishes? REALLLY?) The waste was stunning. The food in the clamshell gave off a strange and very off-putting odor that made eating it a risky proposition. We both charged forward (perhaps foolishly - time will tell)... but sadly will never return.

They definitely follow the L&L menu formula, but thats not a bad thing. Great food, generous portions with reasonable prices, the knowledge that youre supporting a cause. Whats not to like? I do wish they had Hawaiian Sun drinks instead of Kerns, but thats a minor complaint. Parking not terrible, easy access from freeway, friendly staff. Definitely worth a detour or a drive.

Fantastic food, warm environment, great vision...overall GREAT value. Very reasonable prices with unreasonably large portions. Mixed BBQ was fabulous, chicken beef, and short ribs were all very tasty and well cooked. The highlights for me were definitely the mac salad and kimchi fried rice ($1 substitute). Changing lives and peoples tastes, what could be better?

Ate here last week for the first time and it was smackin bruh lol. The decor is really nice, open modern and comforting. The have a beautiful garden and patio also where they grow there own veggies. Ive had Hawaiian food before but not of this quality I am really impressed and its a nice change of pace from all the usual restaurants in the city.

I love this place!! Yes, I know I work here, but our food is super ono (delicious in Hawaiian). Try our loco moco (one of our signature dishes) or a breakfast burrito (there are tater tots in it!). Prices are super reasonable and portion sizes are huge. Cmon!!
