테라스 쪽에 앉았는데 햇살 받으며 맛있게 먹었어요. 음식 양이 푸짐한 편입니다. 가격도 나쁘지 않고요. 빵집이 같이 있어 샌드위치가 아주 훌륭해요. 동행인과 모처럼 여행 와서 싸운 날이라 먹기로 한 음식이 나왔을 때 분위기상 사진을 찍을 수 없었는데 그게 몹시 아쉽네요. 둘이 샌드위치, 스파게티, 샐러드를 시켰는데, 웨이터가 알아서 샐러드를 사이좋게 둘로 나눠 갖다 줬습니다. 호감형이고 친절하며 농담도 잘 하는 유쾌한 웨이터였는데 우리가 싸운 걸 눈치 채고 오며가며 계속 말을 시키면서 맛있는 음식 어서 먹으라고 분위기를 돋궈주려고 애썼습니다. 서비스는 훌륭한 편인데 너무 바빠서 뭐든지 좀 늦게 갖다 주는 편입니다. 그리고 동행인의 스파게티는 시킨 거와 다른 게 나왔어요. 싸우지만 않았으면 제대로 갖다 달라고 요청했을 텐데 그럴 분위기가 아니라 그냥 먹었다네요. 조금 시끌벅적하고 테이블 서비스를 기다리는 게 흠이지만, 음식 좋고 서비스 좋아서 별 4개 반을 주고 싶고 누구에게든 추천합니다.

Let me tell you why this place deserves even zero stars if I could. I am a fair and reasonable person so hear me out: The place looks okay I didnt faint but you know... casual, reasonable - thought Id try it for lunch. The food was about 7 out of 10. Again, not so good but not so bad either. Now for the kicker: My sister who was with me ordered antipasto. Unknowingly, it had meet - but she doesnt eat meet (she thought its antipasti). We told the waiter that we want something else for her - she chose a simple salad that happen to cost less. His response? "No problem, Ill get you the salad but I am still gonna charge you for the first dish" - huh??? I said "Why?" and he answered "Because youre making me throw the food worth of $8 so I have to charge you for it"... I said "Wait a second - this is the first time I hear such thing. If the customer is not happy, no matter whos fault is it for the misunderstanding, any decent restaurant would replace the dish without any games!" - he said "I do what my manager tells he - Ill go talk to her" - This was very awkward - I was ready to just in the middle. Finally he conceded and we paid for only what we ate. So there you have it. These kind of places do not deserve to be in business as far as I am concerned. very insulting, very embarrassing. And for this place to be in our Little Italy neighborhood is a total disgrace. Yes, I am sure there are people who dined there and were happy, but for me - NEVER AGAIN.

Let me just say, this review is not about atmosphere or decor, but about the service. Visiting from out of town, my friends and I went into this place just wanting to buy a pastry. It was 9:50 and the worker behind the counter informed us that it was 10 minutes till close. I said that it was fine, and I just wanted to buy a pastry to go. She said okay but she had to ring out the customers she had just helped. Understandable. I wait for her to return, she comes back and shuts the lights off in the counters and tells me along with other people now waiting that she is sorry, but they are closed. I ask for an explanation, and she said that its now past ten and they are closed. I get she has a life, and that store hours are till ten. But where Im from, of your customers make it through the door during business hours, you serve them and decline any more attempts for service from that point. Very poor customer service, and I will never go there, attempt to go there, and suggest you dont either. I was absolutely shocked by it, and Im not one to usually speak my mind even when Im upset, but this is the very mindset that doesnt make me miss San Diego, and one of the main reasons Im glad I dont live here anymore. You can keep your pastries, especially when you drive away paying customers.

Being new to Little Italy, but eager to explore its eateries, we simply browsed the menus posted in front of the many restaurants. It quickly became clear that it was hard to go wrong – they all appeared inviting. But there was something a little different about Solunto. Maybe it was the pleasing hum of friendly conversations that emanated from within. Maybe it was the promenade of pedestrians that slowly flowed past the appealing outdoor tables. Maybe it was the friendly face of the host or hostess at the doorway. Whatever it was, we made our choice. However, the menu posed a challenge. So many great choices! My wife went with the spaghetti scogiloI, with a light blend of spices and seafood ingredients. I went with the much more zesty penne pasticciate, with a request that the chef embellish it with a few anchovies. We were both very pleased with our choices. We did have a minor issue. However, our server, Signore K, immediately intervened. His extra effort and attentive service quickly alleviated our concern. He and his colleagues treated us with lavish attention. At the end of the day, we left very satisfied with our first experience in San Diego’s famous Little Italy. We will return.

We have been to Soluntos many time over, and this local bakery never fails. The place went through a renovation a few years back, and it looks amazing! Soluntos has been consistent with their service and offerings. To the left of the counter, youll have the espresso bar, gelato station and a long window display of desserts, cookies and pastries. Take your time ogling -- youll probably end up picking up more than youll ever need. I always pick up the classic cannoli, biscotti and chocolate concoctions with hazelnut. The service is always friendly and helpful. Sometimes, youll see the owner serving up cookies and pastries during rush / lunch hour. I believe you can order other lunch items from the menu, but we have yet to give it a try. Soluntos, we love your presence in the neighborhood. Youll always have my business!

OMG! Unbelievably great Italian. Had the Linguini Mediterraneo, colleague had the Capellini Mare E Monti, both were awesome. Seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. The pasta is Italian pasta, not heavy like normal american pastas. We sat at the bar for dinner as table seating was about a 15-20 minute wait at 8:30PM on a Saturday night. Loved the hustle and bustle of the crowded restaurant. Wait staff was attentive, and friendly! The pesto dip you get with a basket of bread is to die for! In San Diego on business, but will definitely be back to have dinner next time I am in S.D.

Good choice to take your out of town guests. If you only have an hour to spend in Little Italy for dinner or lunch or even a snack, this is the place. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes, and the gelato bar and pastries to the left of the entrance offers the perfect finale to the fusion of the Italian-Sicilian flavors of this very modern and upscale restaurant. The map of Sicily and a framed photo of Our Lady of Fatima, along with the yellow paint that had the old country feel before the renovation, have given way to blue tiled walls and high ceilings of this landmark eatery.

Wonderful outdoor seating, friendly staff, delicious food, attractively plated food, excellent drinks, and an Italian bakery inside! We tried the truffle gnocchi, which has a cream sauce with truffle oil. If you like alfredo sauce, I would recommend this dish. The spaghetti and meatballs was very fresh and satisfying. The marsala chicken sandwich was great. It was a classic marsala on crusty bread with melted mozzarella and plenty of lettuce and tomatoes to add. The cappellacci con zucca was a delicious take on butternut squash ravioli. It has a bit of a sweet flavor though.
