Based on the reviews my friends and I decided to try out this place. I should have known better than to even go in after seeing its location (behind a shell gas station and next to a liquor mart). The place smelled like marajuana smoke and we waited forever for anyone even to come out and seat us in the empty restaurant. For all you ladies out there- stay away from the waiter Rashid or as he calls himself "Conehead". After we finally got seated he spent the entire evening rubbing up against my friend who was at the end of the bench and refused to leave us alone. He made everyone very uncomfortable with stories of his "affairs" here in america while his wife was back in Morocco and making lewd and inappropraite comments all evening. The prices were outragous especially considering the setting- we kept asking for something less expensive on the menu but were told the minimum was $23 PER PERSON. No sharing meals. 3 hours later were finally given our check and then TOLD how much we were going to tip this insane waiter! After what seemed like eternity being trapped in the twilight zone we finally were able to escape. So Id just like to warn everyone out there-- unless youd like to overpay for an extremely uncomfortable and creepy dining experience--stay away from the casablanca restaurant!!!

No matter how the outside looks, you just have to go in and try it! I have passed by this place so many times..... we finally went for a special occasion. Theres not much parking - we had to park at the gas station next to it. The inside decor is great. Set to look like the inside of a great fancy tent. The owner was wonderful, came around and spoke to each table, very personable. There was entertainment during the meal - a belly dancer! The food was delicious! Our 1st time eating Moroccan foid, so nothing to compare with, but really enjoyed the food. Almost everything had some sweetness to it, but not overpowering. The honey chicken was amazing. There is a carrot salad (warm) that was surprisingly very good. One of my companions detests cooked carrots, but really loved this dish. The flavors are tasty but not overpowering. A wonderful experience! The only reason I couldnt give it 5 stars, is it needs some sprucing up - the hall and bathrooms need paint, cleaning up, etc. The floor cushion seats are somewhat tattered, etc. (There is regular seating at each table also) I am looking forward to returning! And if youre a little adventurous, you should go too!

My fiancee already left a review but I need to say a few words myself about this place. I LOVE to cook and I dont consider myself a bad one. In fact I find disappointment in 95 % of the restaurants we go out to eat at. Im sure my fiancee is completely sick of hearing me say what spices are missing or how I could have cooked it better. Casablanca is one of very few restaurants that completely satisfied my normally insatiable need for spice and flavor. I think I might grow another thumb just so I could give it three thumbs up. In addition, the service is unlike anything I have ever experienced. I have never eaten at a restaurant where they tell you exactly what spices are used and how its prepared (without even having to ask mind you). Also, Conehead is more than willing to share a bit of history/tradition about each dish being served. Some may complain the food is a bit pricey but this is like taking a trip to Morocco for dinner. And last I checked our $60 bill was quite a bit cheaper than a round trip ticket to Morocco. Lastly, I just got my fiancees joke about thinking outside of the pizza box (from the only negative review about this place). Yuk! Yuk! Yuk!

We often like to try new restaurants when we are traveling and my fiance loves Moroccan food, so when we were in Sacramento for a business trip we decided to try Casablanca based on the reviews on google. Im so glad we did! We went early in the evening (6:30) and had the whole restaurant to ourselves (its small) but quaint, and Rashid (Conehead) was very gracious and remembered my fiance from when he called for the reservation. Rashid kindly explained every element and tradition of the dishes he brought out, each of which were simple but exquisite. The best part I have to say was the tea they served with dinner which was amazing. We bought a package of it and the owner of the restaurant told us how to make it just right, and even gave us a bag of fresh mint to go along with it. The secret ingredient is orange blossom water! Definitely pick some up after dinner. All in all, you need to be willing to think outside the pizza box to eat here, but when you do you will get real, flavorful food made with a passion!

We visited this restaurant tonight, and the service was absolutely horrible. The server is extremely rude, yanking the menu from you, deciding which of the two options on the menu we were going to have, yelling at us when we got up to outside to get away from the absolutely miserable heat inside, and taking an extremely long time with any request. Several people asked for things, repeatedly, which they were never served. The food was so-so, but the courses were no where near worth the $25.00 per person that we paid. 2 hours after the food was served, with much of our party leaving, and after still not getting the check we finally just threw down enough to cover the 11 people in our party, plus the included gratuity. The server chased us down in the parking lot and insisted that we owed him almost $70.00 more than we had paid. We threw another $40 in cash at him for the sake of covering the tax he swears was not included and just to get him off of us.

Personally, I feel this place is a little too pricy, and I do have a personal issue about my experience. The food was mostly decent, and the motif was something to be spoken for to be sure (the furnishings and tapestried walls are very interesting and nice), but my brother wanted to order just an entré because he doesnt like many of the foods in the feast (i.e., soup), and they refused to accommodate his request. They then said that because we were going to share one meal instead, we would be getting less food for the same price. They then proceeded to be very inhospitable toward my brother and wouldnt let him wash his hands. They treated me like a sultan and my brother like dirt. Our pet died today, and we wanted to go somewhere to have a good meal and a stiff drink, and this place didnt even serve alcohol! The bathroom was disgusting and the kitchen was gross!

Fun and interesting. Definitely worth going. Food was a little limited in choices and you always get this almond egg pastry thing - which was just OK. The lentil soup was excellent. And music and belly dancing was fun. Its small but beautiful inside, youd never guess from outside. We were there for over 3 hours! Not an eat and run place. So all in all Atmosphere - 10/10 Service 8/10 - I was thirsty for a while Comfortable - 9/10 - padded benches and big pillows are pretty comfy. Food selection - 5/10 they choose a lot for you and theres only a few things you get to choose. Price - 7/10 - $23 a person at least. Dont try to get a $5 plate. Not gonna happen. Food - 8/10 - I liked a lot of what they had quite a bit. The tea was excellent, and the soup. 5 course meal! I liked my entree but I think Ill try a different one next time.
