It was promising at first, but spiraled downward before long. The reservation was under my name, and there was nothing to suggest my boyfriend and I were married or somehow related, but the man who showed us to our table called him by my last name. Major faux pas. Even if we are married, why assume? After we were seated, the same man opened a bottle of still water for us but never bothered to tell our server, who later refilled our glasses with the iced water from a pitcher I realised I should have requested (as it was free and, as illustrated by the servers behavior, both fungible and indistinguishable). As for the food--signature risotto dish was good, and the serving sizes are more akin to those at a French restaurant, but Im more of a grazer anyways. My boyfriend seemed content with his medium rare filet mignon, though I felt it lacked a proper sear in clarified butter (yum!). Still, better than what Ive had at Mastros.

Fantastic experience. Olive bread was savory. We had wagyu beef carpaccio, foie gras with brioche, mushroom ravioli, and Alaskan halibut. Beef, foie gras, and risotto are really tasty and well cooked. Halibut seems a little salty. For the dessert, we ordered the sample platter, several bite-size pastries, which I think was fine. They were out of truffles that was a little disappointed. Definitely the restaurant I will come back. Server was kind of slow.

I would suggest you check you bill before leaving. We ordered wine by the glass and we were charged $2-3 more for each glass than the menu price. Our over charge was $14 for last night but now we wonder if this has been happening every time we are there. I have called to speak to someone about this but they do not have anyone available until after 5:00 which seems odd for a place of this level. I will have to wait and see.....

For a fancy dinner, this place cannot be topped. Make sure to order the table-side risotto for 2 and the white truffle on top. If they have the Chateau Briand, order that. Its worth every penny
