I stopped by Cupcakes Squared as I was perusing Ocean Beach, and was I in for a treat! They practically reinvented the cupcake, and once youve gone squared, youll never go back to the round original. The cupcake is literally a square, where the edges of the cake paper are only attached at the bottom, which is an ingenious way to get to the tasty goodness inside. When you think cupcake, you think dense, heavy and filling—but this was anything but that. The cake was so light and the frosting was AMAZINGLY lighter, while maintaining its richness—they were perfectly paired. Granted I only tried the peanut-butter cupcake, but they all looked decadent. If youre looking for a new twist on a cupcake that leaves your taste buds satisfied, your stomach light and your mind without a guilty conscience...Cupcakes Squared is the way to go.

I threw a baby shower for a dear friend of mine this weekend and her cousin ordered cupcakes from Cupcakes Squared. When looking at the site (prior to ordering) the concept was good and was something different for the cupcake loving mommy to be, but they left much to be desired. They were well decorated, but the cake lacked flavor and was very dry. The redless red velvet was nothing close to red velvet regardless of color. I was very disappointed in these cupcakes and will never order again. Betty Crocker mixes taste better and are much cheaper.

Cupcakes are presented well and look very good, unfortunately the taste didnt match the looks. My wife and I bought 1 dozen assorted cupcakes and after sharing a few different flavors, we had 8 left over that just didnt appeal to us any more that were thrown out. Cake wasnt very moist, more like banana nut bread, and buttercream tasted more like whipped cream. I guess after tasting Crumbs, and Sprinkles in Beverly Hills, nothing really compares to those two. Although I would rank you slightly above Heavenly Cupcakes in the Gaslamp.

This place has delicious cupcakes!!! I dont know why some one would say the cake is dry. The cupcakes are so moist with super yummy frosting. I live in LA. Every time I go down to San diego, I always have to stop by there. Customer service is also a plus. They will wrap your cupcake with bow and pretty ribbon free of charge. They also use premium ingredient-- Hawaiian Vanilla from the big island. Also, they do not use any food coloring. My favorite flavors-- carrot cake, lemon, and butter pecan.

Yum! a friend got cupcakes for her sons bday party from Cupcakes Squared. I couldnt believe that she would make such a trip considering the party was held in Alpine, but when i tasted one, i knew that id soon be making the pilgrimmage to the bakery too. She had specially ordered gluten-free strawberry ones for us, and my daughter and i did not miss the gluten at all. i usually scrape off the nasty frostings from cakes, but not this time. im dying for them to come out with a cookbook.

These are the best cupcakes ever made. Why should anyone ever grade this down below 5 stars? Every time I eat one of these things my entire body vibrates with pleasure. I am a constant devotee to these magnificent works of art and eat them whenever I possibly can. I always hated cupcakes until I tasted this wonderful foamy sponge for the first time. Never again will I ever even consider buying another cupcake. The only downside is that they are a little expensive.

It is hard to find rich delicious cakes. But there are a few excellent places in San Diego. Cupcakes Squared is one of those places. If you are looking for a sugar icing cupcake, youre in the wrong place. Their butter cream topped cupcakes are the pinnacle of rich and deliciousness. A must try for all cake lovers.

So many amazing flavors. Weve had them for parties, showers, and family birthdays. Chef Robin can accommodate a range of food allergies without losing any of the amazing flavor. My mother in law is dairy intolerant and my daughter was wheat allergic. We still had delicious birthdays thanks to Robin!

I purchased $47 worth of cupcakes for my daughters birthday party today from UTC. It was my first time and what a MISTAKE!! They were ALL stale!!! I purchased one cupcake for each child and they took ONE bite and tossed them out. It was not only emberassing, but expensive! $47 down the drain.

Cupcakes Squared catered for our wedding and they did an excellent job. They were very generous with tastings too which was a very happy bonus! Their cakes are moist and soft with light frosting made of real butter. Strawberry and lilikoi are my favorites!
