My fiancé and I are always on the lookout for tasty, inexpensive food on the way to/from our favorite hiking spots. The eating options on the Olympic side of the Hood Canal are not very plentiful, especially in the off season when many places are closed. Yesterday, we were lucky enough to stumble upon The Tides! The service was very friendly, and we felt very welcome even though we were obviously the only out-of-towners in the establishment. Their menu is surprisingly large, filled with lots of options for local shellfish as well as the essential option to order from the breakfast menu all day. We chose the oyster sandwich and the BLT (biggest Ive ever had!!!), both with a side of the clam chowder. Everything was delicious--they clearly use good quality ingredients and put lots of thought and care into the food. The clam chowder stood out above most Ive tried, especially on the Olympic Peninsula! In short, dont pass up this place--Im glad we didnt!

Regular couple times a month to one of the few places to eat within a few miles of Hoodsport (North about 2 miles). The interior offers no-frills setting and sometimes youll find the service running about bit thin with longer waits and chance to chat it up with the locals. But once the food arrives off the broad menu, youll get generous servings of good tasting food including anytime breakfast.

We stopped because it was past lunch time and it looked OK. We saved it for future trips because it was great. Nice people, friendly atmosphere, great service and the food was perfect. I had fish and chips, the wife had chowder. In terms of fancy or great views no, but it is a classic, the American diner with great food, lots of it and a comfortable feel to it.

What a great local cafe. We eat there often and have never been disappointed which is saying a great deal about the over quality of the food and service which is always above average. Great breakfast and lunch place and open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Can highly recommend. Best part about the Tides are prices which are very fair.

Great place to go for a real mom and pops atsmophere. food is great breakfast is the best. you get lots on your plate only leave hungry if you didnt choose to eat. best place to eat in Hoodsport. Try the chicken fried steak or stuffed browns for breakfast. Soups are homemade clam chowder every day best on the canal..

We stopped at this little place on the side of the road after a camping trip in the Olympics. What a hidden gem. Great food, huge portions, and the best seaside town mom and pop spot you can think of. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area.

The feel was very relaxed. The meal was not one of my top 20. I would eat there again if I ran out of gas right Id I was very hungry. Although if I was only slightly hungry and ran out of gas I would walk the short 3 miles to hoodsport.

If you find yourself traveling in the area you must stop by the Tides. The upkeep of the building is a bit lacking, and the water spots on the ceiling may make you wonder if you are at the right place, but the food is worth it.

The structure of the building could use a little TLC, but if you want fantastic food at reasonable prices then go to the Tides. The hours change according to the season, so check ahead especially during the winter weekdays.

2014 it was very hit and miss. Had a few bad meals but generally all right. 2015 was much better, often go for breakfast is been much more consist and higher quality. Didnt have 1 bad plate all year.

Very old school. Has charm due to age and authenticity. Super nice people, reasonably priced, fast, and friendly. If your a snob pass this one up.

Over priced! Soggy hash browns and cheap processed cheese. I would have enjoyed a banana and bottle of water more.
