Ikes Place has just been dethroned. The Boca sandwich is the prime example of what sandwiches should be: a generous portion of delicious corned beef pastrami and brisket, held together by warm, aromatic French bread and an addicting Board Sauce (much like the Dirty Sauce at Ikes). Each bite packs a wallop of flavor that renders you speechless for a minute or two. Add in some spicy peppers or the habanero hot sauce, and youll have yourself one of the best sandwiches that SF has to offer. The BG is also incredible -- filled with their tender brisket, cheddar cheese, spicy peppers, and the Board Sauce. Due to the peppers, this one definitely brings some heat, and the flavors mesh together perfectly. Get this if youre not as much of a corned beef fan, and youd like to stick to traditional brisket. Yes, the sandwiches are a bit pricey at around $11 each, but the quality of the ingredients, the size of the sandwiches, and the explosive power of the flavors make it one hell of a deal. Think of Deli Board like a mature adult version of Ikes Place. Ikes is colorful and fun -- delicious flavors, but the ingredients are just good enough to get by. Deli Board adds in freshness and quality to the mix, while still being incredibly delicious. When all is said and done, Deli Board is just plainly far superior.

My coworker was going to get a sandwich from here and asked if I wanted to tag along. How can I say no to a sandwich? (Cue in appropriate Joey Tribbiani GIF). They have a lot of sandwiches to choose from, or you can customize your own. I wasnt feeling particularly creative, so I went for the Fatty Matty because tuna salad, falafel, and hummus sounded good. It was love at first bite! I would never thought that tuna salad, falafel, and hummus would be good together. Oh, but they do! And I added some of their stadium mustard for a little kick. And the French roll was the perfect type of bread for the soft texture of this sandwich. I really like the vibe of the restaurant, especially the music they play on vinyl. And the employees are enthusiastic and really friendly. When my coworker and I came in, she was surprised there was no line. But after we ordered, a huge line formed behind us. I like to think we brought them in ;) But Im pretty sure their delicious sandwiches is what really drew them in. Im definitely coming back to try more off their sandwich board.

This place bills itself as a Midwestern style deli, and I cant speak to the authenticity of that, having successfully avoided any prolonged periods of stay in the Midwest. I can, however, vouch for the fact that their sandwiches truly stand apart from other delis and sandwich spots here in the city. Even compared to places I love, like Ikess, this place has a unique flavor from the bread and meats, to the coleslaw fillings. And yes, the sandwiches are well proportioned. I read a couple of reviews that mention that the sandwiches can be eaten for two meals but if you have a hearty appetite such as my own (Im big boned), one sandwich is just about right. I recommend the Samantha, which is essentially a Philly cheesesteak. The Boca also appears to be a staple there. Lastly, the reason I cant give it five stars, is the price. Everything is just couple dollars more than it should be. That being said of course, I will be back because Im a dumb San Franciscan.

I never thought Id enjoy a $16 sandwich but here I am. These sandwiches are loaded with meat and its hard to choose a sandwich from their menu because their all so damn loaded and sounds delicious. I had the Boca:brisket, romanian pastrami, corned beef, muenster cheese, pickles, Board sauce, brown mustard, french roll purely because its the first item on the list and my rule is the first item means the stores signature! Anyway the sandwich is delicious of course for $16 + tax, I mean it pretty much has to be to justify the price. If you dont care too much about cost then come by for sure to try. I would love to now try Katz in NY and see if there can be a comparison. Tips: Go earlier during weekdays to beat the lunch crowd, not that much seating available inside

Yes it took them 10 minutes to make my $12 sandwich, but as a sandwich monster, I think this place ROCKS! They have such inventive combinations that my head swims every time I stop in. Last time I stopped in I got the Emeline (falafel, hummus, grilled onion, lettuce, muenster cheese, cherry peppers, sprouts, pickles, Board sauce on a french roll) which is SO unlike me because I am a total carnivore.. and it was so unique and delicious! I will say that I will probably continue to leave falafel to the experts. I totally enjoyed it but will probably go for the Zeke next time (turkey + cream cheese = love). Totally wish this place was closer to home but am secretly glad its not because Deli Board is a carb situation that I would not be able to resist.

How about OMG as a description. You see Im originally from NYC area and a pastrami sandwich in Midtown Manhattan, made from dripping hot, just out of the oven pastrami, cut thin, lean and dripping is an experience not found in my beloved San Fran... that is until I walked into to this nondescript, kind-of hole-in-the-wall place, right on of Folsom. I entered its austere but immaculately clean eatery, ordered a sandwich that came packed with paper thin slices corned beef and pastrami that... well did you see that episode of the Clevaland show when Cleveland eats this sandwich whose consumption effects him like a hit of acid? It was like that. If you want big, meaty, right out of the oven artery clogging, deliciousness - the Deli Board is it!

When i was looking at restaurant options for my upcoming trip to SF, this place popped up on several sites, with grand praise. Seeing on their website a couple bottles of Cleveland stadium mustard (something I grew up on). I dug into more info which led me to know that the owner is from my hometown of Cleveland. My brother and I met him and chatted about our home while ordering up some great sandwiches. The pastrami is a must, and if you like bic macs, they have a bomb roast beef vsrsion. They also make homemade hot sauces. The french rolls wrap around your ingredients holding them in perfect sandwich form. Spinning live records for lunch...

Im going to be honest and say that traditionally a Rueben is not my top pick in a delicious sandwich. However, if I were to pit this Ruben against all other sandwiches Ive ever eaten in my life (sans the peanut butter and banana sandwich of which I am incapable of ever saying no too), this Rueben would win out every time on any given Sunday. Perfect pairing: the homemade pickles! I recommend picking it up and walking down the street to the city beer store where they have great tables and beer (Im pretty sure they dont mind the carry ins. WARNING, like all infamous sandwich places, they close early.

There is a reason all of the hipsters line up to eat here... The food is amazing and the meat is perfectly sliced to the point that it melts in your mouth as you eat it. I have had the Boca here (half pastrami half corned beef sandwich) and for the Zeke which is the turkey, bacon, sprouts sandwich. I honestly cant really choose between the two because they are so amazing, but I guess the healthier alternative is the Zeke. Also I have bitten off a piece of my friends sandwiches and they are all tasty, but nothing beats the Boca and Zeke. By far my favorite deli in the San Francisco area.
