I happily stumbled upon this place with family while looking for a place to eat prior to a showing at the Fox Theater down the road. We ordered the Beef Stroganoff (tender beef), Babushkiny Zrazy (stuffed potato patties), Pelmeny s Kuritsey (chicken dumplings) with a side of water and Kvass (russian malt drink similar to root beer). The service was great, the place was lovely and our food was fantastic. For desert we sampled the a Russian cherry pastry and a cheese and raspberry crepe. All equally delicious. Prior to leaving the place filled up with a lot of local Russian Families which really speaks for the quality of the place and its authenticity. Highly recommend it for those looking to try something new beyond the usual big name chains around the local area. I will definitely be coming back here.

Oh yeah! For those of us who like small family run places that value quality and happy customers, this place is heaven. Start with the soup (several varieties including, of course, borscht) - its like they made the batch just for you, fresh, hot, a satisfying & tasteful appetizer. And then the pelmeni gets a total OMG!! rating - piping hot & delish!! They have several pelmeni options, I often enjoy the mushroom. And then their taste in vodka is excellent with a nice variety - have yourself a Moscow Mule and explore the various options. Ive been a happy patron for years. The family use to have their restaurant in San Bruno, they moved to RWC a few years ago. So yes, its the same great place, now in RWC.

The food is fine. Definitely not the best. But what comes as a surprise is that they do their best to get rid of the customers, and make you hate this place. The restaurant should be open till 3 pm. I came at 2:20 and they shut the door in my face. I chose another restaurant next door, so I saw that 4 more people came to have a lunch, but had no chance to do it. The owner is always rude. I am Russian. I got used to rude people. Nothing seems too rude or tough for me, but this guy is way too much. Unfortunately all of my friends had awful experience in here. So, welcome if you are ready for a stress test!

Great atmosphere went on a hot Sunday afternoon and whole street was pretty quiet but there were still a few parties inside. Was greeted warmly sat down and salads and bread brought to us. Love the dressing they used like a sweet vinaigrette then order the breaded chicken patties chicken Kiev and Russian banquet. Russian food is made to be enjoyed with vodka and their vodka is pretty top noch. Food was hearty and very good everything I would expect from a home cooked meal. Loved it.

The borsht was like home made but very rich. The plemey was good but needed to be tossed in the sour cream rather than having it on the side. We liked it enough to want to try it again, but we also want to give them a chance to get settled in and refine the menu. This was my birthday dinner and I had told them so when we made the reservation and no one even said happy birthday or anything. A little bit disappointed about that... Will try it again and update my review.

Great restaurant for a break from the (boring) norm. Blini po tsarsky awesome, and for the seemingly less adventurous the Chicken Kiev but it is freshly cooked by Natalya (yes the owners are both Russian) and really delicious. European beer selection is great as is the choice of vodkas, and the Moscow Mule is dangerous... Its never insanely busy and good for a group. Owner (Vladimir) is a real character and fun to chat to. Highly recommended.

I give this restaurant 4 1/2 stars! What a nice change from "the usual!" We had varenyky, beef stroganoff and Chicken Kiev! All of the food was excellent! The vodka and European beer offerings are exceptional! Owner, Vladimir is a character, but you might not know it until you talk to him. We will visit this restaurant frequently!

A gem in a downtown full of chain or underwhelming dining establishments. Im far from an expert on Russian or Eastern European cuisine, but I appreciate fresh food prepared with pride. The Kotlety, kebab, olivie, and pork-beef dumplings are all winners. A terrific introduction to an underrepresented cuisine in the Bay Area.

This was a pleasant surprise, found just walking around downtown Redwood City. The food is excellent. The balance of flavors is nice, and its obvious they put care into each dish they prepare. The owner is very friendly. Good beer on tap too.

Were suppose to open at 11. My brother arrived at 11:30. Was told that the owner is not there and they will start serving lunch at 12. He didnt come to have lunch with the owner he just wanted to have lunch, This is not Soviet Union.

I have to admit that the service here wasnt fantastic, probably because youre being served by the actual Russian family, Vladimir and Tatiana. Its delicious, definitely go.

Great Russian restaurant. Approved by real Russian (me). Try mushroom soup with sour cream. Kvas is pretty good too, and Perez s Myasom (with meat) is delicious!

The undiscovered secret of Peninsula Dining. Youve never had food like this before unless youve lived in a country home in Russia. Cant say enough about it.

I wish Russian family was my family. The owners work inside and are friendly, and the food tastes like it was made by your own Russian mother.

Food is ok but far from great even comparing to other Bay Area Russian restaurants. Frozen crepes and bottled kvass. Can not recommend it.
