Above average sandwich fare in San Diego thatll give you a run for your money. Named the top sandwich joint in SD by San Diego Reader, its definitely worth a try. I came on a weekday past the usual lunch rush, although there was still a wait. Parkings a pain, so be patient navigating your way through India St in Mission Hills. Small patio area if you want to bring your pups, but theres not much shade to cool off. We ordered the half-size Dom Pastram on jalapeno jack bread + soup (kale/sausage), and a full Acai bowl (although I think its cool they have a small size acai bowl as a side option). For one person, a half-size is the perfect size. The pastrami was fresh, and the slaw they added was a nice touch. They dont f- around the jalapenos, its spicy- good consistency with soft bread/crunchy outside. The soup was nothing special, a bit on the bland side lacking spices. Additionally, the acai was in the same typical genre- 3 ice cream size scoops of acai, fresh bananas/strawberries, frozen bluberries, granola and agave. Basically, you gotta come for the sandwiches. For the best bang for your buck, split a full sandwich with a buddy, and maybe add a side. Oh, but dont forget the cookie!

I had heard pretty good things about this place and as such had really high hopes coming in, unfortunately I just didnt really enjoy my sandwich as much as I had liked. I tried the Rich Boy, Chipotle Chicken w/ garlic Tabasco mayo aioli, avocado tomato and Monterey Jack on Dutch Crunch... Sounds pretty bomb right? On paper it sounded delicious, I looked at the pictures online an confirmed it looked good. I ordered a half sandwich online which ran me about $9 bucks, not exactly affordable but hey Im willing to shell out a few extra bucks if its as good as it sounds. Visually it looks great but after taking my first few bites I keep waiting to get hit with all the flavor thats supposed to be in the sandwich, it just never came... The chicken was grilled well but it was tasteless, almost like it hadnt been seasoned. I had hoped the chipotle or this Tabasco mayo would stand out but it didnt either. It was just a complete let down. This place looks good enough to deserve a second shot but honestly at that price it might be awhile.

Finally visited this place yesterday after hearing about how great it is from the boyfriend over and over again. And now i think "why have I only now been here?" I have been missing out on Rubicon Delis delicious sandwiches. First of all their sandwiches are big and literally are filled with whatever protein you choose. A half sandwich is more than enough for the hungry-goer and enough to split for two (if not dying from hunger). Not only do they not skimp on their portions but they all taste fresh and delectable. A must get for sure is their garlic cheese bread. yummo. Plus pair anything with their pesto aioli sauce. I got the Achin for Bacon, the boyfriend sticks with his Rich Boy sandwich (only at the Mission Hills location) and Dapper Dipper. Plus if you want even more variety they have the combo with a half sandwich, salad, or soup. The superfood salad and tomato bisque are must trys. And they also give you a cookie with any meal you get. Cute.

We were looking for a place to eat in Liberty Station, but it was to crowd so we headed towards Little Italy to find a place to eat when we bumped across the Rubicon Deli. I ordered the Belly Up sandwich. When I placed the order for a full sandwich, the clerk said it may be too big, but I ordered it anyway. It was mouthwateringly good. It had pork belly and sweet & spicy coleslaw on jalapeño bread. The clerk was right, I could hardly finish the half. That was ok has I was very happy to have it for lunch the next day. They have wrapping paper, tape, bags to wrap your own leftovers. They also have delicious sodas, lots of interesting flavors to choose from.

My BF and I where early to a wine dinner. We were really hungry and saw this deli. We decided to go in and get a quick bite to hold us over. The girls behind the counter were very nice. We told we just wanted something small to share and they suggested the nutty bowl. Its was maybe $5 and exactly what we were looking for. We both thought it was very tasty. If I lived in the area I definitely would come in just for the nutty bowl for a snack. The seating area is small but it was very clean and nice. It was also very quiet. You could study or read back there. I think they had outside seating as well.

Linda and I had lunch at the Rubicon deli here in lower Mission Hills. We thought that the food was quite excellent, high quality breads and that the meets were exceptionally tasty. I had the pastrami on garlic cheddar and LINDA had the turkey on garlic cheddar. Everything tasted just fine. My only wish is that they had told me that the sandwich came with coleslaw instead of lettuce on the actual sandwich. I also think it would be good to offer a side like some chips. Parking is virtually nonexistent on a busy day but fortunately we went on New Years Day so we got easy on the street no charge parking.

This new location for Rubicon is amazing! I highly prefer the Mission Hills location to the smaller Mission Beach original spot. If you need to grab food on the way home from the airport, look no further this is the easiest stop that is uber quick! Food here is always fantasti. Their half sandwiches are the size of most other places whole sandwiches. Love that you can add a side of acia! Great dine-in spot with great indoor temperature controlled seating with great big booths. They also have nice outdoor seating and a second story patio that is hidden and rarely used but with a great view.

Mind blowing cookies and divine, creative sandwiches -- need I say more?! AND they do catering! Always a winner at my works lunch meetings and events! They also so kindly donated their sandwich goodness for CyberTECHs Good Neighbor - Taste of San Diego event that raised money for STEM education programs, The San Diego Food Bank, and workforce development for San Diegans. Big thank you to the Taryna and crew for coming out to the event and catering CyberTECHs other events! (I also have the biggest crush on whoever makes your cookies...)

Possibly the best sandwich shop in San Diego! Meat is sliced to order. Bread is baked in house. Prices are a little above average, but quality is excellent and portions are large and shareable. Everything on the menu is great. I recommend trying the Double Down combo which allows you half a sandwich and a small salad. We love the Dutch Crunch or the cheese bread. We usually go with the Dom Pastram, or the Italian Stallion, and the Baby Bleu Salad. Big plus for having craft cane sugar soda on fountain with free self-serve refills.

So the food is very pricy...I get it. I was very skeptical at first, and I didnt want to spend $14 on a "full" sandwich. The truth is, even someone who hasnt eaten for 10 days couldnt eat that whole thing...The portions are huge, but better yet, the quality is even better. I went with 2 friends, all trying something different. Every item was individually constructed with the utmost professional care. I recommend this place if you have the money.
