I was so jazzed to get to this restaurant because everyone said how wonderful it was. I think they fooled themselves into believing that just because it was difficult to find it was worth the effort. Not only is the restaurant next to impossible to find, even when directed by the merchants across the street (I was literally standing in front of the place and didnt recognize it as Gialinas), but the pizza and other offerings were really only so-so. I love thin crust pizza, but this really was a cracker - dry and flavorless. I felt that the prices were too high, so only ordered the Margharita. It was small and drab. My partner ordered the cheese platter salad. They provided only one bite of each flavor on the dish and forgot one of the ingredients mentioned on the menu. When I pointed it out, they bent over backwards to give it to me at the end, but by then it was too late. When time came to try their "famous" dessert pizza - no one offered it or any other dessert. We saw the pizza on another table and determined it was really just their same sickly pizza dough with nutella and whipped cream, so didnt feel lacking in any way. Instead, we crossed the street to the market for a tasty Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwich from their freezer aisle. Sadly, I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone: way too overpriced for what you get and only so-so on the flavor points.

My kids got the cheese Margherita pizza, and fought over the last piece. This was also one of the few dinners that I didnt have to tell them to hurry up. I got the Broccoli Rabe w/ sausage & provolone which was wonderful (and I had to stop myself from polishing off the entire pizza). Only downside is that the toppings are very limited, we tried adding chicken to the Margheria pizza, but no go. We arrived on a Friday night before 6:00, which was great, there were only a few tables occupied, but 10 minutes later, all the tables were full. Not only that, there was a stream of take-out being picked up the entire time we were there. One thing for sure, well be back, since were only a few minutes away. The pizza was really good and the wait staff was nice and didnt constantly bug you, but came by at the right time. The noise level was a bit high and it was difficult to hear at times, but still the light atmosphere was great. Funny thing is, we saw several friends there that night.

My wifes manager recommended this place. We went in on a saturday evening at around 9 PM and were able to get a table easily without any waiting. We ordered Burrata with chili oil, olives & flatbread and Atomica pizza pie that has tomato, mushrooms, chilies, red onions & mozzarella. The flatbread with burrata wasnt that great, it was a bit chewy though the burrata had a really good chili oil and olives had seeds. The pizza was good though the crust on the edges was a bit too dry and felt a bit raw. The table are too close to each other so not a place where you can go on a date night. Also, parking on the street isnt that easy and I didnt see any parking garage closeby. Tip: You do *not* get free refills on the drinks so make sure you dont gulp all the soda before your entree is served or else be ready to pay more. Overall, this place is just ok.

Do not order the Margherita pizza if you are expecting a traditional pie. After getting the pizza home, I spent close to three minutes trying to determine if the pizza had cheese on it or not. Eating the pizza, I neither tasted nor felt the texture of cheese. I called to ask if perhaps the recipe called for no cheese, or if somehow the cheese was forgotten. I was informed that the order must be placed as "old style" or "kids style" if I wanted the traditional amount of cheese. "Margherita" is the only description of the pie on the menu. I will change this review to 4-5 stars if the owners expand the description to include the difference between their version and "Old Style." Looking at the other negative reviews, it seems that the Margherita pizza is the weakest part of the menu.

Wow this place is fantastic! Id admit that Im not a huge fan of pizza (I know right), but this place was GOOD. I came here with a friend on a week night for a late dinner. We ordered the Portobello Mushroom pizza (pie) to share and it was so delicious! I absolutely loved the crust. It was crispy, crunchy, whatever way you want to describe it. The pizza itself was thin, which I like. The toppings worked really well together along with the farm egg we had added on. I dont always eat pizza, but when I do, they make me wonder why Im not a pizza person. Overall, I highly recommend this place! Its a cute, small, but cozy restaurant. It offers a great variety of small tapas, pizza, dessert, and alcohol. Price is fair and staff are great! Come and get your pizza craving fulfilled!

Recommended by friends to try Gialina, we decided to head out to Glenn Park. There was a wait (around 20 minutes on a Monday). Looks to be the most popular place in the area. We decided to order the Atomica pizza which has onions, mushrooms, tomato sauce and cheese. It was pretty good. The crust was cooked well and the sauce was a good flavor. I think I might still prefer Delfina, however I will try Gialinas Margherita next time to compare. We also got a salad. My opinion, one pizza and salad is enough for two people. Also they have Bi-Rite ice cream as a dessert option. We got mint chocolate chip which is always a good choice. Will definitely come back.

Well I went back again 6+ years later, and not much has changed. The Margherita sauce was still disappointing, although not as gummy as before, the cheese was melted this time, but the crust was still hard and crunchy. And the place is VERY expensive. The small scoop of cavatelli pasta was $16, it was a kids portion at best, and the tiny glass of cheap wine was $12. I dont mean to single out Gialina, most restaurants are going this way--small pours of wine for outrageous sums of money. A glass like we got should be $6, its CHEAP wine, but margin creep has restaurants taking advantage where they know people will spend money: on booze.

The best pizza in the city. (Im serious. Even better than A16 or Delfina.) The crust is phenomenal ... thin, crispy, flavorful. In addition to the standards, the menu always has interesting options. The ingredients are always fresh and unique. Great vegetarian options for those who do not eat meat. The pizzas are great, but definitely try at least one of the tasty and original appetizers they offer. The restaurant is small and bustling ... not the place to go for a quiet dinner out, but the perfect place to go for good food, energetic conversation with your friends, and a pretty decent wine selection!

We had marinated artichokes, atomica pizza and chocolate pistachio cake. All dishes were very good. I liked how well the artichokes were marinated and how the butter beans in the dish were well cooked. The pizza itself was very nice - spicy, and a great combination of onions, tomatoes and chillies. The crust is ok - lot of great chew on the edge, but soggy/non-existent in the center. But nonetheless, the topping combinations makes this pizza very nice. The cake was also very nice to taste - the texture was very crumbly, but not dry and the vanilla ice cream was gourmet quality.
