My opinion has changed after tonight. We have been coming here since It first opened. I have never had such horrible customer service! They stuffed 3extra large sized burritos in a paper bag which broke so we were given another paper bag which broke again. We should never have to catch our food from hitting the ground. We order the same thing every time and it is always put in a plastic bag . That wasnt even the worst part. Only one burrito was actually wrapped the other two were open . When I bit into mine the tortilla was so hard and stale ! I called them immediately and a young guy answered the phone and told me "it was your husbands fault he dropped them on the floor so thats on him" I was appalled and stated you just lost our business . If they were dropped on the floor and open how is it they were taken by the staff and put back into yet another small paper bag? Which started to rip when it was given back? Two out of the three burritos were so badly made my son and myself couldnt eat them due to how stale the tortillas were they just exploded. My husband and I both work in customer service and would never be allowed to talk that way to a customer or we would be fired on the spot! He also ACCUSED HIM OF DROPPING THEM ON THE GROUND WHEN THEY NEVER DID!!!! Everything tasted different even the two LARGE salsas we paid extra for. Hopefully that kid learns how to work with the public so he can keep his job . I will never come here again which is sad for us. Living in landpark we have always supported small businesses but not this one anymore. I miss the older crew .

Stopped by here one day because the place is always packed with students and working types. I looked over the menu, agreeably priced but neglected to remember you get what you pay for. Got the chicken burrito and waited a very long ten minutes for what amounted to the worst burrito I have ever eaten. No rice, no beans, no salsa, no cheese...just some grade F chicken grilled up and served in a snotty yellow sauce wrapped in a tortilla. Ate it anyway because I was really hungry. Had it cascade out my a##hole two hours later in a furious tide that probably scoured the plumbing on its way to the treatment plant. Omg. It was a bad enough experience that I will never go there again. Anyone that gives a good rating to this spot must rank Applbees as quality dining. This is nothing more than a place for people that see sating hunger as a task on a level with returning movies to the rental store or getting gas. That or a teenager from the high school across the street that could care less. Disgusting. An insult to those of us that have tasted true Mexican cuisine.

Sacramento has so many Mexican restaurants and everyones favorite taqueria is a personal preference but for me Oscars makes some of the best carne asada tacos Ive had and easily my personal favorite carne asada fries. The biggest issue with this location is the parking. With a recent change to the surrounding neighborhood to permit only parking there are only a handful of parking spaces near the restaurant. So be prepared to walk a bit or possibly have a plan b if it is too insane. Finally the advice I was given that I dont take often enough is that if your going during the school year call ahead because the wait can be a bit long when McClatchy High students fill the place.

This is a $37 take out order. The food was fine with generous portions. Service was terrible. I ordered sides of salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. I confirmed the order when I arrived and asked for extra chips. For an extra price I was told. I explained that if you can not throw in a bag of chips I will never come back, and now I will not. Arrived home and no salsa. Called and was told I was not charged for it. I told her I could not verify that because the receipt was not "in the bag". No plates, no napkin, no utensils and not instructed or asked. Done with this place.

I have been to at least 7 places in this area that are purportedly good places. This one is the real deal IMHO. The food is Southern California Style and it would fit perfectly in San Diego with the same types of lines waiting for their food. I understand that here in Northern California that Carnitas is what everybody feels is the best option on the menu but this place has much better options than that. California Burritos, excellent shredded beef tacos, and more, this place is definitely worth a visit and many returns.

I moved to Sacramento ten years ago. One night I was looking for a place to eat and came across Oscars and by chance ordered a California burrito. I never tasted anything like it. I became hooked on their food. Since then I go there quite often. The food is basic yet it is always good. The service is as fast as they can do it. I often get a breakfast burrito. The place is small so it is best to go when school is over.

Had the breakfast burrito with bacon. With in minutes of eating half of it. I began to feel very very very very very sick. I rarely get sick but this time got me so bad I couldnt work the next day. I dont suggest eating here. When I called to let them know. The lady on the phone pretended like she didnt speak English. Never again will I eat here.,

I was impressed by the food. Its was all high quality. Where this place falls a little short for me personally, is, i really dont see the inventive and creative fusion of modern and old. Theres just not enough surprises. I felt as if the chef wasnt bold enough. Some of his reinterpretations are really just copies of dishes that exist already globally.

Well. . . . From what Ive picked up, many people dont like Oscars to much. I guess it is a McClatchy thing to like it, 98% of the students and most teachers would agree that is is good food, for vegetarians even. If you dont want to wait in long lines avoid going from 7:00 am to 8:30 am and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m, its packed with students.

Just tried Oscars for the first time and lets just say I wont be going back. I ordered the carnitas plate and instead of carnitas they gave me crumbs of burnt meat. It was hard and completely tasteless. The guacamole was bland. I dont know what the big hype is about. They charge a lot for crappy food.

Drove out of our way to try a different place and so glad we did. We craved carne asada fries today and the meat and guacamole was excellent. Tried 2 other places previously and dont want to go back. Great people and only thing I would request is to cook the fries longer so they have a better crunch.

Outstanding value, excellent burritos, made simply so if you expect rice, lettuce, guacamole or other extras ask for them. The medium green salsa and the pickled carrots/onions/jalapenos are wonderful sides. At times the high school kids pack the place, it pays to call ahead once you know the menu.
