They changed their interior lately and the whole store got a LOT bigger. I have to say I still liked it more before when they were a small store front. It was just much homier...Now it feels like a posh Cafe rather than a small burrito and bakery place. I first started coming here when I learned that they had Lengua Burrito. Think about it, lengua, in Berkeley!!!! It was really good! Almost as good as the ones I have had in the Mission. However, a few months ago they stopped serving lengua because they said it was too expensive. Now thinking about it, they wanted to save money so they could expand their store? I basically stopped going after their lengua was gone. The most recent time I went was because I suddenly started to crave their Mexican pastries. They used to have so many choices that are so delicious and even fullfilling to just to look at. However, this time besides discovering they have a new store look I also felt their pastry selection became smaller. And they started serving donuts...I dont recall seeing donuts there ever before... I guess the 4 star rating is really a nostalgic rating for what Casa Latina was in my memories.

So blessed to have tried this place. Have been here two times and food is outstanding. Meat quality is by far superior to any Mexican place we have tried in SF or Oakland. So far have tried their carne asada burrito, tamales (pork, chicken & one cheese with bell peppers), barbacoa mole, chicken poblano and we shared tres leces and their caramel cheesecake. The carne asada burrito was so delicious but also very light due to the very thin soft tortilla. The tamales were both awesome (although the chicken one was a tad dry and the mole barbacoa and chicken poblano was something else - simply amazing! Not impressed with the tres leces but their flan was to die for. The staff was cheerful and friendly and so polite. The place itself was very spacious and neat - bathroom too was very spacious and clean. Lovely paintings of Frida on their walls. I cannot wait to be back to try more off their menu! Do not miss this spot! Great value for good food with great portions and great quality of meats!

Delicious baked goods! the “regular donuts,” which are actually covered in whip cream and some kind of sweet crystals-- maybe nutmeg and brown sugar?-- were amazing, and the churros weren’t bad. And all of the baked goods are $1.50-- these are generously sized baked goods and a very wide variety of flavors and textures. I’m pretty sure you pay more than that for a plain croissant at Starbucks. Very good guac and carnitas. They had tostada reasonably sized for $5. My dining partner’s veggie burrito was big and delicious. They had a friendly, helpful staff who were happy to help us through the great big menu. Cozy but charming, friendly atmosphere.

Hands down one of the best Horchata (a pretty sweet rice drink with cinnamon and sweetener) I have ever had, fair price for what you get! I have also heard their hot chocolates are good as well. For my first visit, the tacos were small (not sure if theyre supposed to) but I got around 5 for roughly 15 in total. Tacos were beautifully presented, and the place was well lit and had a nice touch of coziness. Probably wouldnt get the tacos again since Im cheap, but would totally love to try their assortment of breads and pastries.

Excellent food. Customer service was lacking. I seemed to be invisible to the petite lady and the overweight lady. l was the only one standing in front of counter ready to place my order. No greeting, no nod, no smile. After a few minutes I was told to go to the other counter. I went and still waited for the ladies to finish their conversation before placing my order. I put up with this only because the food is excellent.

Great for breakfast and for meeting up for coffee. I usually stop by this place when Im at an event down the street, and I ask the folks what they recommend for the day. To date, their recommendations have been excellent. Egg breakfasts, pupusas, tacos, burritos (watch out, theyre huge), they have all been delicious. Cool bathroom too.

Gave this place another chance after my bad experience. Glad I did, the nachos with pork are really good. The pork burrito is also delicious. They have a wide variety of baked goods too but I havent been a huge fan of the ones Ive tried so far.

I love this place. My boyfriend and I came here by a random chance several weeks ago and got the Papusas especial plates, Revuelto with refried beans.... and WE KEEP COMING BACK. A hidden gem big time. Its become a favorite for us. :)

My rice, bean, and cheese burrito was well flavored, which is a nice change compared to many other Mexican restaurants. They dont rely solely on good meat to make their good taste good, which I appreciate as a vegetarian.

Casa Latina has become a regular for me. Great food, open late, delicious pan dulces. Great atmosphere. Staff is... Friendly enough. Dont expect much service through, certainly a serve yourself type restaurant!

Consistently delicious food and a nice decor. They also have great traditional Mexican bakery goods. Also the prices are very reasonable. Love this place. Pazzole soup, carnitas platos, and tacos are fantastic.

Had some tacos for lunch, they were way too expensive, the hot sauce (requested as "hot") was fairly mild, and the meat was really dry. I wouldnt come back again but I also dont particularly dislike the place.

Got a chicken burrito fajita style with medium sauce. Spice level was non existent. Chicken semi bland. Also tried a random bread and it wasnt that great. Not fluffy or soft. Had texture of semi stale bread.

Food is good but they seemed racist toward blacks and Im not quick to make that claim. I gone in several times to pick up and dine in and seen them cater toward white customers. Go Donald Trump I guess...

Great authentic flavors in all their dishes. The Mexican breads and pastries are rich and delicious. Its easy to buy more pan dulce than you planned to since everything looks and smells so good.

Huevos rancheros was really good but I dont think need it any raw onions and the refried beans could be black. Overall the food was average. The service is very good though.
