Lets talk about the "$2.50 rule" Im a loyal, repeat customer of what I think is the best sushi on he East side of Petaluma. However after coming here almost weekly for 2 years, I had a really bad experience and just have to share. The $2.50 rule is about service. And if you know and love sushi like I do, you can appreciate not all sushi restaurants are known for giving good service. Now, when it comes to sitting at the bar, and talking to the sushi chef, this place is as good as any other. So back to this experience... I dont particularly care for miso soup, so like the 100 other times, I ordered my dinner and asked for 2 salads (made of lettuce and shaved carrots) instead of the salad and soup the dinner comes with. But this night, must have been busy and maybe I crossed them on a bad night, but they charged me $2.50 for the second salad and took me from a happy, repeat customer who recomended this restaurant to all my friends to a frustrated and agitated customer who feels offended. So the moral of my story is, for $2.50 was it really worth it?!

So the old Lakeville Garden sushi closed. It reopened not long after but is under new ownership with a new menu. I had stopped going previously because honestly, the sushi wasnt that great and the prices werent cheap enough to make up for not so great sushi. The menu was too busy with too many choices and everything was drenched in sauce. This seems to have changed for the better. I got takeout one night after getting off my bus home from the city and I was pleasantly surprised. The menu is much more concise with the staples as well as a few unique options. Nothing was swimming in sauce and the spicy tuna was really, really good (something that disappointed me from the old ownership - and thats my benchmark). Ill be coming back again now because the quality is that much better. Its so much better I honestly think they need to change their name to get away from the stigma of the old business.

I would like to say that this place USED to be the spot to come to, but their new waiters killed it for me. I came there to eat some decent sushi after coming back from Mexico, and after receiving one of the slowest service ever, and being the least prioritized customer, the waiter DEMANDED A TIP! She came to my table and said why didnt I leave her a tip and caused a scene. She kept going on and on about leaving a tip and basically called me and my Hispanic culture disgusting. That was absolutely disrespectful and disgusting! I feel very disrespected. Never coming back here again after being a loyal customer.

Great Japanese restaurant! Excellent food, great prices, clean and comfortable. This is one of the best Japanese restaurants Ive ever had the pleasure to have eaten in from San Francisco to Marin to Sonoma. Everything is good! From the miso soup to the perfect salads and to the Bento boxes, the sushi, the sashimi and the fabulous rolls, everything is fresh and tasty! Funny that its located in a little strip mall, but dont let that put you off. Great food, good service, good prices. I love it!

Let me start by saying PLEASE understand Lakeville Garden reopened under new ownership Aug2016. So any bad reviews you read before that should be ignored. This places has good sushi for the price. Not the best in town but the service is great and the sushi is dependable. I recommend it for anyone that is a frequent consumer of sushi on a budget.

I used to love this place under the former owners. Great and creative sushi menu and surprisingly high quality for the area. The last who used to run the show on her own was always very nice and hustling. New stuff is decent. More standard menu, nothing exciting and quality is middle of the road. Not my favorite anymore but not bad.

I havent been there since the new ownership until tonight. I will never go there again. Not only is it overpriced, but when I ordered to , they did not put the orders separate containers, did not provide enough ginger, wasabi, and what have you. Also, they were not very friendly.

The food was unexpectantly good. Service was ok, but when you see a broken door up front and told that the bathrooms are out of service it makes you wonder how everything in the back is taken care of. Would recommend the food but question maintenance.

A nice bento lunch special and they accommodated some of our partys dietary needs. Food was just fresh enough, but could have been fresher.
