I finally had a chance to visit Pasadena Sandwich Company with my friend after hearing a lot of buzz about it. And like everybody says, the sandwiches are humongous, but worth the price. Youre able to order at the counter for to-go orders, or you can sit down at a table to have your order be taken. The storefront is quite small with a few tables at the main entrance as well as a few more around the side. But because people pretty much eat and then leave, you wont have to wait too long for a table. Theres a small lot in the back for parking, but there is also residential parking close to the restaurant. I really like the atmosphere of the restaurant. Everybody is super nice and seem really relaxed and happy. That in turn makes you, the customer, feel just as relaxed and excited to eat the food. Theres also a very homey vibe to the restaurant. My friend and I decided to split Trust the Cook ($12). Basically its whatever the cook is feeling like making for you that day. All you know for sure is that the sandwich will be enormous. Im not sure if we had to pay extra to split the sandwich, but we did request to have them split the side order into one of the potato salad and macaroni salad. The sandwich came with a pickle, pepper, some fruit, and we also received some chocolate kisses. I dont exactly know what was in there, but I do know that it tasted good. There were more than 3 different meats, more than 2 types of cheese, tomatoes ... it was a good combination. I also really liked the potato salad, which is their most popular side. The macaroni salad didnt have very good flavor in my opinion. I could barely finish half of my sandwich, so I would definitely say this place has good leftovers for dinner since they only open until about 3. One other unique thing about PSC is that they have a ton of different and unique sauces on the side for you to try. I think there was cranberry mustard, Sriracha mustard - we tried almost everything! It made the sandwich eating experience much more fun. Definitely will be back to try out more sandwiches, but I will always bring somebody with me to split half!

This is a small sandwich shop located in East Pasadena. Its quite a drive from the office, but my coworkers often insist that it is the best deli sandwich that you can get around here. Yeah, its pretty good AND filling. The layout is confusing at first. Theres an inside and an outside-ish section. Outside-ish being in a corridor between 2 buildings, but its still covered from the elements. Both sections are fully serviced by waiters but seating is not exactly strict either. Sit at a table or be assigned a table, and youll eventually get service from one of the friendly waiters here. -=-The Chicago on Onion Roll-=- This sandwich is where its at. The amount of meat that they stuff in this sandwich is ridiculous. I decided on the Chicago since I was undecided between the corned beef and pastrami, so why not get both. Im not a fan of rye, so I switched it out for the onion roll. Regardless, this entire sandwich will be consumed by the meats. Even the swiss cheese mattered less. This hulking sandwich will have you yelling mercy about halfway through. -=-PSC "Philly"-=- I was feeling like a hot sandwich so I tried this today. I wasnt feeling it. Yes, they put "Philly" in quotes to designate that its not really a Philly, but in order to even claim it there needs to be ooey gooey melted cheese dominating over the beef. This sandwich didnt quite have that. The PSC "Philly" did adhere to the tons-of-meat requirement though. PSC is still the king of deli sandwiches, so stick to one of those if this is your first visit.

GPS announced "45 minutes" as I headed towards Pasadena Sandwich Company. My stomach was hoping that traffic would work in its favor and the commute would be shorter, but the magical GPS was spot on. As I walked up, I grabbed the doorknob and pulled with eager anticipation--but it held firm. I scanned for the hours: "Closed 2:30." I looked at my watch. It was 2:45. I feel risk is choice, and, without it, no door will ever open. I waved at a figure inside and a young lady walked up to the door. I said, with much hope, "I am from Orlando, Florida, and I was so hoping to eat one of your famous sandwiches!" The guys in the back screamed (with great enthusiasm), "We cant turn you away if you are from Orlando and came to check us out!" We exchanged comments and laughter and I asked the guys to make me whatever they wanted to make. I was presented with a "Route 66" sandwich that stood tall with layers of cheese, meats, and sauces. The Route 66 paved its way to being the best sandwich I have eaten, and if it wasnt because I was on business travel, I would have been able to save the second half for an entire other meal. The team working there was lively and provided me with a "must do" during my stay in California. The door was closed, but in the end it was a great experience. Some doors are ready to be opened if you only ask...and if youre THAT hungry. Thank you, Pasadena Sandwich Company.

(This was about 2012, but it changed the date on my review when I made a small edit): Quite energetic, helpful people. It was rather busy when I went there at 13:00 hrs on Saturday. Maybe it was just the particular person that happened to be on the register, but she took my order (and those of the persons in front of me) in a friendly, sociable manner. And another person got my friend a box to carry his stuff later without even being asked. Delicious food and generous portions; I got a hot pastrami sandwhich to go. The name I gave was weird and hand-written by the person who took the order, and the noise level high, so I didn't hear another lady walking around asking for "Why-er-bahler" for several minutes (plus I was sitting facing out the window). That person was understandably a bit grumpy at the time that they hadn't been able to find me, but when I left a little later they said, "Have a good day, whatever your name is!" with a smile, and bid me to enjoy my sandwhich. Overall, quite a pleasant visit; I'll definitely be back. -Wireball

Ive always wanted to try this famed sandwich co but I never did. What a tragedy. This is a tiny place at first glance, but they take over the hallway of the building with their 1950s tables and chairs. The walls are peppered with hats. I didnt understand it, but its a nice kind of kitchy. Just have a seat and a friendly waitress will be with you soon. Ill probably call in my order next time. #1 I loved their potato salad. It has bits of purple onion and is seasoned well. Service: The ladies and gentlemen are happy, peppy, friendly, and helpful the entire time you are there. I had the roast beef sandwich with provlone. They offered grilled peppers which I know was so nice, but I dont like peppers. There is also what I suspect is a homemade pickle and a few spicy peppers. $14 lunch with a huge sandwich, side, pickle, peppers, and ice tea. Also, they have cards on all the tables and my friend told my romantic fortune with it. You can play poker or Solitare, whatever you please. This is a cute and fun place.
