Whats the first thing you think about when someone says "Ramen"? Take your time, no need to rush. . . Did you think about a hot steaming bowl of soup with thick noodles and various toppings? Did you think about the ramen in the terms of a college students diet? In both cases did you picture your ramen hot? If yes please continue reading; if no, GTFO. This place is located right across from Ranch 99, completely hard to miss. I went here on a whim to get a ramen fix. I walked in and waited almost 5 minutes before someone acknowledged me. Mind you this was around 7pm and there were 3 servers (one gentleman and 2 ladies) and 3 tables. They seated me right away and by that time I already knew what I wanted; I ordered the black garlic oil ramen with extra noodles and an egg. It didnt take long for my ramen to come out which was good I guess. Good was not a good guess because the soup was at a lukewarm transforming into cold soup. At the top of the soup it was cold and then it was this stable temperature of lukewarm, plus there was a lack of flavor big time. I thought, "Hey! The noodles are going to make up for it." Nope, the noodles were at a stage where it lumps together and super starchy. As for the egg. . . it tasted as though it marinated in soy sauce for two days in the fridge, salty and cold. In the end I didnt even finish my meal, and I always finish my meal. If my meal wasnt disappointing enough I was ignored after being served my meal. One of the ladies was my server and I did not see here anywhere. She was too busy with other customers and there I was sitting in the corner waiting. The only person who did check on me was the gentleman and he refilled my water cup, the only thing that went right. The cost around $17 dollars did not justify the name of this place. Please please please skip this place if youre looking for your ramen fix or any noodle fix. I know this place is convenient in this part of the East Bay but man walk across, buy the ingredients, and make it yourself it will be worth it instead.

We have eaten here three times already and ordered different soups, the Platter and the Pork rice bowl. Definitely not in the map among Japanese restaurants in the Bay area. We went to this only because it is along the way to home and is still open at night. Price is a bit higher for the quality and ambiance of the restaurant. I cant quite put my finger on it but their soups can do better in taste and appearance. What I can definitely point out is that the bamboo shoots on either soup or rice bowl does not help in the mix. They should also be served hot and lively. Cleanliness-wise, it will give guests a better feeling to use the chopsticks if they are individually wrapped. Also, the Platter with its fried potatoes and chicken can be cooked such that the oil is not shouting out. We want the crispiness but not the after taste of the cooking oil.

i love this place b/c its reasonably priced, food is consistently good, menu isnt too large, theyre fairly quick, and great hours. its also located inside of a shopping center (across from the grocery store) and you can stop around at the shops afterwards. we usually get the soft shell crab appetizer, amazing b/c its not too salty, the batter isnt too thick or too greasy, the dipping sauce is delish! and we get the wonton chicken ramen...SO good! then we usually stop afterwards for dessert in the shopping center. either at the bakery next door, or there are a couple of places in the center that serve great bobba tea! theres also a quick cheap massage place upstairs too, not for after a big dinner and dessert LOL but maybe after a long work week. ive gone back to this place over and over again. definitely recommended!

Just checked out Isshin Ramen House for the first time. The place was ok the menu is outside so when you sit down you already have an idea of what you want. I I ordered the Fire Tonkatsu lvl 6 and the waitress suggested lvl 4, which was a good call. I also had the prom gyoza, which was ok and a sake bottle which Ive come to discover I am not a big fan of. The ramen was ok the portion was good size, but the broth was missing something maybe the spicyness didnt let me enjoy it to the fullest, but it wasnt bad. The bill was about $34 for the 3 items. The expensive part was the sake as the ramen and gyoza would have been about $16. Do I recommend Isshin Ramen House? Idk its hard to say it was my first time, but Ill for sure be back to try something else.

Loved this place! The Chicken Karaage was so good, especially the sauce that goes with it (other than ponzu). I also had their Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen: the broth tasted just right. It was so comforting, I shouldve ordered extra broth. Hubby had the Tempura California Roll. Although it only had six slices, each slice is bigger than usual roll. I deducted one star since the soft boiled egg was a bit salty for me.

Tonkotsu shoyu is great! Whenever I find a ramen shop I havent been to, I try their tonkotsu ramen and rate the shop based on that single bowl. I keep coming back to Isshin! If youre really hungry, $3 gets you extra soup and extra noodles. Eat the first serving of noodles only, then add the extra soup and noodles and slam it down! Its like 2 bowls of ramen in one

They have a lot of variety when it comes to ramen, but they arent the best around. My husband gets disappointed every time we go since he loves Ramen and being Japanese grew up around it, hes always disappointed with the taste, texture, and overall quality. I like their Kaarage.

This place is not bad and theyve improved since they first ope but still they need to cut back on the salt and MSG a bit especially with their noodles. But the food I like here are the appetizers, Service is not bad and the price point in right in there with other places.

One of the few times in life when Ive gone to the restaurant and the fire level of spice mess truly means FIRE!! Their ramen is consistently good and flavorful, also love their karrage.

I ordered the curry dish. It says its not a soup, and comes with curry chicken. It came as a curry flavored soup with no chicken. Completely ripped off.

Solid ramen and open pretty late. Their rice bowls actually arent bad either, especially the pork one which despite its simplicity is really delicious.
