Ajisen is a quick-service joint that specializes in ramen of traditional to not so traditional. Workers are well-balanced young crew of kids thatll get you settled down within seconds of arrival. Menu is quickly dropped off while food and beverages comes swiftly. Depending on day and time you come there can be a wait time with sign-in list. Best to come off peak times. Today was a bit of a chilly overcast day and ramen was fits the bill. Got a bowl of scallop ramen just to try as I never had this version before. Noodles were perfect not mushy and broth came hot and delicious. Two pieces of scallop were squishy and flavorful not too chewy. My oversized soup spoon gave me even spoonful of toppings and broth each time I lower it in. In the end I had to drink the rest out of the bowl as spoon couldnt do it no more. Its worth trying Ajisen even though its fast food.

I came here twice in one week since its near my work and I caught a cold (summer colds - boooo!) so I figured hot, spicy soup would help. Ajisen Ramen is a gem for food court food. Convenient location in Westfield Mall, so easy to get to on foot or by BART/MUNI. Every time Ive come here, there was a line to dine in. It went by fast-ish after putting my name down (less than 20 min wait), but if you want faster service then perhaps consider getting take-out and sitting somewhere else, or come during off hours. Since its located to a bunch of offices, weekday lunches gets really busy, expectedly. Its a little strange sitting at one of the tables near the entrance since a bunch of people are hanging around nearby watching (lol), but fine otherwise. Staff is friendly and service is pretty quick once youve put your order in.

Nomnomnomnom. Ramen all spiffied up?! Let me at it! You think ramen is only what comes in those cups or little plastic bags for 10 cents while being a poor starving college kid? You havent had real ramen yet. This place is a great start to ushering you into the wonderful world of noodles. You get a large selection of various assortment of meat, toppings, and soup base. It is oodles of noodle fun and you cant go wrong with giving this place a shot unless you hate food. The service is quick and friendly. Located in the heart of the food court at Westfield Mall you will be back to shopping in no time. You may have to opt for an additional dress or pant size though. Slurp away my friends, slurp away.

Pretty good for a ramen chain thats located inside a mall. I ordered the corn and BBQ pork ramen. The noodles were the best part of the meal. Not your typical ramen noodles, but these were firm yet chewy. The broth was really bland in my opinion. I love their garnishes especially the wood ear fungus; however, I thought it was a bit strange that they put cabbage in the ramen. I recommend getting the cabbage on the side so you can choose how much you want to add into the noodles. Overall, the prices are very reasonable here. I was pretty surprised that they had such an extensive drink menu with boba! This is a place that Im glad I tried, but will never come back again.

Spicy Pork

Whoever opened this spot in the mall downtown in SF really decided to do it right, as far as the noodles are concerned. I am surprised to find some outside Western Addition/Japantown that is pretty well made on flavor and variety. You can get udon or soba as well with the additions of egg, pork, fish ball and they also have good choices of rice dishes. The prices are about par with the typical noodle spot of $6-$11 and they are always crowded on the weekends. The only drawback is they dont have beer...so much for post-Molly McGee noodlehouse brawls like Mt. View.

My first few times at the restuarant was fairly decent. I mean you pay like $9-$10 for a bowel of ramen, so I cant expect too much from it. You have your selection from chicken to soft tender pork rib. the ramen is alright if youre on the go. However, the last 3 times havent been very pleasant. the waitress were ansty and werent very friendly. They rushed us in and out of the restaurant. On one occasion she got my order wrong, and was actually upset at me that the order was wrong. Overall ... i havent been there since.

I love Ramen. I used to think only this place and Katana-Ya were my only options. I viewed this place as a lesser place than Katana-Ya since it had a "fast food" vibe. This place can have quite the wait, and the Ramen is ok. The broth just hasnt been stewed long enough, but everything is made well. I like this place and Ill take the good with the bad. Men Oh and Genki Ramen out on the Richmond are great they. Theyve outdone this place by lots.

cheap, fast, authentic, tasty noodles for chilly SF summers. had the ajisen and pork was surprisingly tender and tasty, soup divine. bubble green tea was made with matcha and balls were perfectly soft and chewy. would prefer to not have to walk by tasteless mall kiosk hawkers on the way to my cozy bowl of noodles and listening to bridge and tunnel speak while eating, but adding to list of easy soma dinner list for the food. win!

This place is pretty good. Ramen is flavorful and Im never disappointed when I come here. My complaints are that there isnt enough variety in soup bases with the majority being pork, which I dont eat. There is however a few handful selections of vegetarian and a beef ramen that are very good and a select few options that you can sub in for something other than pork broth. A good choice for getting some noodles when at this mall.

I remember the first time I tried it, I thought there bowls looked LIke I was eating bowl out of Naruto!! I will always eat here... I tyipically, add extra BBQ pork, carrots, seaweed, mushrooms... etc. You have to taste the broth..I usually leave with a milk tea,

Food court Japanese eat in or take out with walk-up counter or table service. Staff are brisk and quick to take orders. For the price and environment you really cant go wrong here. Best time to come is after 2:30pm as tables are plentiful and service is not rush. I ended up ordering more than I shouldve, but at least I got to try ahi tuna salad. Lucious pieces of ahi tuna soaked in spicy kim-chee like sauce.

The vegetable ramen was very bland, not much flavor or taste or whatsoever. Nothing special about the broth in this one. Could have use some bamboo shoots and wood ear mushrooms like in most traditional ramens and plus its suppose to be a "veg" ramen. But then again, its in a mall, run by Chinese people who probably dont know about the cuisine. Wont be going back there. Very disappointed.
