This place is good! I really really enjoyed myself here when I stopped in after some errands in Hillcrest. The sandwiches were so unique and the bread some of the freshest Ive had in some time! I got The Illusionist, which I was told would be spicy and although I didnt find it very spicy it was VERY good! They also carry soup which in my mind is so hard to find! I didnt get any but, asked which soups she had that day and I was told Chicken and Dumpling, second choice being Mushroom Brie. Both sound out of this world! The french bread was some of the best Ive had in awhile, it wasnt too hard on the outside but, had a good crust and it was easy to bite. I cant wait next time that Im in Hillcrest for lunch and in the mood for a sandwich I will heavily consider stopping in here again! Especially as the weather cools and I start craving soups!

Sumptuous sandwiches is on their to-go menu and that is a perfect description. I got the Tattooed Lady sandwich ($7.99) with a side of Ninja Ginger Deep River chips. I asked for gouda cheese instead of jack cheese and she offered a few varieties...impressive. Two types of gf bread to choose from as well. Sandwich, chips and a drink was a bit pricey, but I was in the mood for a sammy and it delivered. Soups, salads and paninis to choose from too. Friendly staff and a tables outside if the inside is hoppin. Creative atmosphere to go along with their creative menu. Try it out!

It was a wonderful experience. the woman behind the counter seemed to be the owner and she was soooo nice (and soooo hot) even though I came in on a lunch rush. I just said "Im vegan, what you recommend?". and she rocked it. delicious sandwich, super light. toasted bread. very very fresh ingredients. super fast service. I sat outside facing 5th. oh and its their 5th year anniversary. they didnt have any booz that I saw. there is indoor seating.

The sandwiches can be real hit or miss, with some of the bread they use being either amazingly fresh and delicious to day old and dry as Imperial County. They have a wide variety of creative soup-of-the-days, but those are pretty hit or miss too ranging from amazingly tasty to flagrantly awful. Its just too much of a dice roll to dine here, and their prices are high.

The place is so Great it looks nice inside its so Welcomeing i Fealt comfy eating there the food was Great 2 the people where so nice im planing 2 go every time im around there little Deli <3 overall a Great place 2 Eat and Relax and look around Love the look of the inside my Fiance and my son and i are probably going 2 go back and eat there again soon

No frill sandwich shop with big flavor, nice variety, and 2 types of GF bread. The gals were super-friendly and the place was clean and airy. The Sword Swallower was an appetizing sammy...so many others sounded good as well. My only ding is that it seems a bit pricey for the portion and the daily specials are the regular menu price.

Im visiting from Forest Hills New York on a business trip and was in San Diego for a jewelry convention and read the reviews and decided to stop in and grab a bite to eat. This review is late as I just returned home. My issues: 1. Unfriendly staff 2. Old dried out bread 3. Poor tasting soup 4. Dirty establishment

Have had a sandwich here before and was good, not great but better than what I got recently. I asked for turkey and bacon. I got 2 slices of turkey and a slice of bacon. And they put tomatoes in when I asked for none. Given that I got a torta, I was mostly eating bread. The chipotle gouda was tasty though.

They have a great variety of delicious sandwiches and soups. The fire eater sandwich is a must try in my opinion. The food alone earns Deli Llama 5 stars, but the staff and owner could also earn 5 stars on their own. So friendly! This is the kind of small business I love.
