The hotel staff of the Intercontinental recommended we try Oola since it was open late. What a mistake...when we walked in the place smelled like bleach and cleaning solution and the smell never left. Next we ordered drinks. A martini with blue cheese olives. The server looked at me like I had invented something stupid. Said they did not have them. I said "ok I will take regular" and he said well maybe we could stuff them but I knew it would be a mistake so I just said "not necessary." When the drink showed up it was in one of the smallest martini glasses I have ever seen. Like something you would get at an all you could drink New Years Party at a cheap airport hotel. AND it was half full and the blue cheese olives showed up strangely . Next came dinner order. Asked for a large veggie plate of assorted items that were on the menu like Brussels Sprout (OUT), roasted cauliflower (OUT)...well what do you have? Let me find out...we have mushrooms, chickory, radishes, and broc rabe...fine bring it. Plate shows up with fennel added and just not a fan of it, and the food was charred to a taste similar to briquet you would find in a bbq grill. Add the fact that we waited and waited for this and other items that were very lackluster, had two drinks completely forgotten about while we watched our server chat with other employees and you have a terrible restaurant that needs improvement on not only the facility (beat up), but the kitchen and service as well. Would not recommend at all and would not return.

We want here last night for date night. It was my first time at Oola. First, the atmosphere is very comfortable and contemporary. We sat in a high-backed booth near the bar. Our waiter was my absolute favorite, and he definitely set the tone for the dining experience. He was very playful and friendly (I cant remember his name now...) Starters: Beet salad with Watermelon, Arugula salad with peaches and burratta cheese with heirloom tomatoes. Outstanding!!! We ended up with an order more than we had planned on, but ended up eating it all! (And they never put the 3rd app on the bill) Mains: Papardelle Bolognese and a Roasted Salmon. Honestly I can say this was the best Salmon dish I have ever had in my whole life. Crispy on the outside, warm and flaky on the inside, with the perfect amount of seasoning. The mashed potatoes were perfectly fluffy with the correct balance of cream and butter- I am very picky about my mashed potatoes. Best I have had. period. And the Sauce that is drizzled over the dish is light and perfect, and pools up in the halved tomatoes for a yummy bonus. Side: Roasted Cauliflower. Just order it. Dessert: Waiters recommendation- Bread pudding. It ended up to me tasting halfway between a bread pudding and a short cake, and was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth, make-your-jaw-ache delicious. Overall, some of the best selected and freshest ingredients I have seen on my plate, in portions that arent too big or too small. Oola,, you have a new fan for life. Thank you.

The first time I made a reservation online, it said no available tables, I get a text message 30 minutes prior to the time I wanted and asked if I still wanted the table. Umm, I was on the other side of town at 5pm, no I dont want the table. Made new reservations weeks later. Walked in, told the hostess we had reservations, she didnt even check our name. Ok, thats weird. We got seated right by the door which was fine. Someone came and took our drink orders. The blood orange margarita was a nice start. I got the cauliflower soup, it was ok, needed more salt. It was super hot and thick and there was croutons in it. My daughter got the beets and persimmon salad pistachio which she really liked. To the entrees, I got the ribs as a meal with 6 pieces of ribs. Boy were they salty, all I could taste is soy sauce, nothing else. The description was soy glazed, so I didnt think they marinated (soaked) it in soy sauce. They were fall off the bone but the meat was also dry. Ate one and was pretty much done. My youngest got the chicken breast. The broccoli rabe was super bitter, I couldnt even eat it. My oldest got salmon and she did not like the sauce it came with. The mushrooms in the dish was delicious. We got a side of mac and cheese and a order of fries. The fries were good. I noticed most people who came here order the burgers. Maybe thats what they do best. Service here is kind of slow, it took a while to flag someone for the bill.

Im usually really grateful for sexual favors, but somehow during my 2 hour dinner there the waitress must have given me a quick lap dance to account for the $40 discrepancy on my credit card statement (Thank god for Amex fraud protection to resolve the issue). As inclined as I am to let that experience motivate me to give this place a hearty one star, I have to give credit where its due to the folks in the kitchen. We went there for a birthday dinner party of 10 and was accommodated in a charming nook upstairs. The drink list had a variety and the bartender made my Long Island 5 parts alcohol just the way I like it. If there are any two items on the menu to get its the Baby Back Ribs and the Fried Potatoes with parmesan and truffle oil aka julienne french fries. The Baby Back Ribs were sooo tender. I had also ordered the Seared Spiced Ahi Tuna as a starter but was mildly impressed. Likewise for the Salmon Roulade w/ leeks and goat cheese in a saffron vinaigrette. If I could do it again, I probably would have gotten a full oder of the Baby Back Ribs. This is the perfect place for a birthday dinner, just remember to pay cash! Also if youre coming in around the dinner rush hour, you might wait ~15 minutes after your actual reservation time due to limited seating.

Got a Groupon ($25 for $50). Super easy to redeem! Solid 3.5 Experience and food was a 4 but the prices bring it down to a 3.5 It was a really nice, sophisticated space and I just might just return for HH!! On the site, it says happy hour is: Monday thru Thursday 5-7 Friday 4-7 .. I went on a Sunday and I think they had it on Sunday as well but dont quote me on that. Apparently they have a late night HH (after 10) so I might drop by if Im ever downtown that late :) Food was slightly on the pricey side and but it was all great (but nothing Id return specifically for) - would only come back for HH. We got the: Pan roasted salmon, $25 - YUM! Slightly pricey but really good salmon and perfectly cooked which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Cauliflower (side), $7 - cauliflower cooked w/ butta. cant go wrong! Brussel sprouts (side), $7 - meh.. I make better brussel sprouts.. Mac & cheese (side), $8 - MEH. not very flavorful. skip. Brioche bread pudding (dessert), $9 - derishhhhh. came with perfectly caramelized banana like it said (hate when people say caramelized and then it comes out mushy.. but this was crispy like creme brulee!) and strawberry sorbet.. everything complemented each other and it was a nice ending to our dinner
