One of the staff members tries to be nice but overall the staff is rude. Ive been to places where customer service is mediocre even bad but the food is delicious so its almost worth the sacrifice. But here things arent even good. We will not be returning since on several occasions we have seen the staff treat customers rudely and even scream at them, one of them specifically has a lot of anger... And te last time we were there one of the bakers clearly didnt wash his hands after using the restroom. We were in the corner entrance to the restrooms and we could clearly hear he used the restroom and didnt wash his hands afterwards. All in all, they are rude and potentially not sanitary do we will not be returning.

Egg tarts are one of the popular dim sum/dessert items. The crust should be flaky while the center is silky and sweet, but not too sweet. Its good with tea or coffee or all by itself. Here they make good egg tarts. They even better when slightly warm. Theyre constantly rolling out ones that are just pulled out of the oven. Theyre $0.50 for one and youll see people get a dozen or more wrapped up in a pink box. They dont like to box them up when they are hot out of the oven because theyll turn soggy from the steam.

One of three old school bakery left in Oakland Chinatown. This place is mostly fill with retired older grandpa meeting friends to hangout. Theres no frills about this place you really get what you pay. Known for their dan tart, cocktail bun, and pineapple bun. Coffee is weak here, but if you come for just the pastries, youll be safe. Service is awesome and some speak english. Simple and easy with nothing to think about. For five dollars youll walk out with a bagful good for two days.

This was one of my favorite places for buns growing up and I do have to say the taste I grew up loving hasnt changed. Although you have the Sheng Kee and the Kee Wah, nothing beats the original Ruby King. Their bread are always fresh and delicious but get ready to elbow people as their customers can be quite rude and wont care if youre in line ahead of them.

Good food with authentic chinatown atmosphere. ie low prices, no frills, authentic traditional, not for those expecting hipster boutique experience with packaging that cost more than the food. Cash only place. Most items less than $1 or $2 at most.

Super casual Chinese bakery cafe. Most days youll find groups of older Chinese men sipping coffee and enjoying a pastry. This is our go to place for fresh cream rolled cakes. The egg tarts are nice and flakey and the pineapple buns are ginormous.

Good priced, flaky and good quality pastries. Not the bun selection like Napoleon up the street but still worth going for what they have; clearly popular with the locals in the morning. Do yourself a favor and come here and Napoleon too.

One of the best chinese bakery in Oakland. The store is old but very traditional. It serves many older generation of Chinese. The bakery is good quality and always fresh. We always stop by to buy bakery when we are in Oakland.

Best egg custard tart in Oakland! Try and get them hot off the cart. Inexpensive and authentic. You wont get gourmet service from this hole in the wall bakery in Oakland Chinatown, but who cares, enjoy the tasty pastry.
