Personally, this place has always been my number one choice when Im thinking of a place to go for breakfast, brunch, or lunch in Pasadena. I love the cozy atmosphere of the place (great place to share quiet conversation with a friend or small group of friends), and Ive never experienced any unfriendliness from the staff. Perhaps a little shy or quiet, but not at all unfriendly. In fact, theyve always been very warm, smiling, and friendly to me during my visits there. I love their huevos rancheros dish, and their spiced cafe de la olla always warms me up inside. Dont plan on stopping coming to this place any time soon.

Stay away - BUGS!! Went to the restaurant this week and we had to swat at gnats all the way through our meal. We only half ate our dinner and let the gnats land in the butter, in the bread etc. We informed the waiters, who were preoccupied watching soccer, and they were aware of the problem, but didnt express any concern. Tried to contact one of the two owners, but they were never available and never returned our calls. Wont be going back there - will be gong to Malbecks down the street where there were NO bugs.

After ordering and watching others who got there after us eat and leave our food finally came 1hour later and their excuse was "thats the way the order was put in" .....lame excuse! The food was good but service was crappy ...never make an excuse just own up to it and say sorry ...it sucks when you see 4 to 5 tables that came in after you, finish eating while you are still waiting for your pancakes and eggs and your kids are hungry... I had high expectations and was severely disappointed!

We chose this place because we had a party of 12 for brunch and they seemed to have a good variety of items on the menu. As it turned out, the food was ok; probably merits 3 stars. However, I have to rate the overall experience a 2 simply because of the service. Not only was the service exceedingly slow, it was haphazard as well. The first two people to receive their meal were finished before the last person was even served.

I wish I could give this place negative stars. The calamari salad is the most disgusting 16 dollar salad I have ever had. If I wanted frozen seafood that was microwaved I would have just gone to vons and spent half the price. There is no way the seafood, salad, soup or peppers were made fresh or in house. We had 4 different menu items and they all were clearly frozed beforehand . the only good thing from here was the Perrier.

My opinion is the same as many others that have reviewed this place before... the food is great, but the service follows a French waitstaff timeline and comes off as slow and inattentive. With that said, it isnt terrible service and the staff are pleasant. I had the scrambled eggs with spinach and it was perfect for a brunch meal. And, the house coffee was spot on. I will come eat here again.

This place used to be very good when they opened. Sadly, the quality and presentation has changed. Café Verde has gone down hill since its expansion. At our last visit, the food was bland, dry, cold in some areas. Although they have expanded, the space continues to be too compact; they cram too many people in at once. Profit, over safety and quality...

The food here is nothing short of delicious. They got a little bit of everything to appeal to everyone. The waiters,although very nice and friendly, tend to be ghosts at times since it seems that they are always short staffed. Its a real bummer. Either way, go try it yourself. You wont regret it.

I just had the florentine egg benedict plate and it was delicious. .service was very good and fast.this was my first time at the cafe and like they say first impression is all, so definitely I will come back to try other dishes that I eyed .

Service was terrible. It was so bad we put a timer, asked for butter, and it took 11 minutes for us to eventually receive it. By then we didnt need it and the table next to us gave us their leftover butter. Portions are small as well.

Great brunch spot. Strong french pressed coffee. I enjoyed the Scramble with smoked salmon and Huevos Rancheros. Its nice to sit in the front to people watch too!
